I am very anxious about my 20 week scan results, it showed up that the nuchal fold was 7.8mm thick (6mm is normal I think). They gave me a 1:50 chance of having babe with downs. I did not have the earlier blood tests/scan at 12 weeks. We went through fertility treatment to achieve this pregnancy and we have decided not to have amino as I can't justify the risk. I'm trying to stay positive but I can't stop worrying. My doctor says he has not seen many cases like this at this stage in the pregnancy. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks

I haven't experienced this myself, however, I just wanted to wish you all the best with your pregnancy.....I hope everything works out for you:fingerscrossed:

I went through a similar experience but instead of thickening they dicovered venticularomagely, which is swelling of the ventricles in the brain caused by the fluid not draining properly. My little girl does have down syndrome but they were not thinking that was the problem they were thinking something else at that point (18 wk scan). I think you should just stay positive, they will probably do a follow up scan in a few weeks to check it again. I don't think you have anything to worry about. You love this baby already, and baby loves you, just have faith in mother nature.:hugs:
