Hi All.
(Firstly sorry to Feb mummies its been over a month since I posted last I have been run off my feet, will chat again soon though!! :))

My girl Charli has just cut through her two front teeth (last week) and now has the horrible habit of grinding them against the bottom two. She seems to be doing it so much. I have started immediately putting my finger on her chin to disconnect the jaw and saying 'no' in a stern voice, so hoping the tough love will work but its been 2 days now and she still is doing it every few minutes! Not sure what else to do. I have also tried (sorry to those who dissagree) doing a light smack on her hand as well as the finger on the chin to pull aprt the jaw and she reacts with a sad face or grizzle like she knows she's in trouble, but still does it again only minutes later.

Any suggestions?

Is it still a problem? I would say the novelty would wear off - 2 new teeth is pretty exciting!!!!

Can you give her something to chew on when she starts to do it?
I'm pretty sure my DD1 went through a phase of doing that, we ignored it & it went away. Obviously she is just enjoying her new 'toys'. Having said that, it is an awful sound, isn't it?

I've been told teeth grinding can be a sigh of worms... is this possible?

unfortunately there isn't much you can do except distraction when it happens and giving teething toys.

they grow out of it, its just to relief the pressure and pain they feel when teething.

I doubt worms would be too much of a concern at this age (though I could be wrong)
DS is doing it too and DD did it once her top teeth came through (so as soon as she had teeth to rub together)
I just squeeze his cheeks till he stops (it only takes a few secs) but I asked a dentist about it when DD was little and he said it is normal and doesn't do any damage at this stage.

I imagine it would be very strange to have teeth after having none for so long so they are just exploring them (like everything else)
