well bubba finally made an appearance, 7days overdue but when he decided to come he came in a hurry.

Malakai James - born 4th July 06 - 9:43am - 9lb 1oz - 52cm long - hc 38cm

okie dokie.. I woke up at roughly 7am tuesday morning to my first contraction but wasnt too sure if it was one or just a sore stomach coz I hadnt been up to use the loo all night lol.. got up and within about 10 -15mins I had another one.. wandered round in circles for awhile trying to decide what to do :lol
Zac got up and I went to lie down with him for 20mins of cuddle time and cartoonz before getting him ready for kindy but before I could even lie down I had another contraction and it was alot stronger so I went and woke mark up, rang my mum to get her round to sort Zac out and take him to school.. I was so worried about scaring Zac :\ Mark got up so I jumped in the shower and by that stage (8am) the contractions were only about 7mins apart if that (I wasnt exactly timing lol)
mum and Zac left and I rang the hospital who put me on hold.. after a few minutes and another contraction I said '@#%$ this lets just go' :lol we got to the hospital by 9am and they were coming roughly 3mins apart.. got up to the birth suites and it was all business lol.. everything was going smoothly until his shoulders got stuck :eek all of a sudden the room was full of doctors and midwives, half of the pulling on his head, the other half pushing on my stomach :\ seemed like time stood still at that point, I was freaking! finally they got him out and he wasnt breathing well so they gave him oxygen and took him off to special care nursery for an hour..
his nose was squished and stuffed up so his breathing wasnt the best the first few days. his eyes were swollen and his head covered in bruises so he wasnt a happy man :(

he's got to have eye drops and antibiotics (his umbilical cord is slightly infected) 4hourly for a week but the bruising and swelling are gone and he's much happier.. it was a nice short labour but it was pretty scary..

Hi - sorry to hijack your thread, was just reading - wonderful stories by the way!!

I don't know if it was this movie or not, but I think the name Malakai is Irish, and it featured in a movie called Angela's Ashes. He was one of the twins. Just thought I'd comment, even if I'm almost 12 months late!! :D

Yeah V it was scary alright, more so because I kept asking if he was ok but noone would answer me.

Angeltoes - I didn't get it from Angela's Ashes but a few of the midwives did ask if that was where I'd heard it lol.. I really must hire it out.. The movie I heard it in was Save the Last Dance :p Derek's best friend was Malachi but I prefer my spelling LOL
