I read somewhere once that you need to breastfeed at least 6 times a day to keep the supply going, so that the milk doesn't "dry up". Is this true??? My baby is 3 months old, and feeds four hourly, but won't feed from 8pm until 8am (he sleeps straight through). So therefore, he only feeds four times a day.

I thought this would just mean that my supply will adjust accordingly, but now after reading that i'm worried.

Does anyone remember how many times a day their 3 month old fed? Is it okay for a baby that age to sleep for 12 hours straight?

It's fine, as long as your not denying him boob when he asks for it he will regulate when and how much he needs.

My daughter is 12 weeks old and has 5 feeds a day. She is thriving and sleeps 9 hours a night. She then wakes and has a quick suckle then back to bed for 3-4 hours. Every baby is different. DD1 slept 12 hours a night from 4 weeks old. If bubs is sleeping and gaining weight enjoy it we are the lucky ones!

I was freaking out about this too as my DD is doing the same after having 2 others that didnt sleep at all dd#3 is sleeping through from 7-7 and only having 4 hourly feeds during the day. :yelclap:I thought my supply was drying up as I had to express the other day for the first time and could only get 50ml. it took days to get 150ml enough to satisfy her with a bottle. Funny how they can get way more than we think.
