Good Evening Ladies

I just had a question if anyone could help me.......Ive been on single parenting payments while working for about a year now. Ive since got together with a guy ive been friends with for years and he lives in QLD so we have had a long distance relationship for about 6 months and decided to move in together as the long distance thing is terrible so he is going to move NSW to be with my daughter and i.

He is moving in 2 weeks and i was just going through the centrelink website to get forms sorted because i wont be claiming single parenting payments anymore so does that mean we have to fill out the partnered parenting payments form even though i think with our combinded income we will be over and wont be elible??? But what about the family tax benifit payments???

So im a little confused on what to do centrelink has always totally confused me :o so if anyone has been through this and can explain it all a bit better i will be very grateful :D

Thanks

Jaime

I think you might need to go in and see them in person at the office, might be the best bet.

I would wait till DP gets to you and then go in as a couple... they may need info off him that you don't have, and you get 2 weeks to notify them of changes in your circumstances anyway

Good Luck

If you don't want to apply for parenting payment partnered you wont have to fill in any forms (your combined income would have to be pretty low to qualify for it). You will just tell them to cancel your parenting payment single as you are now partnered. You should be able to do this over the phone.

Apply for parenting payment partnered anyway.

I have just been through this. My partners income is too high to get it but because we did all the paperwork, we are getting 12 weeks payment of maximim FTB part A (i think its part A), rent assist and 100% CCB. They do it to assist you with the changeover of going from single to partnered. There is heaps of paperwork and stuff but worth it to get 6 more payments.

I just told the FAO that i wasnt single anymore and had to tell them DPs details, which they had on file from before we broke up. You need to earn less that about $700 a week combined to get partnered payment (could be wrong but thats what i remember). FTB A goes off the highest earners income, and if it falls below the bracket you should get some. FTB B goes off the lowest earners income so if the lowest earner only gets a little bit of pay then you will get FTB B. I think this is all correct, but i could be wrong.
Good Luck, and congrats on the new relationship, i hope it all works out for you :)
