Hi,

My baby girl (4 weeks and just hit the 4kg mark) is in a brace for a displaced hip and I have just started to use my MCN stash (worried about poosplosions and it getting on the brace).

So far we have used a tots bots with a thirsties cover and had success at containing a poospolsions. Our bambooty was unsuccessful and it came out the side.

I have also tried an itti bitti snap in and a bubblebubs but have had problems with the wee dribbling straight out the side (no poosplosions yet so not sure how they will handle.). They are fine when she is on her back but when I settle her and feed her she is on her side.

Do you think this is a common problem or do you think that it may be the brace that pulls her legs apart that could be the problem? I noticed that there is a slight gap around her legs with the bubblebubs but not the itti bitti but I don't think I could get the nappy any tighter around her waist. Any comments are appreciated as I can't stand to look at the amount of waste I'm generating from disposables much longer.

Has she still got chicken legs? I found it wasn't until DD was 6 weeks old that her legs started to chub out, before that any nappies we had would have been too big around the legs. You might just need to wait a little longer, or try prefolds and a well fitting cover (one with gussets).

Yeah, I'd go for the double-barrel - fitted & cover. I find Bubblebubs bam bams give a good fit as they use a snappi. Otherwise have you tried a side-snapping nappy? They give a better fit IMO. Whizz Kidz OFSM are good & pretty cheap, & I also love Cute Tooshies Bamboo Delights.

Maybe having natural fabrics against her skin might absorb the wee more quickly, before it has a chance to run out?

Bear in mind that some poosplosions are destined to escape, no matter what they're wearing, cloth or sposie. Although I had far more leaks with disposables, none with cloth.

thanks ladies! actually the eco bubs side snapping nappy was a success as well. It fit around the legs well, so did the twinkle lilly. I might try more of the side snapping variety though.

I feel so silly for buying a huge supply of smalls as I don't think she will be in them for much longer. She is big around the middle and does have chicken legs :(

I just wanted to say that the bambooty easy dry seems to have an extra leg gusset that the easy peasy and contained a poosplosion YAY!!!

I'm in love with my Bambooty easy dry but not fussed on the easy peasy
