View Full Version : IKEA nursery furniture?
Hi there,
I am looking at what nursery furniture to get, and I am thinking I will go with the Diktad range from IKEA. We would get the cot and the change table/chest of drawers. I like the fact that all the pieces are convertable (cot converts to toddler bed, change table top folds up to be a shelf) so they can still be used when the baby gets older. I was wondering if anyone has these, and what you think, are you happy with them?
Any comments appreciated!
I have both and they are fantastic! I'm am very glad we got them and are very worthwhile. The cot is especially great, it is the perfect size bed for when they climb out of the cot.
Edit: Forgot to add, they look fantastic too!:D
I'm so happy to read this because we were thinking about getting that cot and changetable/shelf as well. Glad to hear it gets the
I have the change table which I absolutely LOVE! I wish now that I had of got the cot too but didn't...
Anyway, huge  for them!
Thanks so much for your replies, I'm glad to hear that they get the:thumbsup:
Just one question, does the cot have a drop down side? Does it need one? I'm quite short and worried about reaching right in when it is on the lower setting to put down a sleeping baby (OK maybe wishful thinking but we can live in hope).
 I was just coming on to post the same thing! I'm a shorty and don't know if the cot has a drop down side. Do I need one? I don't even know :o

Thats what i was just going to post on !
The side doesnt drop down which is the only problem we have found with the IKEA cots !
So we will just have Boof keep the toddler bed until he grows out of it ... give him a month lol  ;)
So i would suggest you really go & look at them, try them out etc.
Its a lot easier to use when they stand because then you dont have to stretch as far & is very hard on the nites when they want to be patted to sleep.
Im going to buy a proper cot as much as i love theirs its a case of needing a drop down side especially now that DP has limited mobility.

Hi
We've had the change table for 3 years and it's great. Just make sure you attach it to the wall at the top, as with any furniture in the nursery, before you forget and teh little ones try to climb it!
Hi there,
We've been looking at the Diktad line as well. I'm pretty short..5'2" on a good day....and I don't think it'll be too much of a problem. while the side doesn't drop down the height of the actual mattress has 2 settings. so when the baby is new and there's no fear of him/her climbing out you can raise it and when baby is a bit older drop it down. Even on the low setting it wasn't that difficult to bend into it.
I've also only heard good things about the line.
