ive tried making sushi a few times:laughing: all ended in disasters
as soon as i go to wrap them they all fall apart and dont stick and DISASTER !:p
so how do i make them good ! also whats some yum fillings !
I know what you mean, making sushi is a bit of a fine art :). I've done it heaps of times with the odd disaster. Have you got a sushi mat to roll them up with? Once I've put the rice & filling on I wet the far end with a bit of water with my fingers which makes it stick once you've rolled it. As for fillings try the following options:
smoked salmon slices & avocado
cucumber & sundried tomato
canned tuna (mushed up with a bit of kewpie mayo) & lettuce
cucumber, blanched carrot slices & daikon (pickled radish - from Asian food shops
seafood stick, cucumber & avocado
Good luck

:yes::yes:
i find its more the seaweed has trouble sticking when i roll it so it just all falls apart !
agh i have sushi problems too! i can never get the rice right, then if i manage too, i can never get it layered right so that the filling ends up in the middle with the rice around it
mmm sushi!!

google sushi express, it is a little sushi maker. You end up with more of a square shaped roll but it squishes it all into place nicely(without it exploding at each end.
I'm not sure if they are sold online I got mine from a sushi place.
I had a tandoori susshi roll the other day it was pretty good, think it had the kewpie mayo on it. A must have for suhi IMO.
I love the stuff but can never make it as good at home either.

QTB kewpie mayo is in a bottle the shape of a kewpie doll. It is in the japaese section of the supermarket with the nori and stuff. I think it is inside some plastic wrappig on the shelf. Red and cream package. Super high fat but sooooo good!
I'm off the check out your link now:)

Ooh I've never seen the bbq sauce but we have no speciality stores round here:(
I try to stock up on that sort of stuff when in melb.
Glad those instructions were there it reminded me how to use the express thing I have.:oThanks!
I might make a tandoori one for lunch. Tandoori chk/kewpie mayo/maybe carrot.
Do you girls like wasabi???
First time i tried it I had squirted it inside the roll cause I originally thought that the green stuff in sushi was wasabi...not avocado;)
Woooowser! did it nearly blow my head off!

Is that for the sushi express?? It is good cause the rice/filling get squished together and stay that way yet they can't escape the container. Much less mess:thumbsup:

I made Sushi last weekend with my best friend and it turned out so well! We had a bit of help with this (http://www.kitchencupboard.com.au/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=799) little guy though! Can definitely recommend it!
We made chicken, cucumber, avocado and prawn, avocado and capsicum! SO good!!!
We used the proper sushi rice and cooked the rice in a rice cooker. It turned out perfectly!
We're going to have a sushi day at work and make it in here! Can't wait

I think I need to make my rice more damp, my nori always ends up dry and it doesn't matter how long I leave it for!
And should I really admit to pre-pregnancy eating kewpie mayo off my finger, straight from the bottle :o Its addictive stuff :o

Perfectly legal, I do the same thing:D
If you wet the nori with some water on your finger tips it softens up pretty well.

Mine is cooling ready to go, I got some vocado, tandoori marinated chk bits, carrot and kewpie mayo. Hope the combo turns out alright, has never seen in in the shops:p

That's a contraption and a half, how does it get the nori on it. Or like the one I have do you roll it after everything is stuck together?
I remembered another nice filling. Cook up some chik breast/thigh in the masterfoods teriyaki flavour base. It is in a yellow pouch.
Freeze in portions for singele use (that's what I do since no one else eats it)
Pretty good with avocado.
My fav is the california roll. Hmmmmmm yummo.

Yep you can buy wasabi in a tube in the asian section of most supermarkets. You can have it all to yourself waaaaayyyyy too hot for me.
They sell the pickled ginger in that section too if you like that with your sushi. You will also find the rolling mats etc so you could do your own.
Yumm
