I'm thinking about purchasing an Epi-No to try and prevent tearing this time round. Has anybody used one? Was it effective against tearing?

I used one. My advice would be don't bother. You'll get the same effect with perenial massage. They're extremely expensive also.
I'm glad I used it because the first time I did it scared the sh!t out of me, so I'm glad I didn't have that reaction when it came to actually pushing DS's head out. But since this is not your first birth I wouldn't bother as you already know what that feeling is like. In all honesty that was really the only benefit I can think of.
I tore a little bit (not much) but I only used the stupid contraption about 3 times so I don't think that had anything to do with it. I think the fact that I used a lot of Evening Primrose Oil on that area prior to labour helped more than anything.

Thanks for that Mummabear. I think I'll try the Evening Primrose Oil.
A client of mine used one for her second baby after a episiotomy with her first and swears by it. She didn't tear or bruise for that matter but she did use it regularly. She highly recommends it - I'll be looking into it as the time draws nearer.
Also, I have spoken to a couple of midwives who are converts after having clients who have used them too.

I spoke to my OB this morning and he said because this is my third delivery it wont make any difference at all. First (especially first) and second deliveries it can help. Thanks to you both for replying.:yelclap:
