Colic Peak Age

I was hoping for some feedback on what age other people's babies colic peaked and when it started to ease. My DS is 7 weeks and he has had wind since about 3 weeks but it has become really quite bad for the last week. I'm using Infacol drops in his bottles but am not convinced that they actually help. Internet searches seem to indicate that colic peaks at 6-8 weeks. Is this about right? Please tell me it is!

Sounds right from what I was told with DS his turned out to be reflux though. good luck

Hi Elle1972, I'm in the same position as you! My DD is 8 weeks on Tuesday and she has been extremely windy from about 3 weeks. It has gotten so much worse over the last week. Have you tried Infants Friend in her bottles? This helps DD a little, and I agree with the Infacol, I'm not sure it helps DD a lot either. (Maybe sometimes it does but not always). As you say bottles I am presuming you FF too? What formula are you using? There is an anti colic formula by Novalac (called Novalac Anti Colic!) which has worked wonders for some other mums (I've read on some threads) but unfortunately it didn't work for us. Might be worth a try for your DS though. I'm using Novalac Anti Reflux because it is 'thin' in the bottle and then thickens once it reaches the belly and I hope this helps to make her tummy feel better. I'm also going to keep my eye on your thread to see what responses you get because I would love to read that it should ease after week 8!! Good luck with your precious DS.

I had a really rough time with DS #1 who had terrible colic for 5 months. He slept an average of 4 hours a day! The paediatrician put him on double normal dosage of losec for reflux which did nothing. I took him to chiro which was useless. I tried every colic preparation available from the chemist and nothing helped. I got drops from naturopath which did nothing also. Both my Dr and paed said it must be my bad breastmilk and told me to stop BF him after an elimination diet failed to work. I tried Goat formula and Novalac and neither made him feel any better than my milk. Fortunately after 5 months of hell he just came good all of a sudden, had 3 naps and slept right through the night.

Unfortunately, my DS #2 who is 6 weeks old is suffering from exactly the same crap! I don't know if there is anything else I can do. I even tried probiotics which have done nothing. I just hope to God this ends soon coz I can't handle another 4 months of this.

From what I've been told, colic peaks at around 6-8 weeks and passes by 3 months. Hopefully you guys have better luck than I have.
