Hi All
My story is long and a little sad, (I will post the blog that I have started).
The short story is that I had a complete hysterectomy at 22 (12 years ago) and my husband and I would like to start a family.
I have ovarain tissur frozen which would be used to create my eggs (another long story) so the child would be biologically ours.
I have spoken with my doctors and some councilors and a surrogate is the onlwat that I will be able to achieve having a baby of my own.
It is illegal in Victoria to pay your surrogate to carry the child for you but generally expected that you would meet all reasonable costs that you would be expected to pay if you were pregnant.
I am hoping that there are some angels out there who would be willing to help me in this journey.

Hi JoJo,
thanks for stopping by.
had a crazy week with work and this surrogacy ride is starting to take its toll at home. Did god really mean to make having a baby so hard.
I have raged all week over the injustice of it all and how unfair it is.
I would love for people to stop telling me that "god only gives you what he knows you can bere" or " what doesnt kill you only makes you stronger".
Please tell me how strong I am supposed to be
fractured spine at 15
face reconstruction at 17
endo
adenomyosis
multiple abdominal surgeries
a hysterectomy
and to top it off alopecia (lost all my hair)
I am only one person and quite frankly I thought that the first 2 were enough to test the strength of anyone.
Sorry to vent. But that feels great to get it off my chest.
I hope everyone else has had a better week than I have.
I am still here and still fighting and I will have a baby. It just has to be.

Hi All,
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.
I thought I would give you a quick update.
I went to see our Specialist doctor just before Christmas and have some wonderful news. They are able to reimplant some of the ovarian tissue that I have frozen. This is a long process and it would possibly be next October to December until I have grown any eggs from the tissue, but all signs point to a positive outcome. My Dr. has been at a conference in Europe in early dec and there have now been 11 live births resulting from embryos created from reimplanted ovarian tissue.
The first hurdle for me will be the surgery to have the tissue reimplanted. As I have had multiple abdominal surgeries they are not sure of what my insides look like at the moment and how much scar tissue there is.
The other hurdle that will run concurrently with this surgery and the tissue starting to produce eggs, is that we need a surrogate to carry for us as a result of the hysterectomy I had at 22.
While these are fairly large hurdles I can not begin to tell you how excited I am that my dream of having a familly may not be the "pie in the sky" that it could be.
Well that is the great christmas news that I received and wated to share with you all. I will keep you all updated with any progress that I make as and when it happens.
If there is anyone out there in Bub Hub land that thinks they maybe able to help make my dream of being a mum come true I would be extremely happy to speak to you.

Dear Frozen Tissue,
This is great news even if it seems like a very small chance its a chance you never thought you may have had. All i can say is never never ever give up and i applaud you and others in your situation for fighting for a chance to be a parent - something i myself take for granted from time to time. All the very best.

22 now and pregnant to our last bub that we would like to have.... i'd consider being a surrogate once i was finished having children, if i knew the family well enough and trusted their ability as parents.... good luck in your journey.
FT, I just wanted to stop by and wish you the best of luck!
You will no doubt make an excellent mother!! I know this as those who have been on the long and painful path can truly see that If you put yourself through all this, then you are really going to appreciate the miracle at the end of it!
love and best wishes,
marzi xx

Have you asked hospitals for some help in this area?
You are not able to have hospital, clinics or other organisations involved in sourcing surrogates or intended parents.

Hi All,
I thought that I would let you all know where we are up too at the moment.
I have been back to the specialist this week and we are looking good to go. As some of you may know surrogacy is now legal in Victoria. It will be very interesting to see how the couples that go before us in the courts. I have also found out that there is an age requirement of the surrogate being at least 25.
I will be looking at having my ovarian tissue implanted in August. The doctor thinks that we would be able to have an egg pick up in Feb next year at the earliest. With a surrogate being implanted 6 months after that. I need to do more research into this so that I understand.
I had been speaking to a lovely lady about being our surrogate. I have not heard from here in a while so I am not sure where we are currently standing with this situation.
In speaking to the doctor and letting her know about this potential surrogate, she recommended that the surrogate ideally be located in the same state as us. While this is not a necessity she felt that we would be able to provide more support and maintain a higher standard of care knowing the full history of all parties.
I guess this makes sense.
This is where we are currently up too. I would love to speak to anyone who may be able to assist.

Hi my surro family,
I wanted to let you all know what has been happening in my world.
I went to my specialist last Tuesday (Melbourne IVF Clinic) to be advised that they have scheduled my surgery for August 24.
This surgery is to reimplant the ovarian tissue that I had frozen 13 years ago reimplanted into my abdomen to see if we can get some eggs to grow. If I am fortunate enough to have eggs develop I am one step closer to having a child that is biologically mine.
My doctor has repeatedly reminded me that this is not a 100% guarentee that I will have a child that is boilogically mne and that the only sure fire way at the moment is with donor egg or embryo. But how can you not try for the one thing you want more than anything else.
The next hurdle I have is to find a surrogate. To find that woman who will unselfishly help me reach my dream.
Well that is where I am at the moment.
I am happy to talk with anyone who may want some more information about where I am at in this process or where I have been I am happy to discuss.
Love, Hugs and Kisses to all following this thread.

Hi to all my online family,
It has been a while since I posted.
I have been on the most amazing holiday to Jamaica. Such a long way to travel for a holiday, but what an amazing holiday I had.
I decided that I need to go on a relaxing holiday before I had my surgery. So to my surgery.
On Aug 24 I went in to the hospital to have some of my ovarian tissue reimplanted. The surgery went very well and I am recovering very well. The most exciting thing so far is that I have been off all HRT and I am having no hot flushes.
I will be going back to my specialist on Sept 15 so I will have more idea of where to from here.............so for now it is all good news and I am very happy.
I will let you all know what I learn when I see the dr in a few weeks.

Hi All,
It has been a long time since I have posted and I apologise.
Most of you will know that I had my surgery in late August to have some ovarian tisuue reimplanted. While I was waiting for the rsults I have taken myself away from the forums for a while, I hope you all understand.
Now for the drum roll :smiliedance: :smiliedance: :smiliedance:
it worked. Yes it worked. The tissue has taken and is producing.
I will be trying to do an egg pick up through IVF in late March.
This means that I now am able to talk in real dates and not hypotheticals.
SO the search is on now. Looking for a wonderful person to help me make the Fairy Tale my dreams com true of being a Mum.
I am wishing you all a wonderful Christmas.
Cheers
