How far along is she?
It is common to get extremely tired in the first trimester. I remember with DD i struggled at work for the first few months - just felt buggered all the time.
It passed in the second trimester and i felt more normal again - then got tired heaps again at the very end of the pregnancy.

Yes, it's totally normal to be really tired in the first trimester, then again in the last trimester. I only work part-time but have a toddler at home and have struggled BIG time at work and at home in the first trimester. I'm 12 weeks so hoping that eases up soon.

I would suggest that she rest as much as she can and go to bed early at night. Maybe even take a day off work, here and there?

I don't think it's normal in early pregnancy to be that tired that she can't manage to go to work.

Maybe she needs some vitamins. Perhaps she should have her iron levels checked. Although it is too early on for her iron stores to have been affected by the pregnancy she may have had low iron before getting pregnant.

I had low iron later on in my pregnancy & it did cause tiredness but was never that tired that I couldn't still work 40 hours a week.

I was so tired in my first trimester that I would have struggled to work full time.
I only worked part time, and I'd still get home in the afternoon and sleep for 2 hours or so until DH got home. I felt completely wiped out, and my iron levels etc were all normal.

I'm around 8 weeks at the moment, and sooooo tired all the time. Work is a massive struggle, and I only have a desk job!

I'm finding that I nap most afternoons at the weekend/ after work, and still sleep almost 12 hours at night. So basically sleeping a large amount of the day. I'm turning into a koala...

I am taking Elevit, and the obstetrician just said it's normal and will pass.

I'm feeling much the same too, I'm 7 weeks along and don't technically go to work I'm stay at home mum, latley I have trouble getting out of bed in the morning, then when I have got up find it a struggle to stay awake.

I think it's fairly normal though.
