Are the symptoms for anaemia the same as when ur pregnant as they are if you weren't...
I have been tired like you wouldnt belive even more tired then in the 1st tri i am currently 24 weeks. I do have 2 other kids who keep me on my toes but i always get a reasonable night sleep and have a good diet with the odd treat here and there....
If the symptoms keep going i will see my gp on monday, but jsut curious what ur experiences were like/are like and how is it treated.
I havent had this with either of my other children....

Hi beatono3
I am currently 32weeks into my 3rd preg and I had iron deficiency with all 3!! It seems to become apparent from around the 24-28 week mark and my understanding is that its because in the second half of pregnancy the baby basically "steals" your iron supplies for its own development and stores for after it is born. A big sign for me is that I fall asleep (or almost do) around lunchtime if I sit down on the couch. I NEVER do that unless low on iron!
Obviously running around after 2 kids makes you tired, but if you are getting 8+ hrs sleep and could stil lgo for afew more hours in the day, its highly possible you could be iron deficient. A blood test will confirm.
Treatment for me was taking iron supplements (Ferro Gradumet with vitamin c for absorption) 2 times a day. I know there are other options ie injections and I assume it would depend how low your levels are etc.
In my opinion its worth checking because its pretty easily treated and will make you feel better for the rest of your preg.
Good luck and let us know! :)
