Ok i have another dilema (they are everlasting with my family!!!)

I am having my c-section on the 13th of December according to the midwife cos the hospital does electives on a wednesday at 38 weeks and thats the date she told me i would go in.

DH's mother is coming over on the 10th or 11th and staying till the 20th and my brother is coming over on the 11th also and staying till the 27th.

DS's birthday is on the 17th and I want to have a party for him that MIL can attend but it has to be on a weekend. According to people i have asked you dont get discharged from a c-section till 4 days post surgery (not counting the day you have it) so that puts me getting let out anytime from the 17th onwards.

So far my only choices of days for DS's birthday so MIL can attend are: Getting her to come over on the morning of the 10th and have that avo. Now i have realised that by doing that my brother misses out on the birthday party...............and i have to have the party on a weekend because everyone works.

If I organise it for the weekend after my c-section chances are i might not get out in time because last time my bp didnt go down till a week after the c-section (and we are talking about readings like 175/150) and they wouldnt let me out till 6 days post surgery.

I feel bad that people are going to miss out but MIL has been complaining about not celebrating her grandsons b'day and thats why i want to do something for her. I was actually going to have a birthday party/baby shower to save time.

Does anyone have any advice?
Should i organise it so MIL can celebrate her grandsons b'day and not worry about my brother since he never remembers about anyones birthday or comes over for them? I am the type of person that hates potentially upsetting anyone................

i'd have it on the 10th even though your brother will missout, not everyone can always make it anyway but that sounds like the best option to me.

dd2 was born on dd1's first birthday june 28th so we had dd1's 1st birthday party on june 18th (I had csects as well so knew having a party afterwards was just not an option) it worked out brilliantly as DD1 still got to have her special day as I was in hospital from 9am on her birthday.

im sure it will all work out for you though :D

Both my sister and I were discharged on day 3 with our first c/section. They can't legally hold you in there can they?

they can't make you stay but.... they usually have a reason for wanting you to still be there. we pay them a lot of money to have the benefit of their advice.

I would have the party before you go in. That way the party day will be all about the older child. If you already have had the baby everyone will be wanting to see the baby and you will be busy with the baby as well. One last chance to be the only child!
