soften DD's bowel motions? She's 6 months old.
When she does a poo,I can feel her pushing/straining to get it out,and it's like little nuggets, not hard, but firm.
I"ve tried pears, and diluted prune juice, she will only have a few sips,so I'm going to try mixing it into her food instead. The doctor suggested peas  mashed into her food aswell.
Any suggestions????

Hey Butterfly,
We used a thing called infants friend, you get it from the chemist, it helps with a lot of stuff not just that, it helps with things like wind as well. It's great, we swear by it and will make sure I have some in the cupboard from when this bub comes along.
Good luck and let us know how you go.

Hi
Make sure you offer her plenty of water (I know that getting her to drink it is the difficult part), maybe mix it with some fruit juice (apple / pear / prune) about 1/3 to 1/4 juice to make it more palatable.

I always found that fruit worked well for our DDs. Pear and any stonefruit (peaches / apricots) are supposed to be good, you buy canned fruit or stew it yourself and then mash it to her required consistency. I did have a doc once tell me not to give too much fruit (only max one "piece" of fruit per day).

Cheers

Hello.
My youngest sometimes suffers from that, i use 2 teaspoons of brown sugar in water, and that works for her.

Good luck

oh the poor little thing how uncomftable it must be.
ive been thinking but neither of my boys have realy suffered from this problem but a good friends little girl was getting so constipated that she got quite ill,
the doctor gave them a strickt diet and i remember strictly no bananas .
some formulas can make bubs stools realy hard .
sorry i dont have a miracale cure what about baby massage and warm baths to help relax her little tummy and make her feel yummy.goodluck :p

My dd has been bottlefed and she did get constipated when she was about 4 months old. But she is fine now with eating solids. But you can get coloxal drops from the chemist and these work really well. I would put the required amount in her bottle and give it to her that way.

I used brown sugar in water also, but only about half a teaspoon and found that worked great.

Thanks for the tips.
I'm trying extra fruit and diluted fruit juices at the moment,so if that doens't work we will try the other things suggested. :)
