Hi all,

DD is 4 1/2 months and we've been starting to try and introduce a very small amount of solids. So far we've tried a bit of babyrice, some carrot, some apple and some banana. She really isn't keen at all.

She's showing all the signs she's ready and the CHN said to start trying but she doesn't seem to want to know.

I'm not in any way concerned at all about her intake..she's a big bub...much more getting her used to it before she needs them around 6 months but I am concerned that she rejects it all so immediately. I only offer her them every 3 to 4 days and when I put her in her bumbo and put her bib on she gets all excited until the actual food hits her mouth!!!! I never persist with it because I don't want her getting upset around eating.

Did anyone else have this and how long did it last till bubs was happy! This is unusual for me as DS started at 17 weeks and wolfed down everything from the start!!!!!

Thanks

heys! ollie was like that to begin with, we started him at 4 months, he didnt want to have a bar of it, he acted like i was giving him poison lol. so i didnt offer him anything for a few days, and kept trying just a tiny bit every few days, its been 4 weeks and now he enjoys most of what we give him. he still prefers his bottle tho.

goodluck :)

My DS was fussy over which rice he liked. He only likes the Rafferty's Garden rice cereal. I started with this and made it quite runny using EBM. Did you add try adding her milk into it? We use the entire RG range now (if it is shop bought because to us they taste nicer).

Kian was the same...he'd immediately push it out and gag... went on for a good month trying every few days... He just hated the baby ceral so we stopped that and moved onto pear. I found the heinz pear very smooth and very liquid almost so he was fine with that... then I started the veggies after that. He goes great guns now, and at 6 months has a bit of finger food as well as meat and veg, fruit etc...

Thanks for the replies everyone. Good to know she's not alone!!!

We tried again today with a lot more success. Tried babyrice again but made it very runny! (I've always been making it with EBM). She seemed much more keen and although not a lot went down again she was opening her mouth as the spoon got near and didn't get upset so fingers crossed we are on the way!
