Help: Sperm Test Results

Hi,

We are in a very unusual situation so check out my blog if you want to see it in more detail. In short we are a lesbian couple using donor sperm, as he had children already we didn't get a sperm analysis done as we assumed it was all ok....

13 cycles later no pregnancy

I have had all the basic work including HSG and i've come back all normal.

He got checked and has 5% normal morphology but all else is ok.

We have the FS appointment on Monday but i want to have an idea of what this means now!!

So, question to anyone out there... how much affect does this have on conception???

Hi there, my dh's sperm test showed a similar issue - 7% normal morph but good count/motility. The lab reported it as normal but I was a bit concerned when I looked at the lab report in detail. My FS explained that they use v strict assessment of sperm shape these days (esp at my clinic) and anything above 4% was considered OK. Also apparently the shape of the sperm doesnt necessarily correlate to abnormalities in the DNA.

Ive read this in other places too. I wouldnt get too into googling as there are different scales used (one says more than 20% normal morph is acceptable, but that is a different scale and "scores" sperm differnently).

That said, if your donor is a known donor, perhaps a vitamin combo like menevit might help. I can understand how frustrating it must be after 13 months. :(
