Just wondering if anyone can give any recomendations for good GP's to go and see regarding TTC???
Also wondering what exactly should i be asking for? Whats tests etc should i be getting?

Hi,
I live near Logan City. There are a set of brothers who are doctors up near brisbane City (Coorparoo). Mark & Peter Fletcher. They are great. Pete is our family Dr. I am 23 and have been trying to conceive for a year. If you have concerns about not falling pregnant more easily to be safe you can be tested for PCOS (Polysystic Ovary Syndrome) this is where you get cysts on your ovaries. I got tested a few yrs back and am thinking of getting tested again as my cycles are really askew (currently at day 125). Pete said to us to record BBT (basal body temp - your temp before moving for the day) as well as other things such as cervix position and fluid type. This way if after 2 yrs there has been no luck he can refer us to a specialist. I must admit I have been a bit slack about the BBT...
You can also get tests for LH level (its a blood test pre&post ovulation to see how your ovulation works) for me this is hard to time as my cycles are a mess. If you hear of any other great Dr's I would like to know - doesn't hurt to get a second opinion!

He's a naturopath, not a GP, but Jason Jackson of the Greenslopes Naturopathic Clinic (http://www.naturopathic.net.au/) was a godsend to us. After being diagnosed with "Idiopathic Infertility" (Can't get pregnant, but we can't tell you why exactly...) we were with Jason only 3 cycles when I conceived our little DD.
He's got 6 kids of his own, so he must know a thing or two about making babies
Jason has a noticeboard on the wall of his office, covered in photos of babies that he's "helped" to make.

Hiya,
Saw this great DR on tuesday, about this very long cycle. Name is Jotham Joubert (south african) and he works at the Browns Plains Family Practice or something like that. He's arranged for me to see him every 2 weeks until I am pregnant, or until he wants to refer me to a fertility specialist. He's arranged blood tests, pills to trigger the next cycle, and diet changes. So fingers crossed!
The GP bulk bills, so no out of pocket!:smiliedance:

I highly recommend my GP, Dr Paul Dixon. He is from the Broadbeach family practice. He is really kind, efficient, and willing to test you for anything you have concerns over.
I will never use another doc on the G.C.
By the way, I have just stopped taking the pill - so i am not even TTC yet. But I have already decided I will be going to John Flynn.
Would be interested to hear if anyone has any recommendations in the Sunshine Coast area. It's hard to find a good doctor - especially one that is helpful with fertility issues :)
