View Full Version : fighting the boob!
Does anyone else's babies use your boobs as a punching bag?
When I'm attaching DD she gets in a right frenzy as she's so hungry and she pushes her fists into my boobs stopping me from being able to see my aim and to pull her close enough to get boob to mouth. I try to tuck her bottom arm under my armpit and hold the top one down but I need a third hand to keep them this way!
I feel really awkward doing this in public as everyone else I see seems to have it under control! Once she's on she's ok it's just that initial fighting.

DS sed too, but he's good now. He's starting to learn some good nursing manners.

LOL mine did this in the early days, now he kinda grabs it like it's a drink bottle, it looks so cute :D . You can wrap bubba for a feed if that will make it easier, I've known people who do this and it does make it so much easier.

It may seem as though everyone else is having an easy time of it but in reality, most new mums struggle with the juggling act of breastfeeding for a while. It can feel like you are the only one who isn't 'a natural' but ALL new breastfeeding mums struggle with some aspects at the start. it will get easier and both you and bub will become more in sync with one another as time goes on. It is like any new skill-practice, practice, practice....I'm sure you are doing plenty of this!:)

I wrapped Sam for his feeds at the start and did make it sooo much easier.
btw have you ever seen calves or lambs feed - they headbutt the udder to make the milk come down. at least we have it easier than that

I'd love to meet a mum who breastfeeds a newborn in public thats actually ying down without moving. Baby gymnastics leads to a lot of nipple showing!
 I can laugh about it now. Don't get to stressed about it. Bub will learn pretty quickly what to do. When I was new to b'feeding, I was always sooo paranoid that other b'feeding mums were looking at me thinking 'what on earth is she doing'. But be reassured thats not the case. We have all been there at some stage...it just takes time and practice.
yes! my baby did that too. Sometimes she still does, but mainly now that she's discovered how useful her hands are, she just gets hold of it like a bottle, like Queenie said.
It's so frustrating I know - when they are hungry but push away. And my hat is off to you if you are doing it in public. I did that once when she was a week old and haven't been game since. :o
