I did the same thing!! I found this site months before we made the decision to start TTC and couldnt resist taking a look (as I was already very clucky and ready to start TTC...it took DH a little while longer!!). Welcome to BubHub! Everyone is friendly and sooo helpful if you have questions!

Come on over the the TTC #1 thread when you're ready! :)

I spent about 8 months on here not allowed to TTC cause I was working through a medical complication...

Great idea to pull the 'clucky but not TTC' together. The support is invaluble

Thanks Izy, I was kinda hoping that, and that it somehow how makes the time fly.
Elleandmum what an amazing time for you tiny bub and trying again soon bet your having fun.

Hi Ladies

Count me in... I have to wait until the end of Jan to go down the TTC path. I have a few medical issues that I need to keep monitored and on meds.. I need to change my meds and get an all clear on my next thyroid biopsy (only get funny smears when pg) and then we can start... currently have a beautiful DD who is the light of my life who is 14 months... well sometimes she drives me insane...

Hey Mods - that's a great idea - can we have a spot for Clucky but not TTC YET?

It would be great to know there are other baby crazy ppl on here who are playing the WAITING GAME!

I myself am waiting for two reasons: 1: to loose some weight, 2: to get our business established so we have some possible chance of affording it.

Tieko

Me Me!!! :D I would now like to join this thread after being directed here by MrsHappy! My partner and I are planning to start TTC around Feb next year. I already have two boys aged 7 and 5 from a previous marriage so this will be my partners first bub! We are waiting for a little bit as we are currently in the process of moving into our new home :valentine: and I have two weeks left until I finish my double degree for good! So a lot going on at the moment but hopefully come next year we will be all nice and settled, and I am hoping to pick up a job before falling pregnant (just in case no one wants to hire me while I'm pregnant!!)

How long before TTC is everyone stopping contraception? I was never on any contraception before my two boys so I have no idea how long it takes to regulate your body again once stopping, I have only been on the pill for 18months though.

Look forward to getting to know you all

Tieko - I have stopped contraception and we're using condoms to protect but to get my period regular again.

Tieko
09-11-2009, 16:01
thanks elleandmum! Hmm i think maybe I will take my pill for the rest of november and december as it would really be waaaaay to busy to accidently fall early in that period..and then have jan/feb off before trying to conceive! I'm on levlen ed at the moment and *from what I hear* it's one of the pills that is fairly easy to fall pregnant from soon after stopping.

:yelclap::yelclap::yelclap:I knew i wasnt the only baby crazy on here waiting.
Just thought i would share a little ablout myself
Im 24 (hoping to be pregnant at 25) hubby is 27, we have just celebrated our first wedding anniversary:valentine: and we've been together for 7 years, we are now in the extreme saving time in our lives and are so close to buying our first home and this is why we are waiting to TTC just want to get the house and then we are on , its also an extreme paying off time in our lives cos not only did we have on amazing wedding last year but we also went to thailand (our honeymoon) and travelled Europe for 4 months so you can imagine the pain that caused our bank accounts!
UM what else... Im a special needs nanny! i look after an amazing lil girl who is challenged in many ways, i love it but dont think i'll be going back after i have babies, i also do volunteer work with an agency called SHINE FOR KIDS who helps kids who have a parent in gaol, im actually trained in welfare but the money is better nannying so hence the volunteer work! um...i live in Sydney and love my hubby haha

Oh and as you can see i love to talk:ecomcity:

Feel free to share ladies i would love to hear your stories
hope we can be of some support to each other

You could spend the time looking into how the pill works and the effects of it.

In hindsight, I would have come off it years ago if I knew!

So i would suggest coming off the pill now, and starting to chart your cycles to get used to your body. That way, when June comes you will be ready to go! Just use condoms when you are in your fertile period!

Hello!! I belong in this thread too.

Well I'm getting married in 10 days!! woohoo... then we are going on a belated honeymoon to Europe and Thailand in April for 7 weeks!

So I'm just waiting patiently for now until we can start trying towards the end of our trip in April/May! Can't wait. Very much hoping to conceive in Italy!! haha

So, I went to the doctor a few days ago (for other reasons) but also brought conceiving up... so i have my little referral to go get bloods to be tested for Rubella immunisation and was recommended to start taking Elevit soon.

I'm aiming to go off the pill in 2.5 weeks (after our little pre-honeymoon), so then i have 4-5 months to get my body right. I hope it's ok.... i've been on the pill for 11yrs! But I was super regular before then. :fingerscrossed:

yay somwhere to post whilst waiting for the right time to TTC.
I have a 2.5yr old DD from a previous marriage. DP and i have recently decided that we want to start TTC mid next year.
Just seems like the right time for us, DD will be old enough to be a little more independant and hopefully we might have a new house by the time we get a little bundle.

Does anyone else want to TTC at a certain time to avoid certain months of the year? Sorry if that doesn't make sense not sure how to word it so i'll explain. We are waiting till june to start TTC'ing as would like a bubs born between march and nov the year after - trying to avoid the summer months. DD was born in winter and i loved it - so hoping for the same next time. Of course if it doesn't happen for a while i will probs do away with that idea cause i will be desperate for a bub!

Not sure when i will come off the pill, was thinking of staying on it till may, but also worried i'm leaving it a bit late if we want to TTC in june

Yes - ideally I would like a pisces girl (think my first will be a girl) and a winter boy (2nd will be a boy).

We also don't want a summer baby as I support attachment parenting and hate the heat!

So anytime b/w march - aug would suit us.

Welcome everyone
We would like to avoid having a Christmas baby so if it hasnt happened by then i will stop TTC for that month, i have a girlfriend who was born on xmasday and its horrible for her, for years her Mum told her she was born Dec 15th so she could actually celebrate her own day but then of course she found out and now misses out as people are so busy around that time!!! Everyone has got me thinking that now i may go off the pill earlier.... argh i dont know so much conflicting info!!

Hello Squishy, your plans sound amazing and kinda like my last year! you will have an amazing next few months, and at least you have a few things to keep you busy. Im bored as a bat at the moment so my brain is on baby overdrive, in thinking about it i was like this before my wedding too

I Belong here too, we will be TTC in Feb due to DH getting some medication out his system, Ive been stalking here a while too!!! :)
We went on a trip to Europe at the beginning of the year and it wiped us out!! We've almost payed it off now and can start saving for baby stuff!!! Yeahhhhh!!!! :D
I purposely havent shown DH this forum yet as he is much more clucky than me and cant wait for little ones to arrive :baby: he read the pregnancy book we have from cover to cover and his fave magasine is the Bubs (baby shop) catalogue!!!!

Tieko
11-11-2009, 08:07
I try and plan babies for a certain time of year too! Although my only requirement is that they be born in the second half of the year...that's because due to the new school system, those born in the first half of the year start prep here at only 4 years old!! I just think that seems way too little to be starting school so have my babies in the second half of the year, that way they will start at 5 and be more 'ready' I feel....but anyway that's just my reasoning!

I'm also starting to think after reading all this that maybe I should go off the pill earlier...but I looked online and the average recommendation from health professionals seems to be around 2 months so I might go with that...which means to conceive in Feb like we're planning - I go off the pill next month . It will all seem so much more scary and real after that!! I'm just worried that once we switch to condoms we'll hate them (as usual) and move on to withdrawel method and I'll end up pregnant earlier than expected lol .

Yeh I'm so excited!! Who would have thought that with a wedding and a big OS trip coming up that I'd have room in mind for babies... even the doctor was like 'wow, you're really organised!'

But I can understand where your coming from about being bored. After all that excitement you need the next big thing to look forward to!

I really don't want to have a baby in November/December. Aside from Christmas, EVERYONE in our families have their birthdays in these months, it's crazy time!!! So if we were to get pregnant straight away, baby would be due at the end of Jan.

Hi Girls,

I'm another stalking the hub and the TTC threads clucking away. I have a 15-month old DD and I work full-time. I'm currently off work sick in bed (thank god for laptops) and I found this thread yay.

DH and I would like 2 children and this week I told him that I'm keen to start TTC within the next 12-mths. He's a little freaked out but warming up as he knows as I'm getting older all I hear is the clock ticking since hitting 30. So looking at TTC around May 2010 (although if I was lucky to fall pregnant than that would mean a summer baby ), but I'd like a 2-3 year gap if possible.

DD was our surprise bub so I've never TTC and I'm a bit overwhelmed about what's involved with TTC regarding when your ovulating, checking temperatures, working out how long cycles go, etc etc...wow, here I was thinking you just keep DTD and wish for the best :o.

DH is a SAHD as well so we'd need to look at him returning to work so roles can be reversed again, as I would love to be a SAHM again (I went back to work when DD was 9-10mths old full-time as my job was the stable one). I'm eligible for maternity leave from May 2010.

Anyhow sorry about my waffle :)

Yay! I found a thread to keep me amused until we TTC also! :yelclap:

My DF and I have been together 2 years and were planning on TTC this month however DF (now) proposed and so we decided to wait until we get maried in June 2010. We will start straight away as we are both SO clucky. I have 1 DD who is nearly 5 from a previous relationship so I am so keep to give her a sibling! I have decided to go off the pill in April to regulate my cycles and such before TTC and just use condoms instead. Looking forward to getting to know you all. :shakehands:

DH and I were trying but we decided that we should have a bit more time with just the two of us (we just got married) and time to pay of some debt and save.

So our ttc will be in May 2010. That would mean a summer bub but it not happen straight away but then we'll be set not matter what from then.

Hi Ladies!!!

Is it ok if join you?? My name is Amy and I'm 24, my husband and I have a 13mnth old son and originally wanted a 3 year gap.. over the past month or so i've been feeling like i can't wait another whole year to start trying and today my husband said "I'm ready for another bub, I think we should start trying!" I'm currently on the Pill and also a tablet for migranes which i can't be on when pregnant and I can't just stop them i need to wean. I think that takes about 2 months. So after some discussion we have decided that we are going to start trying in the New year! I'm going to go off the pill now though to get my body ready and probably start taking a conceive well multi!

Hope to talk to you all soon!

Amy

Yay!!! Thank goodness for this thread! I started a similar thread the other day and wondered why no one had posted  Thanks to a lovely bub hubber for pointing out this thread!! :)

Well a little about me - DH and I have been married for just over a year. We bought a much bigger house a few months ago and recently decided to start TTC in March/April. I'm SOOOOO excited as we've been down this road before, but we decided to put off having a bub till we'd bought a bigger place, otherwise we probably would've been stuck at that house forever!
I'm a bit of a worry wart when it come to money though, but I'm good at budgeting so I know we can make it work once bub comes along.

I'm on the pill but plan to go off it in Jan/Feb. I've started taking Folate tablets and will start on Blackmores Conceive Well Gold in Jan. I've been to the Dr who did blood tests for Rubella immunity etc so now all I have to do is wait!

I'm so happy about this thread, you have no idea. DH is getting a little annoyed with how much I mention baby stuff, so hopefully now I can back off a bit!

Look forward to chatting and wasting the time away with you all :yelclap:

Ahah, this looks like the right place for me. :yelclap:

DH and I have been married for just over six months now. We are currently saving our behinds off for the all-important house deposit, and I'm about to change jobs in the next few months. I am baby crazy, even though I know I have to wait until things settle down a bit first, and I just can't stop stalking the forums!

I'm currently on the pill (Yasmin) but am intending on stopping soon to give my body a chance to get back to normal before we TTC. I'll probably start taking a pregnancy multivitamin a few months before we start as well.

Looking forward to getting to know some fellow addicts.

Hello ladies, I'm another one waiting

We have been married for a year and in our own home for just a bit longer than that. We're saving like mad to get the mortgage down but also taking the time to enjoy life together and spoil ourselves a bit.

We're going on a holiday to Europe in May 2010 and after that we will make the decision whether to TTC or wait a bit longer. But I'll be heading off to the Dr soon to make sure all my injections are up to date (for overseas travel and TTC) so that's pretty exciting (is this the only time needles are exciting? :D)

I have a friend who is due in Feb so I'll be able to get some cuddles in and also gain some hands-on baby experience. That will probably keep me going for a while - or it might just make me even cluckier!

15-11-2009, 15:11
WARNING!!! bubhub can be very addictive :D

I have an iphone so I constantly check out bubhub and facebook etc. Technology is so good these days hey!!

Juf84 - being around a baby will DEFINITELY make you cluckier! When my niece was born I wanted a baby straight away. That was nearly 2 years ago though! A good friend has a 2 month old baby, he's just gorgeous! Although I have learned a lot of "what not to do" from her! I think I've been clucky since I was about 16

Where are we all from ladies? I'm in Melbourne.

I'm in too!

I'm waiting for DP to say its time to start :( I'm ready now dammit! haha! I just worry he doesn't get how hard it can be, all his friends' mrs fell preg within 5 months... He doesn't get how long it will take with me i don't think (I have endo, bad endo)

I've told him... 'when you want kids, deduct two years, as this is how long it might take'

We want kids, he's just not ready at the mo, but i respect that...

Tieko

Oh yay! Good to see that so many more have joined the thread! Can we get it made a sticky by the mods? Save me having to keep searching for it! Well I'm in SE QLD, and we move into our new house next month!! I'm also in the long drawn-out process of trying to sell my little 2-door car because lets face it - it's just not going to accomodate 3 kidlets!

Funny story tho...I have no idea why but everyone keeps asking me if I am pregnant lately!! :crying: Mainly kids too!! Both my boys have asked this month if I 'have a baby in my belly' ...as well as two of the kids at my sons kindy asking as well!! Now either they know something that I don't, or I've put on a noticable amount of weight :( I think it's just 'study weight' though, I usually put on a bit extra around assignment/exam time for my uni due mainly to being chained to the computer with no time to exercise, and eating chocolate to stay awake! But still....we did have unprotected sex whilst on the pill and antibiotics last month....however I did have a normal period after that time....

Anyway that's just me secretly hoping I think, but hey it keeps me occupied until it's time to start TTC! Nice to meet you all!!

I'm in Perth - the odd one out so far, I think.

Tieko - funny story, I used to get strange looks around exam time too, I think I had the same problem with the study food. I wasn't married though, so no one was game enough to say anything :D

Hales83 - I have read bits of that one, will definitely be getting it in for DH when the time comes. It's great!

WOW i thought that there would be a few of us but not this many! good work ladies and yes it would be great mods if this could be made a sticky!!!
Im from Sydney and i agree with all the things you ladies have said.....my DH even said the other day "i think you need to chill about the baby talk you are becoming a bit obsessed" so yeah this thread will need to be my outlet for now. And as for being around babies making you even cluckier a agree, DH spent 2 days in hospital after having knee surgury and was right next to the Maternity ward, it was shocking, my neck nearly broke from trying to be a sticky beek! shocking!! well we decided to try and speed to whole getting a house process up so and going to a talk with a leader tomorrow, im so excited cos this means speeding the baby waiting period up too, our lease ends in Jan as well so would be perfect if we could buy then instead of trying to find a rental again! so ill let you all know how we go, fingers crossed but not getting my hopes up!!! havent bought anything baby related yet but just watch me go once i get up the duff  hope all the waiting isnt sending you all insane

:ecomcity:thats prob enough from me now talk soon

Hi again,

Well I'm lurking in the TTC threads still and glad I'm not alone in the 'craving' if you like for another bub. Still 6-months away from when I HOPE to be TTC so I'm driving myself a little baby crazy, glad I have somewhere to vent. DH is still funny with the idea of TTC #2, so can't really talk baby with him :o.

A few girls from my birth group are pregnant or already TTC and their making me very clucky.

I haven't bought any baby books or goods, but I've vacuum sealed DD's small clothes recently, she's almost completely out of 0's so she's becoming a little girl not a baby anymore :(.

I've bought 'How to afford a baby' which was very useful. I've also started buying little golden books when I see my favourites. But we haven't got any other baby gear (unless you count the baby ID bracelet my DH bought me for me for christmas one year - he thought it was a grown up one but it didn't fit! I think it will be a really special gift for our first born).

I'm so glad there's quite a few of us! What is it with men not wanting to talk babies?! Hehe. DH and I are going to a pre-pregnancy info night next week at the hospital we hope to have our bub at. It's exciting coz it will be another step closer! I just hope DH doesn't embarrass me by asking "where do babies come from?"

Hi All, another bubhub stalker here! This is my first time in a forum so apologies if I press any wrong buttons and stuff up my post.

I am also waiting to TTC. DH and I have been married almost 3 years but we are still getting set up financially. I finish uni in 2 weeks (yay :smiliedance:) and we are waiting to hear whether we will have jobs next year (we are both teachers). Fingers crossed all goes to plan and we will start TTC in late 2010. I can't wait! Though I am worried about how long it will take to conceive as I've been on the pill for 14yrs (more than half my life!) so I really have no idea of what my "true" body is like.

Is it just me or are there pregnant women everywhere at the moment? I'm so jealous!

By the way I'm another Perth girl.

I'm looking forward to sharing this journey to TTC with you all!

Hi all I am from Brisbane. My sister is due to have her first bub in Feb so this may help get me through til June when we get married lol. I hope so anyway. I suppose because I already have one beautiful DD I am not so anxious about having to wait until then to TTC #2. Before I had DD though I wouls stare at every baby that went past me, I couldn't wait to have one of my own. Very excited to be in this thread though - it will be nice to move on to the TTC thread with some ppl I know. I think that's it for now :noel: how cute are these new icons!

This thread is a lot quieter than the TTC thread though girls!! When I was on there about 6 months ago there would be pages and pages to catch up on each day hehe. Maybe we're not as obsessed as we think!
How about another question?.... Like, are you working/studying/stay at home mum??
I work full time in admin/payroll at a car dealership.

I worry that if I spend too much time here I'll get even more obsessed  well I suppose I did something a little bit exciting today. I made a Dr's appointment for next week - to pick up my (hopefully) last pill script and to discuss what I should do be TTC. :yelclap:

Out of bubhub, I am a full time public servant and I love my job. I'm in an area that deals with children and families and it's very rewarding.

Im a stay at home mummy mostly but i do work 3 mornings at a gym creche, only 2 hours a day! I used to work in Childcare before i became a Mum. I don't really need to work but it's a bit of extra money and I get to take my boy with me so he gets to play with some other kiddies..!

I'm a stay at home mum :)

Well yesterday i packed up all dd's 0000 clothes and most of her 000 clothes. The 0000 hasn't fit for a long time and I've been pushing it with the 000. She's in 00 now  and i'm clucky for a little baby again. Dd is so wriggly and sqwirms when you try to cuddle her, she wants to be moving about and playing. Can't wait to begin trying for a baby again.

I work full-time for the government on a IT helpdesk, went back to work when DD was 10-months old, was freaked out at the time about putting DD in daycare so as my DH was out of work at the time it made sense for me to go back (the job was permanant and stable). My DH is a SAHD with our DD currently and he seems to be enjoying it, but I would love to reverse roles soon when/if successful with TTC#2.

Oh bum I wrote a massive post on here last night and its disappeared!
I am a special needs nanny, I look after a amazing little girl that has autism and epilepsy, lots of hard work but she is a beautiful little character.
We went for our chat with the home loan people and it looks like we will be buying early next year yay! Now I just have my fingers crossed that our landlord will extend our lease for a few months otherwise we have to move out in January and that is about 2 months short. It will be a spanner in the works but we'll make it work I'm sure! What about another question. ..... um how long have you all been with your DPs?

I am a SAHM to my 4yo DD. She is in pre prep this year which is a 5 day fortnight so I started studying through an online uni this year also - I am studying my bachelor of education part time and will pick it up full time when DD starts prep next year. I chose to study via correspondence so I can still be around and involved in DD's school activities i.e. excursions and parent helper days as well as being able to still pick her up and drop her off to school.

I love being a mum, it is the best job in the world. I can't wait to have more children - at least I have the wedding planning to distract me!

Definitely agree with MrsHappy - when you know it's right, then it's right. I've been with my DH for nearly 3 years (the first year was long-distance) and we've been married for 7 months, engaged for a year before that. We just didn't see a point to waiting.

I know how you feel Elle - on the wedding forums I'm on you hear stories about people marrying their childhood sweethearts and the father of their ten kids after 20 years - makes me feel very young and inexperienced. Still, we're older than our grandmas were!

DH and I have known each other since '95 (we went to school together, just friends), then in 2000 we started seeing each other, engaged in 2007, married almost 2 years now (but together 9 years next month). Oh our our surprise bub was conceived 3 months before our planned wedding (wasn't a shotgun wedding I swear :) ). We waited too, but everything happens for a reason.

I'm at work and counting down to my lunchbreak, going to buy some more :xmas: pressies for DD, hopefully the hot weather won't keel me over (its 35 at the moment eek). Will try not to cluck too much going past the baby section :o.

whoa so many more posters in here since i last looked.

how do i stop myself from wanting a baby right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DP and i are planning to TTC mid next year cause we want a winter baby. but i want one right now!

I am trying to put it to the back of my mind cause i am pretty sure (99.999999%) that DP is going to propose in the next few months so i know he wants to leave the TTC till after that but its so hard. DD is growing up, toilet training, no more highchair and going into a big bed soon....as i pack the baby stuff away it just makes me want a new baby even more.

HI ladies! How are we all??

DH and I have been together for 7.5 years and been married for just over 4 years! Time sure flies doesn't it! I wanted a bub asap when we got married but the time just wasn't right with money and what not and now i can't believe my little man is already almost 14 months old and we are thinking about trying for another! So exciting!

Hmm what else to ask?? Oh.. Have you already got names picked out for your littles ones??

MrsHappy
18-11-2009, 13:44
I have a definate girls name picked out and a whole lot of maybes for the boys name. My DH didn't like his name growing up so is very picky at his possible son's name, understand I guess!

Hi ladies!! I wish I could pop in here during the day but it's just not possible at work.

DH and I have been together 7.5 years and married for 1 year (and 3 days :valentine:). For the first 4.5 years of our relationship I was at uni and some of that was long distance. We have been living together for almost 3 years.

Like I said in an earlier post, we are just taking the time to enjoy each other, take some holidays and pay off more of our house. But I feel closer to having a bub every day - yesterday I was putting stuff in the 2010 calendar and once I got past May I was thinking "will I be pregnant this month?"

We have aleady settled on the middle names for a boy - the same middle names my DH has and coincidently, the names of our dads! It's perfect. We have a few first names floating around but don't want to get too serious until there's a bub on the way.

Wow, it's been a busy day in here today!! :)

That's great news about the home loan MrsHappy, I hope the landlord let's you extend the lease!

Hmm now I'm scared.... should I not have a summer baby?? Can't be that bad being 9 months PG in summer can it? Arghhh. Who knows, it may take a long time to conceive. That's why I don't want to "plan" too much!

I've been with DH for 6 years, married for 1! Time has flown!! :valentine:

We talk about names quite a bit. There are a couple of girls names I LOVE and the same for boys! The trouble I'm having is that I don't know if they suit an adult.

At least you mummy's have a baby/child already!! What about us first timers
Gosh I just can't wait to experience EVERYTHING!

I think I would prefer a summer baby - then they can go to school a little bit earlier. But I don't think we have too much of a choice, it could take us a long time or no time at all.

The more I think about it, the more I'm keen to start 01/06/2010!! DH better watch out...

I was a summer baby but I do remember my mum telling me to make sure I won't be due in summer :(
What do everyone's parents think about becoming grandparents? Or how did they feel?
My mum wanted us to get a bigger place first, which we have now done but I get the impression she doesn't want to be a grandma yet! Too bad!! Hehe My dad doesn't really say much about it.

MrsHappy
18-11-2009, 20:12
My mum keeps saying that she is too young to be a granny haha, but its probably cos I'm the oldest 'kid' in the family and her brother and sister are still running around after there very young kids!
My DH has gone away for work (to a conference at the Hunter Valley the lucky duck) and he has taken our lap top so I'm doing this on my phone and it takes so much longer and no pretty smiley faces.
Juf84 I just bought my next years diary and was thinking the same thing, and then I immediately thought how am I going to last that long. Its going to be hard, I had a hard time waiting for my wedding to haha. You could call me impatient!

My mum keeps telling me that I have plenty of time... but the moment I tell her I'm pregnant she will be thrilled.

Unless my sister or DF's brother beats us to it (possible but unlikely) our baby would be the first grandchild for both families.

Yeah, heavily pregnant in summer, probably not much fun, I think I would spend my days sitting under the air cooler vent :D I've heard some women say summer is better because you can wear dresses, and winter clothing can be a bit hard to wear (it gets pretty cold here) but then you're not as uncomfortable. But then I don't think you would be comfortable at 9 months anyway!!

MrsHappy, I know it's so hard to wait and I don't want to wish my carefree days away but it's not easy!! Í have lots of things to keep me busy and before I know it it will be mid 2010 (that's what I'm telling myself anyway).

Busy day in here!

Okay - baby names. DH and I have a boys name picked out, which we are keeping to ourselves so no one can steal it. My son's middle name is going to be my grandfather's name, although it's old fashioned it would mean the world to him. I have a few girls names in mind, but keep changing my mind and will probably struggle to settle on one when the time comes.

I'm working on the theory that we fall pregnant when we fall pregnant, and if it happens to be summertime then we'll just suffer. I must admit I would prefer a winter baby to a summer baby though. All the birthdays in our families are in the Nov-April months, I'd love to populate up the winter/spring months with a few more celebrations. By the time November rolls around we're all having cake withdrawals!

I thought I would weigh in on the summer/winter babies topic. My DD was born in summer - January. Strangely I didn't find myself too hot - the fact I could wear a dress was great. Also I was advised that getting up to a baby 2 or 3 imes a night in winter would be VERY cold!(wewere living in Melbourne at the time) I had to agree. I would not want to be getting up out of bed at 2am in the freezing cold to feed and change nappies. Just my thoughts on the subject. And yes I know there are heaters but there is also air con :)

Wow I've missed so much in here!! I'm going to have to check in more regularly now I think! Well my exciting news is firstly that I sold my little 2-door car!! This means that a) we now automatically have the $$$ saved to afford a bubby! and b) we now have my 4-door mazda to fit a bubby and carseat in! I'm also excited because I only have a few weeks left before I go off the pill in december to 'cleanse' it all out of my system in preparation for Feb!! Is there anyone else planning to start TTC in Feb?? I want someone to go into the TTC threads with when the time comes lol

Oh and in answer to a previous question I was/am currently a SAHM who just yesterday finished her double degree after 6 years!!! Next year it all changes though, I will be getting a job (only until I have my next bub tho...so relatively short-term!) and both my boys will be at school...so no more SAHM for me until the next one arrives! I think it will be very benificial working next year before our next planned baby, as anything I save will go towards relieving the stress of buying our new house (move in December!!) and allow me to hopefully stay at home again until the next baby heads off to kindy.

Oh and my partner loves talking about babies!!! Although thiswil be my third, it's going to be his first baby so he is VERY excited and would start TTC now if I gave the word!

Hi Ladies,

i too have been getting vicarious thrills out of bub hub. I love the TTC and Pregnancy diaries.

I'm not even close to starting to TTC yet.
It seems a life time away. :crying:

I graduate university next year.
We want to buy a house and get married too.
And we want to travel to Japan, America and maybe Asia before we have kids.

So looking at that plan i will probably have my first the year i turn 23.
I do have plenty to keep myself occupied with in the mean time.

But i'm still super clucky and have been since i was 17. My mum thinks i'm mental and at 40 she thinks she is way too young to be a Nanny for atleast a good few years.

I've been with DP since i was 16 and he was 20. We were neighbours when i was 13 and we met again at our current workplace while he was a chef and i a waitress (while we studied).

Hi Ladies,

Tieko, that's great news about your car, and congrats on finishing your double degree :yelclap: I did a double degree full time, it took me five years (plus another 6 months for a grad dip) so I know what a hard slog it it - and to do it with children, I couldn't imagine that!. Well done!!

Mygirllindi, thank you for your words of wisdom. We are lucky enough to have central heating and cooling but I would still hate having to get up in the middle of the night in winter... but then what will be will be.

Bluelips, we are a bit the same - DH and I are travelling next year and seeing some of the world. And we wanted to be married and have our own place (which we've now done). It's hard to wait, even when you have plans and other exciting things to look forward to.

Hope you all had a great day :)

:wave:Gee this thread is becoming busy!

I've been with DH for 6 years, married for almost 3 years. All our parents are keen to be grandparents (there aren't any grandkids on either side of the family yet). There's a bit of pressure for us to get things moving as my father in law has cancer and isn't expected to have long to live. We would love for him to see his first grandchild.

I can see the down side of having to get up in the cold winter nights to feed and change a baby but I think it will happen when it wants to happen. As for names, we have a boy and a girls name picked out but they are really old fashioned and I have second thoughts every now and then.

By the way, I really feel for those of you in the hot weather. :sunshine: I'm in Perth and today it has been pouring with rain and barely 20C so I'm rugged up in a jumper. It sure doesn't feel like summer is around the corner here!

I just got back from seeing New Moon :yelclap: anyone else a Twilight fan?

mygirlindi - wow thanks for the summer/winter input!!! I didn't think of it like that. Definitely a positive waking up in the middle of the night in the warmer months. Thank goodness, because I'm not sure I can wait any longer than planned to start TTC!

ziara - I'm so sorry about your FIL. I lost mine a couple of years ago to cancer. I really hope his fight doesn't end anytime soon!

Bluelips - that's such a cute story about you and your DP, wow :valentine:

The weather is crazy in Melb. A sleepless night last night and unfortunately the same again tonight  Where is this cool change?!!!

I am a twilight fan. Saw New Moon thismorning. I love escapism. :)

R.e the pain of labour. I am a student midwife so i have a lot of experience with labour.
I've had a diverse range of experiences and the ones that have had the most significance and stayed with me are the homebirths i have attended.
No pain releif avaliable at home (other than water).

Seeing women cope beautifully through natural labours has given me confidence in my ability to labour.
Although i'm still scared of the pain and terrified i won't be able to handle it. I have seen it is managable. (I'm planning on having a home water birth).

How do you ladies feel about labour ?
Hope all having a good night

Hi everyone
I haven't posted in here before and not really sure if I fit in or not but just thought I would mention my situation to you all so that you dont get stuck in the same position as me. We have known we always wanted to TTC at the end of this year when we had sorted a few other things in our lives, I came off the pill back in august but have not actually had an af as yet and am currently on cycle day 80. I have today been refered to see a gynacologist, like I say dont really fit into this thread but just thought I would advise you all to come of the pill asap as I have felt I have waited long enough as it is to start TTC and I am still waiting as I am not ovulating.

mygirlindi
20-11-2009, 06:23
Yes i completely agree that whenever you conceive is the right time for you. Even when we try to plan these things they generally have their own plan!

Labour pain hey. Well from my experience I woke up at 2am in the morning thinking I had severe diarrhoea (sorry TMI) lol because that is what the pain felt like. Nothing came of it so I thought I better get to the hospital so they could check me out. I was so surprised when they told me I was in labour! haha.

The pain does (in my case anyay) progress throughout the labour - or maybe it's just because it gets closer together so you don't get much time to recover, but as soon as that baby is in your arms, the pain is completely gone! Labour was what I was scared about the most but I would happily say that it would never stop me from having any more children. It is such a beautiful experience.

I can't believe DD is turning 5 in January. It does not feel that long ago I went through all of this. Hurry up June so I can TTC again :smiliedance:

Welcome Bluelips, i think your experiance being a student midwife is going to be great around here!
as for the pain of labour i intend to learn a little more about mind over pain techniques and other things like that, i intend on going as natural as possible! when i mentioned this to my friends (they dont know we are going to TTC soon it was just about someone elses baby) they all said no way give me the epidural ASAP!!! but i thought that before i joined Bubhub and did my own research so maybe its all about knowledege is power!
i have one friend who knows we are going to be trying soon but thats because she is about to complete her chinese medicine degree at uni and im going to get her help with accupuncture and herbs and stuff just in case my cycle is majorly messed up! i had swine flu earlier in the year and she came over and gave me accupuncture and my headache that id had for days was gone! never to return! is everyone keeping this journey to themselves or screaming it to the world???

YAY FOR FRIDAY

Heyside were you on the pill for a long time before coming off it to ttc? I have only been on the pill for 18months so am hoping that 2 months will be enough to get it out of my system...plus I also heard that levelen is quite good for conceiving after the pill...so fingers crossed!

As for sharing this journey - nope it's all secrets here!! Family and close friends do know that we plan to conceive sometime next year though, but that's about as far as they are aware. As for labour pain, after having two natural births, with the last one leaving some long term complications and a whole lot of pain/issues that I won't go into and scare people about (as I was told it only happens to 1%) I will be opting for an elective c-section this time around!! That's scary enough for me though as I have never had surgery of any kind in my life...so I'm a bit worried about it all, and it was a major decision for me to decide to go again for more babies in the future knowing I would need a c-section...well that and the 9 months of morning sickness I get . So basically I hate both pregnancy and birth - lucky the beautiful babies at the end are worth it!

As for the twilight question...yessssssss!!! I went to the midnight screening of new moon - fantastic!

Tell me about it! I have been freezing my toes off today. Very unseasonal.

Heyside - Even though I've only been on the pill for three years, I'm still planning on coming off it in the new year, just to give my body a chance to sort itself out. I really hope your body settles down soon.

As for labour pain, I have promised myself I won't think about it til it happens, but I am fully confident in my ability to deal with it as it comes. It's productive pain, after all, and there's a pretty awesome prize at the end of it.

Well we hadn't told anyone about when we plan on starting our journey, but my DH had a few too many drinks last night and ended up telling one of my best friends. I was a little angry at first, but I work with her so it's probably best she knows anyway. That way when I'm not feeling the best she can make stuff up for me while I'm :barf:in the work toilets!

Hi everyone,

I'm a Twilight fan as well. I love the books but didn't really enjoy the first movie. I think I will have to watch it again and then see New Moon when it is on DVD.

Our family and friends know we are clucky but not when we will be TTC. I will try my best to keep quiet about it! And I already have an excuse for not drinking - several years ago I had a stomach ulcer and any alcohol would make me very sick (as did anything remotely interesting - I couldn't eat pizza for over 12 months ). I'll blame it on that!!

Hi all!! Well not being able to come on here over the weekend almost killed me! I couldn't even get into the forums!! Ohwell i'm here now!

With telling people about TTC everyone asked me recently before we decided to try again sooner than planned when we were having another and i said oh not for a while, we want a 3 year gap etc etc.. then DH turned around and said he was ready for another and so was i so we have told a few people, like my mum, sister and my 2 besties! That's all though! Otherwise i'll have a million people knowing we are going for gold every month and then everyone asking if we are pregnant yet! Oh and i have told 2 people in my mothers group.. one who is planning on TTC at the same time! So a few people actually! haha Oops! Wasn't meant to be that many! I'm just so excited!

We've got our pre-pregnancy info night 2moro night! So exciting! I guess they'll take us for a walk around the maternity ward so we'll get to see some bubs! :yelclap:

Have we done this question yet?..... will you find out the sex of the baby? ..... As much as I'd like to I don't think we will. It would be nice to be able to decorate the nursery in a gender specific colour, but you don't get many surprises in life so I'm hoping I can hold out.

Eventually I would like to find out the sex of bub as I have terrible patience and like to try and plan ahead. Mind you with DD they were very vague about her being a girl and I still spent the rest of my pregnancy being skeptical and didn't go crazy with pink just in case :)

Of course you can Elle, i expect to be kept up to date with everything, i can live vicariously through you till its my turn haha! did you find out the sex with your DD?
Actually to all those already with bubs did you find out the sex in your previous pregnancys?

Yup, we found out the sex. I don't think DH and I could have lasted until the end, we would have asked eventually.

Ahah! Finally Bubhub is up again :xmas: I missed it!

I don't think we will find out the sex, and if we do it will only be for DH and myself, we won't be telling anyone or buying anything too gender-specific until after the baby is born. I'm hopeless at keeping secrets though so we probably won't find out. We're definitely not telling anyone we know about our plans to TTC, although I imagine I'll be talking to my mum about it if things don't go to plan or take longer than expected. My mum is very good at keeping her mouth shut... DH's parents, on the other hand... not a chance.

haven't been in this thread for a few days so just catching up.

DD has been a two year old horror all weekend....sometimes makes me wonder why i am so clucky but then she says 'lub you mummy' (lub=love) and endears herself to me again.

Didn't find out what DD was when i was preg with her but will be def finding out next time. DP is super keen for a boy so might have to look up some gender swaying techniques.

A friend had her 8week old visiting this morning and seeing DD cuddle and talk to the baby.....oh my so cute.

xmas shopping underway at the moment only a month to go.

Just happened :) We'd been trying for about 6 months after we'd suffered a m/c and then I had to go to sea for 6 weeks (was in the Navy at the time) came home, and it all just happened.

Hi Laides,
sorry for my absence. I am on prac at the moment. Very draining.

Hope all is well. I am going to be in Ubud, Bali this time next week so that is pulling me through the 5.45 am starts.

As for finding out the gender. I definitley will. I'm thinking we will ask the sonographer to write it down in an envelope and then go out for dinner that night and reveal it :goodvibes:
(not that i think about this a lot ) haha.

DP said he didn't feel like he needed to find out but i know i couldn't wait. I'm hoping for a girl for my first (my mum and i are real close) but i have always thought i would have a boy first.

Arghhhhh I am so devastated!!!! I thought we were going to the info night at the hospital tonight but this morning I had this feeling that my DH had stuffed up the dates so I called the hospital.... IT WAS LAST NIGHT!!! :( I was sooo looking forward to it. DH feels pretty bad about it, so he should! The lady said she'll send out the info bag in the mail so at least I'll have some light reading while we wait for the next one it's in FEB, grrrr! At least I get to watch PAcked to the Rafters now.

Hi Elleandmum

Do you have info on the diet etc for try for a boy? We decided today that we would try and sway towards a boy and I have until the 19th of Jan before we TTC number two... I've been told to eat a lot of red meat for a boy & dairy for a girl... anyway direction you could point me towards would be great...

As for finding out, we didn't with DD. I loved the surprise at the end... It was just a magical moment, but I've had my surprise baby so I'm in two minds

Tls, if you type gender swaying into the search box you come up with heaps of threads on it, heaps of things about diet and timing and CM stuff!!! hope that helps!

Bluelips that sounds like a great idea, i am the same obsessing over the little things like that :D And Bali sounds amazing....so jealous!!

Hales whoops about getting the dates mixed up!:hair: at least you can look forward to it whislt you do your reading! we are going private too, so maybe i should see if our hospital does something similar, sounds great for forward planning (which i'm all about).

AFM: somehow my phone survived its dive in the toilet so no BUBHUB withdrawal for me! i also got all my info on upgrading my Private health insurance! Goning to upgrade it in DEC so that my 12month waiting period is up next DEC and we will def not have a baby by then but will hopefully be very pregnant by then!:fingerscrossed:

Hi all! How are we??

Amy are you going to do anything different to try and sway your chances like diet or timing of dtd?

We are going to try a few things, maybe some supplements to help make me more acidic which apparently favours the girl sprem.. and then yeah DTD about 3-4 days before O. There's certainly some extremes you can go to but i don't think i want to go that far.. I love my little man so much and if i'm meant to have another boy then i guess that's what's meant to be!

Good afternoon ladies, hope you are all well!

I think with our 2nd bub we'll maybe try gender swaying techniques, but with our first we'll just try to get pregnant I think  Although I secretly want a boy coz that way I know DH would be content. I want him to have that father-son bond. He lost his dad a couple of years ago and I'd be pretty upset if we didn't have a boy.

Those already with baby #1 how long did it take you to conceive? (If you don't mind me asking)

MrsHappy - I can't believe your phone survived :D

Bluelips - I love the envelope idea!! I might have to steal that hehe.

26-11-2009, 07:13
Same here i think with the first we will just go for it but def with the second we will try to sway it the other way! i want at least one of each ACTUALLY my ultimate would be to have a boy first then twin girls but the chances of that are slim to none so im pretty realistic  sounds silly now that i have written it down!

Morning ladies! How are we all?

Well, my latest news is - I'm off the pill! I changed brands a couple of months ago, and I've been naggingly sick since then - a lot of headaches, nausea, light sensitivity and so on. Finally it twigged a couple of days ago, and I just stopped taking it. I feel great now, and as an added bonus my libido is back in force. DH doesn't know what's hit him

I'm not sure if I'm going to stay off the pill, it's a long time til November and that's a long time to use condoms... we're just going to see how we go til the end of my first cycle, and then decide.

Family size wise - both DH and I come from families of four, so four sounds like a good number for us! Honestly, after number 2 we'll probably just take it one at a time, but we both want a large family.

MrsHappy - those xmas photos are going to be soooooo cute! Post one post one!

Hope we all have a good Thursday.

I know what you mean Narribri about the change in libido as i have since gone off the pill after af arrived to try and start ttc #1 and am amazed at how normal i feel. The pill just made me lose interest.

Mrs Happy - animal pics are so cute for xmas...would love to see how yours turn out.Would love to get my lab with the santa hat on but i think i would have to tape it to his head..Will just have to be happy with the one i have of him wearing a champion beanie.

Hi all

For DD we did not use any gender swaying techniques but I really wanted a girl - I guess it is always 50/50 anyway so I got lucky.

This time we really want a boy so I would definately be tempted to gender sway.

In response to how long it took with DD to conceive - it took only one month. I was pregnant within the first month of trying. The only thing I did different was DTD every single day - sometimes twice lol!

So next time I would be likely to do that again however with gender swaying it is recommended you only DTD on the day you are ovulating to have a boy so it might take longer next time if we only DTD on that day as it is sometimes difficult to get it right.

Is everyone excited about christmas? I can't wait!

Hi girls!!

I've had bubhub withdrawals - the last few days have been so busy that I haven't made it on

We'd love to have at least 2 kids, possibly 3. I am one of 2 and DH is one of 5, but he is not keen for a big family. He has his own reasons which make sense to me so we will probably not go past 3.

At this stage I really don't mind what we have, boys or girls - I'm a big beliver in seeing what happens. We also don't want to find out the sex before birth.

Anyway, good to catch up you all :yelclap:

MrsHappy that's soooo cute about the photos, you definitely have to post one!

I got the info from the hospital in the mail today, yay!! They sent a really cool book that will be helpful one day soon, it's called The Nappy Bag Book. The rest was just about the hospital and what not to eat when pregnant! My gosh there is a lot you can't eat!!! I love sushi, salami and soft cheeses arghhh this is going to kill me haha! What food are you going to miss most during pregnancy?

As the # of bubs, we'll most likely stop at 2. Depends how we're going financially and the sex of the other 2. If they are the same sex I'd want to try for a 3rd.

Ok here's a question totally off the baby topic.... Do you wear foundation? If so which one? I dont think I can get mine anymore. It's Avon, it took me forever to find one that doesn't irritate my skin.

I went off the pill about 8 mths back for a few months (started taking it at 16) sex drive was a lot better but AF was horrible! Very heavy :(

Hi Girls

Hope you are all well. I have finished prac (for the moment) but am feeling very sleepy.

As for number of kids i'd like 4 or 5.
DP thinks 5 is pushing it but i am the eldest of
6 + 5 step siblings. So 11 children !
DP was practically an only child but he knows i love the chaos and sharing of a big family.
Have not relaly considered the financial aspect though.

I wear mineral foundation most days. Don't like liquid it looks funny with my freckles.

You do miss it but you adapt... With DD i ate a lot of can Tuna & salad sandwiches, Curried egg sandwiches, Salad sandwiches, bake beans & cheese on toast & left overs.

Also if your feet swell when pregnant a OB told a friend of mine to eat eggs.

I got GD with DD so I was very limited with what I ate. But I really missed swordfish while I was pg

I'm going to miss cheese, seafood, wine... all the good stuff

I just got home from the Dr's, we had the pre-conception talk. I've got a referral for bloods - very exciting. And I'm also at a higher risk for twins :hugs: apparently. The Dr asked if I had twins in the family... Mum's a twin, and DH has siblings who are twins. Wow. I'd be a bit shocked but of course we'd love it.

Off topic... I don't wear foundation - I'm a bit lazy. I cleanse, tone, and wear spf moisturiser but that's it. Although I've used the mineral stuff for my wedding and loved it. I've also tried tinted moisturiser - some are better than others but I'm happy to go au naturale.

Juf84 funny that you went for your pre conception talk cos i made my appointment for mine next Thursday! im due for a pap smear any way and im pretty sure i need a chicken pox vac as ive never had it and to check my other immunities and ive just read up on my Pill and found some pretty odd facts so i want to have a chat about it! i know its only a doc appointment but its a step closer and im :smiliedance:

Juf what else did you talk about? ive asked for a lady doc so im completely comfortable but its at my family GP so they have all my history!

OMG Ive missed so much!!! My computer decided to die for no apparent reason and it won't even turn on! So I'm on someone elses atm. Well exciting news for me is that.... I took my very last pill yesterday!! So excited, now im just going to get all the hormones out of my system for a couple of months and then - ttc time!! I havent been to the doctors yet for a pre-conception visit tho as I'm waiting till we move in about 3 weeks as I will need to switch doctors!

Okay question thofor those of you on pregnancy multivitamins already - which one are you taking/ which one is recommended these days? It's been 5/6 years since I was last pregnant with my youngest I realised, so I know a lot has probably changed! I used to take elevit tho...is that one still good?

Morning ladies! I'm up earlier this morning for some reason, it's good though. I hate missing out on my weekend!!

MrsHappy - I'm pretty sure you can eat Indian while pregnant! You may just want to eat more of the mild dishes rather than the hot ones?
What were the odd facts you found out about the Pill??? Are you taking Levlen?
Yep you should definitely get the chicken pox vac! I got it a few years back! It's not covered by Medicare though and I think there's two boosters. Your doc will take some blood and check your immunity though. Apparently you can have chicken pox without even realising - yeah right!

Elleandmum - It's none of the docs business when you decide to have your next bub. As long as there's no medical reason, I'd tell the doc to stick it!!!
A girl I went to school with is about to have her 3rd. She'll have 3 kids under 3!!!!!!!

Tieko - I'm currently taking Folate each day but once I'm off the Pill I'll start on Blackmores Conceive Well Gold. It's a tablet and a capsule each day and I think they are a little more expensive than Elevit?? The Blackmores one has an important vitamin in it that Elevit doesn't have. I think it may be Iodine? There are a few threads about preconception vitamins, maybe have a look there.
That sucks about your pc by the way!!

AFM - Had a lovely relaxing spa with DH last night. It's a great way to wind down after a busy week! Tonight we are going out to a new restaurant, can't wait! I think I might have a seafood dish seeing as I won't be able to eat it soon

Those already with baby #1 how long did it take you to conceive? (If you don't mind me asking)

We conceived on the second month of trying.. we were very lucky!

I've read some ladies put a pillow under their bottom to arch the pelvic area after sex....not sure I will go to that extreme unless we've been trying a while

We did this, i'd put the pillow under my bum after we BD'd and layed there for 10 minutes before getting up to give the little swimmers a good chance to get up there.. however this time i don't think i'll be doing that because that will just help the little boy spermies to get up there quicker... I think i'lll just lay there flat for a while.. ?

I got the info from the hospital in the mail today, yay!! They sent a really cool book that will be helpful one day soon, it's called The Nappy Bag Book. What food are you going to miss most during pregnancy?

Sounds good! What's the Nappy Bag Book?

Ahh I don't actually eat soft cheese so didn't miss that... one thing that wa hard was when people got like Pizzas from Dominos or wherever as you always had to pick off the salami, ham etc etc! I used to get a vegetarian one but got over that pretty quick! I used to still eat Roast chooks but would zap it in the microwave before eating it and make sure it was REALLY hot... I wasn't pregnant through christmas but that would kill me because i just LOVE chirstmas ham off the bone! My sister is doing it for the 3rd time this year! She's onto her 4th pregnancy but her last was born in October so she wasn't preg in Dec!

Ok here's a question totally off the baby topic.... Do you wear foundation? If so which one?

Ahh i wear a liquid one from Loreal Paris.. Really like it!

I want to go see a doctor with a pre TTC talk but I don't think they'd be too keen on it seeing as how DD is still so young. I know she's young but we want babies close together. I agree, the Dr has no right to tell you when you can have another baby! You guys know when the time is right so tell him/her to shove it if they try!

Yay for taking your last pill!! When i was trying to conceive i was on the Blackmores pregnancy and Breastfeeding Multi and then i just stayed on that when pregnant... Didn't know about te Conceive Well gold when i was trying.. I think i'll just be doing the same again this time..

Hi girls!

I wrote a huge post last night... but it disappeared :geek: anyway, I'll see if I can remember it!

Mrs Happy - we didn't discuss too much, the Dr advised me to take folate or eat lots of leafy green veggies. He also said I should cut down on the alcohol - but as soon as he said it he realised that I actually don't drink very much! He weighed me and took my blood pressure.

I've got a referral for bloods - to check my antibodies to rubella, chickenpox, hepatitis, and to test me for HIV. Hales - you are right about chickenpox. I had it as a child without any symptoms. The only reason we knew is because I was already in hospital and it showed up in my blood test.

Elle - he also commented that he was pleased to see me thinking about TTC at my age. He's asked me a few times in the past year whether I was planning have children soon, so hopefully your Dr won't judge you on your age (not that anyone should be judged for being an older mum either).

I'm about to go and put the :tree: up! Have a great weekend everyone.

Morning ladies! Hope we all had a great weekend.

I went to see New Moon yesterday at the pictures - after all the hype I expected it to be fairly oestrogen-fuelled, but it was really good!

Hales - I'd love a baby for Christmas too! Considering I'm off the pill for this month (and this month only :( ) it'd be more like a baby for New Year's, but I wouldn't complain if it were late! I'm getting an iPod Nano though, pretty pleased about that!

I'm not too stressed about blood tests or anything like that yet - but then I think I've got the longest to wait til TTC of all you lovely ladies. I'll worry about all this next year, and in the meantime listen and learn.

Have a good week everyone.

Hello ladies!!

I have missed out on heaps!! Haven't posted since about page 2 or 3.

Well I just got married a week and a half ago! Yay... and I stopped taking the pill a few days after the wedding. So I'll be interested to see what my body does, as this is the first time in 11 years off the pill... so far it has been my longest period ever.

I had my bloods taken a few days ago to check my rubella immunisation... I should find out today/tomorrow. And when my multivitamin pack finishes in a couple of weeks DH and I will start on Elevit (him on Menevit), which was recommended by our doctor.

So now the countdown is on until we leave for Europe... 4 months and 4 days!! We start TTC in the south of France!:smiliedance:

I haven't had a chance to read this whole thread... are some people not going to wear makeup when pregnant!? I definitely cannot give up my makeup!!! Not that i wear heaps, but its a must. haha

Meanwhile EVERYONE is preggars and sending me their scan photos via email all the time!! Makes waiting hard! But I can't start yet, cause I really want to have a least 1 or 2 red wine and soft cheese sessions in Paris beforehand!

elleandsam
30-11-2009, 12:07
Squishywishy - it's not that I choose not to wear make up it's just that I can't because it makes my skin break out hardcore.

Names, anyone picked yet?
We're going with Corey Jackson for a boy and Kaitlyn Lilly for a girl.

AmyLou
30-11-2009, 13:26
Welcome Squishy! Never heard anything about not wearing makeup, i did throughout my pregnancy!

Elleandmum - We have a name if we have a girl next so i'm hoping that's a sign! haha wishful thinking! When pregnant with Blake we only had a boys name picked! If we have a girl she will be called Mikayla.. Have loved that name for years!!! Not sure of a middle name yet!

SquishyWishy
30-11-2009, 13:27
Oh right that's fair enough elleandmum! I haven't read all of the previous posts properly yet. I'll be lost if that happens to me... wouldn't be surprised though, I've only been on the pill for so long to keep my skin clear. I'm hoping i don't break out just by going off it. :fingerscrossed:

Hmmmm.. names..

Girls - Charlotte Amelie or Charlotte Rosalie i think. Although I also like Grace, Elisabeth and a few other old fashioned names.

Boys - Peter for a middle name definitely.. First name we can't agree on but thinking about Oliver, Edward, Alexander and Jackson. (although i think a friend has already taken jackson).

Evening girls!!!

Squishywishy I'm the same as you!!! I'm terrified of going off the pill and what it will do to my skin :( The reason I went on it was because my last bubba gave me a hormone inbalance which resulted in acne and I'm so terrified of it coming back again...but I took my last one the other day so I guess I'll find out soon! Also another exciting thing for me is that I took my first baby multivitamin today!! Yay! I decided to go with the blackmores one on the advice of the chemist, mainly because it has fish oil in it and I'm meantto be taking it anyway so it's now one less pill...plus I usually need the blackmores morning sickness pills when I actually fall pregnant so I figure that the same multivitamin might be more compatible?

As for names we don't have anything solid yet so we'll have to wait and see, and although I already have two boys, we've decided not to gender sway OR find out the sex as we're going to have two more kiddies yet anyway! So we'll dfinately need to consider both boy and girls names!

I'm so excited that we only have two months befoe ttc...but to be honest I'm not sure if we'll be able to wait that long! Neither of us are big fans or barrier methods..so it'll pretty much only be the withdrawel method we;ll be using (which we all know isn't very foolproof!) ..what method is everyone else using after the pill before they ttc?

hales83

Hi all how are we??

Question... some of you are starting your multi's quite early before you are starting TTC?? Have you been told to do this?? I'm almost out of my normal mullti so was going to get pregnancy ones instead but we willl be TTC in Jan/Feb.. not sure when i'm allowed with these stupid tablets!!

Hope everyone has a nice day!

elleandsam
01-12-2009, 09:49
I'm going to be starting multi's in about a fortnight, maybe they'll give me some more energy to run around after DD with

But seriously the wait is killing me, but it would be doubly hard to be TTC while spending a month travelling to my family and DHs family, it'd just be a nightmare.

Tieko
01-12-2009, 09:54
AmyLou I would switch to the pregnancy multivitamins when you run out! I'm planning on ttc around feb and have just started taking them....the chemist told me that doctors usually recommend you start pregnancy multivitamins 3 months before ttc - hope that helps!

I'm also thinking I should really start some sort of exercise regime up - I put on 18kgs in both my pregnancies and although I returned close enough to my pre-pregnancy weight I reallllllly don't want a repeat this time! Would really love to get into some sort of pregnancy yogaor something this time so will check what is available when I actually fall pregnant. I also can't wait to start reading the pregnancy mags!! I loved LOVED them my other pregnancies!

Hi AmyLou - :iagree: take the pregnancy vitamins after you finish up the multi's. I read somewhere (I think it was on the Blackmore's website) that they recommend taking their tablets up to 5 months before TTC. And if DH/DP will be taking Menevit, remember it takes 3 months to get a good batch of sperm :D
Sorry, just done a lot of reading

:yelclap: for the pregnancy mags! Which one would you recommend?

I can't believe I'll be starting my last pill packet next week. The time leading up to TTC is actually going pretty fast. Maybe I'm getting a little scared now

Apparently the "volume" of you know what increases when they take Menevit so I think DH is interested to find out if it's true :laughing:

 yep you have evidence that DH's spermies are good but I think Menevit makes them as healthy as possible. Just tell him he has to!! Or you could always take the label off them and say they're just a multivitamin like a friend did! (She got pg in the first month of trying by the way!!)

Haha, Good luck elleandmum!

I just told DH that he was taking Menevit and that was it. I'll probably have to remind him everyday!! And yes I too read that he should start taking them at least 3 months early... well we're 4 months out, so nothing like being prepared. Plus I told DH that he drinks too much beer and doesn't exercise at all and that he needs all the help he can get. Haha, now he is buying me a bike so we can exercise together... so he seems to be looking forward to getting healthy and giving it our best shot.

Plus, I have NO patience... I told DH we need to be in the best possible positions to conceive early on, otherwise I'll be a pain to live with.

Hayles I know what you mean...everythng seems to be going so quickly now and it's all getting close! I think that has a lot to do with christmas time tho and everyone being busy and distracted! I used to read both practical parenting and mother & baby...epecially loved following the pregnancy stories in them!! iCrazy
02-12-2009, 21:06
Iron & B12... i have a deficiency in both of these! So im tried a lot!

narribri
03-12-2009, 09:04
Yep, definitely iron and B12 - most multivitamins have both of these, plus eat a reasonable amount of red meat and you should be good.

Elleandmum - how exciting! I hope the result turns out to be what you really want :yelclap:

Hales83 - that's good to know about Menevit, think I might start trying to convince DH to take it too

AFM - I've been so tired this last week, I've only just figured out it was because I had my pill period and then a withdrawal bleed four days later - so (sorry for TMI) I've been bleeding for nine days out of 14. Spaghetti bog for me last night, and a nice juicy piece of steak tonight.

I'm nearly out of my regular multivitamins, humming and ha'ing about whether to go straight onto pregnancy vitamins or just leave it for a few months - they're a bit more expensive, but not that much more really. A year in advance is such a long time though!

SquishyWishy
03-12-2009, 09:31
Yep I second Iron and B12. I think it's best to eat more meat (and even with a glass of orange juice to help your blood absorb the iron) rather than anymore vitamin supplements.

Narribri, i had my last withdrawal bleed for around 8-9 days too! And then this bl0ddy headache for 5 days. So I guess its all normal.

I just started taking the pregnancy vitamins. We aim to start trying in April. If you're a year away from starting TTC, I would probably just continue with the regular vitamins until maybe 3-5 months beforehand. Because you're right they are a bit more expensive and may not be any extra help to you so far out.

Well i thought of another boys name.... Austin Peter. We actually agreed on one! But everytime we like a name someone we know steals it (unknowingly). That's the problem with thinking about it all too much so early on.

Hi Everyone, just wondering if there is anyone else on here stalking this forum till they are ready to TTC? I am BABY CRAZY and so is my hubby :kiss:but we are purchasing a house in June so want to wait till then to try for a bubba, but i just cant stay away from baby things and that includes bubhub!!! so far our plan is to go off the pill in March to give my body a chance to settle down and then start trying as soon as we buy our place and :fingerscrossed: that is June otherwise im going to go crazy!!! Everywhere i go all i see is bubs and beautiful pregnant ladies and oh how i envy them!! i just wish i could fast forward the next 7 months or find a suitcase with some cash in it
i thought maybe we could keep each other company and try and make to time fly by!
Hoping its not just crazy old me here....

I'm with you, I also can't wait and pregnant bellies are everywhere!!!! one of my workmates just told me she was pregnant today!

I'll be starting TTC around the same time as you, June next year :fingerscrossed:

Its nice to see so many girls here that are in a similar situation. DH and I have been talking about babies a lot, but both of us know it isnt time yet - we're both studying part time. I finish my degree next May, and should get my results by the end of June. I have a really stressful work environment though and I'm worried that it will affect my pregnancy. I'll probably need to get into meditation or something ;) another reason Im waiting is because I want to lose some weight first. I'm not a big girl, but want to be in peak physical fitness before I get preggers, it'll be easier to get rid of the baby fat afterwards :P

Good morning!

Ooh I can't wait to make my house Christmasy... we couldn't get the tree last weekend cause it was pouring.

I'm not too concerned about the interest rate rises, we fixed our home loan a couple of years ago before they went up (unfortunately though our rate is higher than the current one... boo).

MrsHappy, I'm the same about not 'loving' any boys names. I'm sure something will grow on us.

I still haven't heard from the doc about my blood results, so I assume everything must be fine... better check though i guess.

Hope everyone has a lovely Friday!

We're loving the interest rate rises, lol, we don't have a mortgage yet. It's good for our deposit though! It is kind of worrying watching them go up so fast, at this rate we're never going to be able to afford to get into the market.

Our tree has been up for a couple of weeks now, I set all the stockings up last night and everyone's presents are spread over the bed in the spare room waiting to be wrapped. I feel abnormal for being so organised

Hello ladies, how are we all?

I found out today that another woman at my work in pregnant. That makes it 5 within a year (at a workplace of about 50 people) - must be something in the water! How I wish it was me.;)

On the bright side DH and I had a talk last night and are thinking about TTC earlier than we had planned. :yelclap:We were trying to get sorted more financially by working for at least another year before TTC but now we are hearing our biological clocks ticking (and I've shared a few long-term TTC stories from Bubhub with him) and we are thinking of me coming off the pill at the end of my pack and just letting things happen if they happen. That would mean I have only 5 more weeks on the pill - yikes! Considering I was first put on it within 4 months of my first period (some 16yrs ago) and haven't stopped since I'm thinking it will take a while to sort out what my normal cycle is. and for me to get used to the idea of not being on it!

Hmmm, what else have you been discussing in this thread? Names...we have a couple of girls names that we both love and there is a boys name floating around that my DH likes but I'm not so keen on it.:p

Here's a question to go on with. Obviously at this point we all want happy and healthy babies but deep down do you have a preferred gender and number of children? I always picture us having a daughter and then a son.:) Time will tell!

MrsHappy
05-12-2009, 07:09
Hi Ziara that is so exciting about moving ttc forward! Oh how I wish I was too! I'm also a long term pill user so it is all a bit of a guessing game isn't it!
I would ultimately love a lil boy then twin girls, specific much haha.

Still waiting to do that test! But deep down I have a feeling it'll be negative. Oh well.

I've started taking multi vitamins again, as well as an iron supplement and calcium. I've just felt so run down and tired lately while running around after DD (don't let me put you off ;) ) that even if I'm not pregnant right now, it's got to help.

I've got to stop eating so much crap food! I just eat junk all the time. New Years resolution, no more yuck food!

As for specifics. I would love 5 children, but DH wants only 2. At least if the next one is also a girl I might be able to convince him for a third!

Hi ziara, congrats on bringing TTC forward, how exciting!

In the heat of the "moment" this morning DH said "don't take the pill anymore" meaning let's just go with it now and see what happens.... Grrr so annoying! Why say
that? Thinking with his you know what instead of his head!!

I'm hoping for 2 kids. Boy first then a girl :)

Tieko

Hello all!!

Looks like we may also start trying to conceive a little sooner than expected as well lol, we went out the other day and my man brought a teddy panda cot toy for our future baby... nawww I love how clucky he is!! :cloud9: So I really don't think we will last out until Februaury to start trying...might end up starting more like Januaury! As long as I get one full cycle off the pill to get it out of my system then I am more than okay with falling pregnant early though!

As for what I would I would 'ideally' like in terms of kiddies - I would love 4 kids...boy, boy, girl, boy! I actually prefer boys as I think they are 'easier' in a way, I've seen girls start with the emotional catfights from 2 years old!! ..."You're not my best friend anymore" that kind of stuff lol, but I would like at least one little girl just to see how my genetics would come into play and how much they turn out like me. But I already have the two boys, so a girl next and then another boy would be great thanks :p

I just got my rubella immunisation results back and all is normal. So now it really is just the waiting game.

That's cute Tieko that your husband is buying toys for future baby! We have bought a rocking chair and a super cute wall decal for the nursery wall... DH wanted to put it up straight away, haha, but I was like ahh maybe not, wouldn't know how to explain that to visitors. We're not telling anyone we're TTC next year.

Oh I wish I could buy some baby stuff :(
I was on eBay earlier looking for a baby gift, there was the cutest little unisex outfit, i wanted to get it for my future bub. Don't think DH would let me though.
DH tidied up one of the spare bedrooms yesterday. It's going to be the nursery! It's so exciting seeing it all tidy now...I can actually imagine a baby being in there now :)
well I hope you all had a great weekend! Dreaded Monday coming up, but at least the days are flying by!

It seems everyones DH/DP/DF are falling to the cluckiness! DH and I have a standing joke that we set the wedding date the same day I got him a new latop - so it was apparently a bribe. He turned to me today and said "I'm willing to negotiate a new laptop for TTC start..." I said does this mean you want to start trying? To which he replied "When I get my upgrade" and winked at me..

So I have a feeling he's feeling ready!

Hi All,

Been a bit slack posting, I've been stalking the stalking thread though :)

Looking forward to xmas being over, after xmas is over it means 2010 is here and let TTC begin (well 5-months later for me unless I can twist DH's arm)! :)

We moved house 2-months ago and now have an extra room and more space for Bub #2. Our spare room is pink so this works out well for DD being shifted into there, then the other room is a neutral colour for a boy or a girl.

I'm getting even more super clucky, another person from my birth group is pregnant and there are others already actively TTC, so excited for them.

We put our xmas tree up last night which is baracaded by couches and a coffee table, hoping this will keep our DD from destroying it :)

SquishyWishy - Not sure about specific TTC books, but there are lots of websites (not sure if I can post them here though?).

Oh wow witherwings, I didn't even think of looking up giving birth on YouTube!! Maybe I'll try that.
I want a baby now too!! Although I'm quickly realising how much is going to have to change! Everytime I hand over my debit card to buy something I think 'hmm, I won't be doing this for much longer'.... I won't be able to treat myself all the time, we won't ne able to go out for dinner at a drop of the hat.
But we will get to watch our little bub grow and learn each day... What could be better than that!

Another question: do you have a pet(s)?
We have 2 dogs (a pug and a German shepherd) and a budgie. The pug is my baby, he's pretty much human!

hey hales, we dont have a little furbaby yet, we need a backyard first ;) will probably get a puppy before bubs is born, DH and I talk about a puppy more than we talk about babies :P we'll need to buy a house in the next year, just waiting to see what happens with the ppty market so we can top up our existing loans to get a deposit together.

I know what you mean about thinking how things will be different with a baby. I was walking through westfield today getting lunch and thinking how that would be so different with a baby... and shopping would be different, and pretty much everything. but we'll try not to let a baby restrict us, we're very set on incorporating a baby into our current lifestyle.. im sure all the mothers here are rolling their eyes going "good luck" hahahah we can always dream, right? :)

We're kind of lucky in that a baby would fit very well into our current lifestyle - we don't go out much, we hardly spend anything on entertainment because we're saving so hard for a house, we pretty much just work and sleep.

DH and I had a bit of a 'woopsie' last night so I'm in the TWW, heh. I am trying sooo hard to not get excited and get my hopes up, because this is my last chance til next November (have agreed to try the Nuvaring next cycle) I am sooo hoping for that Christmas BFP though. CD10 is definitely in the danger zone, right?

Narribri!!!! Found you! :D
Ohhh how exciting about your "woopsie" A christmas BFP would be so special!
CD 10 is definatly in the danger zone as long as you have like 28 day cycles or similar....CD 10 is nothing for me cos when im off the pill i usually have 38 day cycles

I have fingers crossed you have a little suprise for xmas!!

Oh wow, good luck Narribri :yelclap:

I just watched a couple of childbirth videos on youtube. I don't know what to think now
My main concern is being "exposed" like that in front of a lot of people. But I guess once I'm actually in labor I won't have time to worry about that.

Is everyone having time off over Xmas/New Years?
I've got the first week of Jan off.

Another question: do you have a pet(s)? We have 2 dogs (a pug and a German shepherd) and a budgie. The pug is my baby, he's pretty much human!

Our dog also thinks shes human! (and I'm embarrassed to admit that we treat her like our child - so sad, and spoilt :o) She is a staffy-kelpie cross and likes to think she is a lap dog even though she weighs 25kg. If she hasn't had her daily walk then she will come inside after dinner and tear around the coffee table doing laps at full speed. It is hilarious and we can't stop laughing :laughing::laughing:. She'll pause for a second at the laughter and if we say "go nuts!" then she'll keep going until she's worn herself out.

We also have chickens.

Good luck Narribri:fingerscrossed: Wouldn't a BFP make a great christmas present!:xmas:

Morning Girls!

*sigh* well I'm over being tired! I've just been sooooo tired lately and I think it's because I have gone off the pill! It must just be the way my body's reacting to it...but I fell asleep watching a movie last night and it was only 9:30pm!!! How has everyone else reacted to coming off the pill? Luckily I haven't had any other hormonal effects like moodiness, cramps, acne etc yet.

Well on anothernote..I'm so excited!! We only have 5 days until we move into our new house!!!! :yelclap: We have half our things there already though and yay...it's starting to look like home already! Ialso took my youngest son to his prep open day there yesterday...I can't believe both my boys are going to be at school!! They are growing up sp quickly and it just makes me want a baby so much more.

narribri
09-12-2009, 08:54
Tieko - I actually came off the pill much easier than expected. There was a LOT of moodiness and tears during the withdrawal bleeding, I could literally feel the hormones surging through my body IYKWIM. Once the bleeding stopped, I had terrible problems with migraines for about a week - nasty, ongoing throbbing headaches that just wouldn't shift no matter what I did. Now I'm at about CD11 today, and for the last 4-5 days I have felt great! I'd forgotten how feeling normal feels, not to mention the libido :smiliedance:Good luck with the move!!!

Hales - I've seen most of those birth videos on Youtube, most of them are kind of dodge to be honest. There are a few really good ones though. I hate the ones where the staff pull the baby out really really roughly and shove the sucker up its face and take it away straight away without giving it to the mum - I sit here and think 'Oh no you don't!'
Re: time off - I'm actually leaving my job, finishing up at the end of the first week in Jan, so I'm working through Christmas. Kind of sucks, but at least I'll get time in Jan and DH has some booked as well so we'll have a proper holiday before I start temping.

Squishywishy - good luck with your Maybe Baby. It's on my wish list for when we start seriously trying. Let us know how you go with it :)

Ashy - Hiiiiii! Good to see a familiar face, heh. Good luck with TTC #3, although I already said it elsewhere.

AFM - it's Wednesday. That's about all I have to say about today so far. Bring on the weekend.

Narribri! - thanks hunny!!!! goodluck to you aswell!!!!!
Is this your first cycle off the pill? It is mine, and OMG the headaches!!!!!! im popping panadol like theres no tomorrow!!!! im on CD 10 and they are easing off a bit but still niggly!
But when i was on the pill i thought i felt normal, but now off it, apart from the headaches i feel soooo much better again!!!

hales83
09-12-2009, 19:21
Narribri - I loved the videos of the bubs in their mums arms straight after birth. So cute!!
Argh it's killing me, I just want to start trying now! I think I might start reading my baby books in Jan.
Ziara - that's so cute about your dog!! My pug does "rabbit runs" around the coffee table hahaha. Gotta love it!
Oh girls that's not good about your headaches and feeling tired!! I hope your bodies sort themselves out soon. I'll be starting my last pill packet on Saturday, yay!
It's looking like we'll be starting TTC in April...this is going to sound horrible but if we conceive in April then I'll be due so we are eligible for paid maternity leave. God
that does sound bad doesn't it?! I'm a massive worry wart when it comes to
money so I figure anything extra is going to give me more time at home with our bub.

Tieko
09-12-2009, 20:16
Oh I didn't even consider that headaches were a part of coming off the pill!! I've had them as well, not too bad at the start...but for the last few days I've been dosed up on panadol! I made the mistake of googling 'coming off the pill headaches' and unfortunatley came across a whole forum of women who hadn't got their period back after coming off the pill for over six months, weeks of withdrawel bleeds, and other horrible side effects :( I was really hoping that I would come off the pill and then go back to regular cycles like normal...which I guess was a bit nieve to think in retrospect! Hopefully I don't take too long to regulate though.

narribri
09-12-2009, 20:29
Tieko - good luck with the regulating, I have my fingers crossed for you.

Hales - Paid maternity leave is ok, but you do have to consider that you don't get FTB part B or the baby bonus if you take the leave, and it's also taxed as opposed to tax free. I haven't done the sums, but you might want to check what the difference is if that's the only thing stopping you from TTC right now.

AFM - my cycle seems to be regulating itself nicely. CD12 and I've got EWCM and ovulation pains, which is pretty much bang on what I usually am off the pill. DH and I seem to have given up on the whole condom thing, so we're just going for broke this cycle. Omg I hope this works!!!

Work was dragging soooo bad for me today, anyone else feel like today went on forever?

hales83
09-12-2009, 20:32
Tieko I'm sure you'll take no time at all to regulate your periods :) I was fortunate enough to get my first cycle 25 days after coming off the pill and then I pretty much had a 26 day cycle for the 6 months I was off the pill. I think the most important thing is to relax and just do things as you normally would.

hales83
09-12-2009, 20:49
Narribri - I was wondering if the maternity leave payment was taxed, thanks for that I just read up on it. No it's not the only reason we were waiting till April. I really want to start in March!!! Maybe I could talk DH in to March haha.
Nope today flew for me. I had payroll, so glad it's over! The week is going slow though :(

hales83> re: time off over xmas - yep, DH and I both have a long annual leave that we're taking, going away up the coast for NYE with friends and then overseas for 3 weeks. so looking forward to it :D dont want to say where exactly, as Im trying to be as anon as possible :detective:

re: coming off the pill - Im not at that stage yet, Im terrified of getting pg before I'm ready. I've had a few scares in the past, and it wasnt fun. Although DH and I weren't married yet at the time. I've also never had a problem coming off the pill. I dont remember headaches or anything but maybe I just never attributed any symptoms I was having to coming off it. I've never been on the pill for long periods of time (maybe 12-18 months at a time, max), and everything pretty much goes back to normal. Hate the longer duration of AF, harsher cramps, and worse PMS i get off the pill, but gotta love that jump in libido :D :valentine:

I went out last night with a large group of friends that DH and I hadnt seen for the last few months, such an awesome group of mates (they're the ones we're going north with for new years for a week).. was so much fun to catch up. We're the first in the group to get married, and will most likely be the first to have a bubs.. i was chatting to the girls about our baby plans and they were so excited about it. hehehe one of the girls is a doctor and she told me she was at a wedding a few weeks ago and saw a friend of hers who is a large girl, but when she saw her, she was absolutely sure that this woman was pregnant, so she asked her when she was due, and the woman told her she isnt pregnant. My friend was shocked, but she was adamant that the woman was pregnant, she said, "are you suuure you're not pregnant?" she felt really stupid asking, but the woman got checked out the next day and she was 6 MONTHS PREGNANT.

wouldnt you know???? sheesh. crazy how some woman have no idea what is happening to their bodies.

Sorry I haven't been posting much lately. I had a bad day with DD yesterday, she was tired but didn't want to sleep, thankfully she slept all night to make up for it. Oh well, today should be better. DH is going to start taking menevit this week and I'm going to continue with my multi vitamins too. Can't wait for February to finally arrive!

Re coming of the pill... I'm on CD 17 and whilst the headaches have definitely slowed down a bit they haven't gone away completely. But wow so true about increased labido!!

Well I have no idea if i have ovulated yet... so don't know if i'm becoming regular or not. The maybe baby thing says i'm not fertile, so i'm hoping that i already ovulated and that i'm on track to get AF in a week or two.

OMG witherwings! How can someone not know they are 6 months pregnant!!! Poor girl only has 3 months to prepare!

OMG:geek: :geek: :geek:
i just lost the biggest post EVER

ok here goes again!

Im so glad this thread has taken off with so many wonderfull ladies, its great to share out journeys and decifer all that info that gets thrown our way!

Elleandmum: thank god your lil one gave you a full nights sleep after a shocker day! does she normally sleep right through?

Witherwings: we went out to dinner the other night and Kochie from the morning show was sitting next to us, and i was pretty much the only one who cared

Witherwings: we are also going up the coast for a week over new years with a great (massive) group of people, we have two massive houses, we go every year for new years and its always great! we are also the first to tie the note and because of this i got so spoiled by my girlfriends (its fun being first :yelclap:)

Narribri: my toes and fingers are crossed for you, it would be lovely for it to happen without trying!

Teiko: there is a herb called Vitex which is amazing for regulating cycles, was talking to my friend who is studying chinese medicine about it the other day, there are a few threads on here about it too! good luck on the moving house

Hales and Ziara: i have a fur baby too he is in my profile pic and he is spoilt rotten but he is my baby for now! he turns ONE next week and we are having a BBQ for him this weekend (sort of just having a get together but saying its for his birthday haha)> he also does the crazy running thing! we call it the Zoomies!

Welcome to Ash

AFM: Dh blabbed to a few our friends that we are going to be starting TTC in june! :hair: i had a go at him and he said its cos he is so excited that he couldnt keep it secret and i couldnt be angry with that! but from one friend in particular who thinks she knows everything (and is childless mind you) im getting hammered with questions..... are you going to do this or that when why how, are you going to do it propery and not drink.... its not cool that she thinks she knows better than i do and she is driving me up the wall, im thinking of lying and saying we are postponing it so she gets of my back!!!

hope every one is well

10-12-2009, 13:24
Mrs Happy, how rude and annoying of your friend. Perhaps you could just disengage from the conversation when she starts and she'll eventually get the idea that you don't want to talk about it!?

Hehe, my two fur babies do the exact same thing! My little one (bichon frise) loves carpet and every time after a shower she goes absolutely nuts running around in circles on the carpet. I think it slows down, cause my big one (blue heeler) has just turned 2 and doesn't do it as much anymore.

Mrs Happy I'm not sure if my cycles are regular or not yet, but I like the idea of vitex if they aren't... do you know where i might be able to buy this?

MrsHappy
10-12-2009, 13:53
No idea squishywishy, maybe a health food shop or you may have to get it from a herbalist. ... start a thread on it here I'm sure someone will know and I would be interested in finding out when you do..

SquishyWishy - I agree with MrsHappy, try putting up a thread, someone on here is bound to know ;)

MrsHappy - she usually sleeps through until at least 4am from 7.30pm, so I can't really complain. I woke up before she did this morning  it was nice to wake up because I was no longer tired rather than waking up to DH's alarm clock or DD crying.

AFU - we did Santa photos today, and she was thrilled to bits with him, she kept smiling at him and giggling, oh she's so cute. But hasn't this year gone WAY too fast. I can't believe my little girl is almost 5 months old!

I guess February is just around the corner and it won't be long before we're trying again! Yay!

SquishyWishy
10-12-2009, 16:11
Thanks girls. I might just wait and see how this first cycle goes. I did a google search on Vitex and it seems as though it's good for regulating cycles but shouldn't be taken if pregnant. So I'll keep the idea as a back up plan for now.

Elleandmum, that is so cute! So many small children seem to scream when they see Santa. But you're right February is SO close... i can't wait either!

SquishyWishy> I know, its crazy! my friend asked her, "didnt you feel something kicking you inside?" and she said that she thought she was just having stomach cramps. poor thing though. wow.

MrsHappy> how annoying about that know-it-all friend. I try to be as non-opinionated about things as possible when people tell me about their plans. My friend is getting married next year and as much as I love talking about weddings (having recently gotten married myself), I prefer to let them talk and just listen and answer questions if asked :)

the friend that I mentioned before who is a doctor is so much fun to talk to about babies. we caught up again last night for drinks for a friend's bday and she was telling me about her experiences working at RPA in sydney. She's delivered babies heaps of times and even done CS, it felt good to get her opinion about things like epidurals and stuff, without worrying about people's biases. Like when i read about the "cascade of intervention". while i appreciate it happens, I dont like how all these people with their opinions try to scare you into going with whatever they think is right.

She also gave me a nice little insight into the pros and cons of giving birth in public hospitals. :)

and OMG Kochie!!@ I love him!!! I think if it was Kochie sitting across from us in the restaurant, my DH would have gotten pretty excited about it. hehehe he's a big fan of Kochie's business advice weekend program. No idea what its called, but DH records all the shows lol

So let me introduce myself I am a mum to 2 beautiful children I have a girl 3 and a boy1 and my dh and I would like at least 1 more if not 2. We are currently going to ttc in April 2011 (this date keeps changing to closer and further depending on DH's whims).

I am super clucky and can't wait to start in the mean time I am trying to learn all the ttc lingo. We would really love to have another girl next but have decided that when we do become pg we will not find out the sex of the next bubs.

I always manage to go past the baby section in kmart and Target (accidently on purpose hehe) everything is so small and cute. Hurry up April, I can't wait any longer!!!!!!

I have DH's work Xmas party tomorrow so i think I'll have a few drinks, ok maybe lots! I won't be able to soon, I'm going to stay clear off alcohol from Jan!!!
I got a spray tan tonight and the girl doing it thought I was 22. The hairdresser last night thought I was 19!! Grrrrr I'm 27!!!!!! It's so annoying!!!!!!

I Have this all figured out...:D

Take your own drink, i.e. in a water bottle (like you mixed it yourself;))

And just put whateeeeeeeevvveeeeer you like in it! then just say it has vodka!

And if anyone asks if they can sip it, say 'No, i don't have much to last me the night'

If your going out out, get the drinks yourself, or get Dp to get the drinks... but if anyone has to, get a lemon lime & bitters, i spose, they are really low alcohol. If you don't trust it, just say 'it tastes gross, im going to get my own'

Then go to the bar & get whatever & pretend it has vodka in it again...

They'll be none the wiser till you choose to tell them :yelclap:

13-12-2009, 17:15
Hehe that's a great idea crazy cakes!! When out I usually have a vodka lemon and lime so it just looks like lemonade!! Looks like that's what I'll be drinking!
At people's houses that's another story, I might just have to be designated driver.
Something that really annoys me is cigarette smoke. I just can't get away from it, it makes me feel so sick. I hate how people just decide to light one up at the table when you're sitting with a group of people!!!

I did most of my Xmas shopping today, yay!!!

Well, I havent been on all weekend, I've had a great weekend though. I didn't spend much time with DH, he had to go to Uni *summer school* so I hung out with my sister all weekend. We saw a movie on saturday and one on sunday. went shopping, talked about babies, rock climbing, bowling. good times. Great weekend. :)

so.. catching up now on the "stalking" thread.. (though i'd prefer to think of it as the "waiting" thread)....

welcome leajones and mrse

hales, you should be flattered that they think you're 22 and 19 - most people think im older than I am  I totally get the whole "baby section" bit. and Ive been noticing a lot of baby related things lately (more so than usual) and I swear more people are having babies now. It makes it so hard not to obsess.. hehe. DH said to me the other day, "oh noooo... im going to have to put up with 6 months of baby talk while you're not even pregnant!" heheheh. :devil6:

MrsHappy - how come you have to move so soon?? thats only a month notice. I'm pretty sure you need to give more notice than that. That suuuucks, right after xmas too. sorry hon. :hugs:

Rolzbubz, I'm turning 28 in May as well!! Unfortunately I look younger too... I chopped all my hair off a couple of weeks ago though, so it has helped a bit. It's not so bad in a social setting, but I hate it that people through work think I'm a student rather than having 6 yrs experience.

Mrs Happy when i was renting, we always moved around Christmas... it really sucked, but there was always places we found, mainly because no one else wants to move at this time. :fingerscrossed:

Well I was at my friends new place on the weekend and she was showing us her new pram and the little modern cloth nappies she'd bought... so cute!!!!

As for the alcohol thing... I drink wine! And i generally share bottles with friends.... how I'm going to fudge that I have no idea! Hopefully I get preggars straight away when I'm overseas and then when I get back I can say I drank wayyyy too much and feel very unhealthy, so I'm detoxing for a month or two. At least that will give me a head start.

My friend has just had her hair straightened at the hairdresser.. They put something on your hair that stays on for a while and then straighten your hair with it on (i think) she has been loving it! Instead of having to wash, blowdry and then straighten her hair she just has to blow dry it or let it dry naturally! I would love that! It cost a lot though!q

yeah ive looked into that and it does cost alot..but i would really love to have a shower and be able to head out the door without having to fuss over my hair....plus i think the partner would like it too as it would take me less time to get ready..lol.
Anyone know of a good place to get this done in sydney/west that have a good track record.

Wow girls, you've been busy today!!
Yes in a way I am flattered that people think I'm younger, but it's a tad embarrassing when I'm out with girls younger than me and I'm the one getting asked for I.D. I guess i just look youthful - No wrinkles... yet!
I love my short hair!! It looked so dull and boring long. Short hair saves so much time in the morning!!
I gave blood tonight, so next time I'm due is early march. Not sure if I should donate then coz we'll be TTC a few weeks after that.
Come on 2010, hurry up!!!!

Ive had this procedure done to my hair, and I wouldnt recommend it girls.. it isnt as glamorous as it sounds. For the first few weeks, the hair is great but then is just gets really frizzy and damaged-looking. You cant really just let it dry naturally, you need to at least blow-dry while brushing it straight. After I had it done, within a month I was missing my wavey curley hair so much, and it took about a year for the treatment to grow out of my hair so that my hair looked healthy again.

Sorry to burst your bubbles :( maybe it was just my bad experience.. it also cost a fortune at the time (this was about 7 years ago though - maybe the technology is more advanced now?)..

I have longish sort of hair, and I do feel that its a bit dull, but DH doesnt want me to have short hair. He specifically told me he doesnt like it. laaame. id love to have a change though. I've never even dyed my hair, but getting some silver hairs (WTF, IM ONLY 26!), so maybe its time to start colouring :P

On another note.... I saw a dietician yesterday (Ive been unsuccessfully trying to lose weight for years and exercise all the time, so I thought it was time to seek advice about my diet)... it was so good to have someone tell me exactly what was good for me and what isnt, and point out my bad habits etc. I need to get some blood tests done though, but otherwise, some handy tips she gave me which i thought I might pass on --

Sunlight = vitamin D = speeds up motabolism. Vitamin D deficiency can affect the brain function of your baby if you're pregnant, so the dietician said I need to get tested for this 6 months before I get Pg, because it takes about that long to get your vitamins sorted.. eeek! that means i need to get tests done asap. Im pretty sure i dont have enough vitamin D because I hardly ever go in the sun. I'm pale, work in an office, drive a car, and exercise mostly in the gym.

If you're trying to lose weight, you should eat foods that have a GI of less than 55, but that are low in fat (< 10g for cereal, <2g for dairy and 2-3g per muesli bar) *a lot of "low GI foods are high in fat, so you need to check the nutritional content*

If you're going to drink wine, dont eat fatty foods with it such as cheese. Apparently it makes the negative effect of the food twice as bad, e.g. if the cheese is 30% fat and you eat it with wine, then the effect it has on your body is as though the cheese is 60% fat. This is a big disappointment for me because i LOOOOVE eating cheese, olives and crackers with my wine. Now I have to either eat nothing.. or just drink wine with dinner like meat, fish and salad. WAAH.

Ooh yes witherwings, start colouring... lots of fun! I always colour my hair just a couple of shades darker to make it look more vibrant and shiny... works wonders!

Good to hear that you started seeing a dietitian, as they will be able to tailor a diet specifically to your needs.

If anyone wants to lose weight and not spend so much though, I highly recommend weight watchers. Because it's not really a 'diet' per se, it's more of way of changing what you eat and how you think about food. I lost 15kg the first time I did it, but i still ate chocolate often! At the moment I could lose weight, I'm at the very top end of the healthy weight range... but meh, i'm happy enough to let it be for now. My next goal is to start exercising more though!
