Hi
After forever using 'sposies I think I am about to take a step into clothie-land and try it for myself . After talking to friends, reading bubhub and surfing the nappy-net I am starting to really think I can do this. I found this great site that describes all the terminology (I just worked out what AIO means:rolleyes: !) and I feel that it has worked to simplify what seems to be a simple thing made complicated by terminology (or am I just very behind the 8-ball)!

http://www.diaperjungle.com/cloth-diaper-terminology.html

Anyhoo, I think I will look at a few different ones but like the look of the All-In-2's or fitted pockets - has anyone used Fuzzi Bunz or a similar type? Your expertise would be greatly welcome.
see you in the bucket!

I have a few Swaddlebees which are similar to Fuzzibunz & i find then great especially now Boof thinks its fun to pull a nappy off !!! So the snaps save me time & a lot of cleaning LOL !
Many people swear by them so id say they are a winner.
We use Green Kids pocket nappies & love them to death !

Have a look for yourself :)

Otherwise the Eenees system is our next fav which allows us to use the terry flats smother in law has given us just folded into a pad which lays inside the cover & then we only change the insert at nappy change unless the cover has been soiled !

Good luck hunting tis loads of fun & addictive :D

i used to use cloth on my eldest daughter, only because we couldnt afford disposable nappies at the time, i used to hate washing them everyday and putting them in the nappy bucket with the nappy stuff, and everything else, and she used to leak all the time... it was annoying.... anyone else had this trouble?? was grateful when we could afford disposable nappies.. was great!!!:)

*blink*

what an odd post... it is rare that people post negative things about cloth .. in a cloth thread...

there are lots of clothies here.. who adore using cloth... I only wash every second day (and seriously.. are you whinging about putting items in a machine and pushing a button???? ) - nappies are rarely soaked anymore... and you can get some absolutely stunning nappies ..

I think you need to look more into the cloth world before posting how annoying it is ... things have dramatically changed in the last 5 years...

I personally dont like disposables.. I dont like the way they look .. the way they feel or the way they cost money every week ... nevermind the environmental impact from their creation and disposal ...

thanks for your input mimssbg777- but even if I had a million dollars.. I would still make the choice to use cloth..

xx

I have found the modern cloth world is amazing.
People actually spend more money on clothies - their stash- than those who use disposables.
Is it trendy in Hollywood? I ask cos I am curious.
I love that people are excited about their baby bums so much they knit the covers and sew. A lot nicer than the plastic pilchers. And oh so cute too.

LOL I was wondering that too. I really can't see those hollywood types rinsing poo off a nappy tho  Maybe they make their nannies put the bubs in cloth tho.

I love all my cloth nappies...even the flats  mostly coz you can fold them to suit where you need them to be absorbant, I find it harder to get the stuff in pockets to stay in the right place on my wriggle bum DD.

I'm about to order some stuff so I can try making a few nappies myself...not sure how well they'll turn out :fingerscrossed:

I have got two Sandras Stuffables and have knitted one soaker myself. I am now trying to figger out what to stuff the pocket with.

I just got them for using around home and maybe to show off when we go somewhere or when we run out of disposables. Its more of a fun thing than an environmental impact or financial thing. I read about them on here and it picqued my interest. DP thinks they're pretty cute but he just goes with the flow really and does what I tell him (LOL).

I would never use the old type, you know, the folded white things. I remember how to do the 'boy' fold though, we used it on my cousin who is now 21 (god I'm old).

I would also like to use modern cloth to alienate my MIL since she knows all about the folded white things from having four kids and knows all about disposables from having grandchildren (the youngest is now 12 until bubby arrives) but knows nothing about modern pockets.

I just like to let her know that she doesn't know everything, yunno, in case she wants to offer advice or something. Norty :D .

I had the opposite problem with my DD with leaking disposables!!! I hated (and still do) using them. Fortunately I discovered the new modern cloth nappy systems. No soaking in nappysan etc.
Its rare that she springs a leak now and some of the ones I have got for her are so cute and so adorable.

It was unfortunate that you found using cloth difficult (am I correct in assuming you used terry flats with pins or snappi's?) however the newer ones are a vast improvement. But in saying that you are entitled to your opinion :) .

They most certainly do have a repair service  I'm using it as we speak. They also re-imbursed me for postage AND gave me some credit for my next order.

I LOVE GREENS :smiliedance:

:smiliedance:I am now completely cloth-converted (although my wish list is expanding!!) and even DH asked for a demo today to make sure he knew how to use them! We have been impressed with the impact on our rubbish bin - no more sneaking out at night trying to find a half-empty bin in the street for our nappies. Washing them is a breeze and has not impacted on my workload at all (I wash almost everyday as it is).

I've just bought some polar fleece and cut it up to make nappy liners and I've bought a stack of face washers to use as wipes.

I'm so glad I decided to give them a try.... a bit like green eggs and ham - you don't know you like them until you try them!!

I do like cloth nappies, I do like them Sam I am!! I would use them on a train, on a bus, in the rain.....

I'm so glad you are having some sucess Georgia! We have been using mostly modern cloth on DS now for a year (he is a year old). For the fisrt 6 weeks we had a nappy service with flannel squares and used Tommee Tippee clamps instead of pins. We made our own fleece covers, some small fitteds and then slowly have been increasing our stash. 2 Green Kids nappies were the first modern cloth we purchased and they are still going strong. We love them. They are DH's favourites actually. I would like to get more Australian made ones but so far we have Swaddlebees, Happy Heinys, Green Acre Designs, Bumkins, Possum Pouches, Fuzzi Bunz, Baby Beehinds, Bubba J, Erica's Very Baby Simply Nights and some homemade fitteds. I think thats it!! But there are so many more styles and types out there to try:D
Enjoy!
