View Full Version : Lifespan of MCN's
Just wondering if those with more than one bub have been able to use their MCN's with subsequent babies or did they fall apart before you go the chance? Which brands have a better lifespan?

i only have one bub (so wont be using these nappys after ds is tt'ed).....so i cant speak from experience but i have heard of most ppl using them with at least 2 bubs :)
most brands are quiet durable.....tho i have heard the ittis tend to have the leg elastic 'go' in them a bit quicker than others ....
hth a bit :)

Some of the nappies I have i've had for about 3 years now and they are just about to be used on baby #3 (when he's born!) so they can definitely last subsequent children!
I have 10 Dragonfly Magik's and 10 Abby Gro's that i've been using since DD was a few months old and did her until toilet training, they're now used on DS who is 21months and they will be used on Belly Babe once he can fit them aswell.
They are still going strong, though a few of each have had the elastic go in the legs recently, but this is fixable, I just haven't bothered because it's not affecting the fit on DS. These are our workhorse nappies, so get used in rotation daily so they've lasted pretty damn well I reckon!
Thanks for the replies! That sounds promising :D

Hmm maybe I should try bumgenius :detective: I haven't really given too many different brands a go, in my stash I have mostly baby beehinds, some itti's and a couple of bambooty's. That's concerning about the itti's though!

How disappointing for you. How long have you had them for? I've been using my 20 snap-in itti's in constant rotation for nearly 15 months now and they are still in excellent condition, the snaps are all still fine, minky is still nice and soft and no problems with the elastic or sewing.

I used BBH hemp and bamboo for DS1. I used 18 in constant rotation for just over 2 years. I suppose I could have used them for DS2 but they were a bit raggy and I ended up buying new ones since they wouldn't have lasted another 2 years anyway

i think that ittis bought towards end of last year and beginning of this year are bit of a dud in regards to elastic. i have had a couple go from that period, some that are about to go and several from friends who bought around that time and have had to do replacements
i only have one bub, but one wash I had a pea pod have the plasticy inner bit, seperate from the outer bit IYKWIM, and one of my ittis (after 4 months)is making an odd crinkly sound, which makes me think it has done the same thing inside but i cant see it.
A friend gave me a small Pocket change, which she used on her bub, and I used on mine, and I am sendin on to another friend to use on hers
Other than that I have BBH, Bonnibuns and Bumgenius, which all seem to be doing well, but the oldest of these is probably only 8 months at this stage.
I am sending off my small pea pods and BBH covers with cheapy ebay fitteds tomorrow for my friends new little bub, I'm sure they will serve her well too!

i have never bought new ittis- only second hand (who knows how old they are?), but they look brand new. The ones that I found look worse are the snap ins, for some reason the sewn ins seem to look better.. who knows why..
BBH last really well if you hang them on the line correctly without stretching the elastic (look at the care instructions on their website).
I don't really buy new nappies but I have hardly had any issues with any nappies.. all would be at least 2 years old (and many have been through my ds1 who is almost 3 as well).
