Is anyone using distance study for a certificate or small short course, or even diploma who they can recommend to be efficient and worthwhile, fairly low cost and recognised?? :ecomcity: only a few criteria to meet ;)

some tafes offer courses off campus. open uni australia do uni courses off campus and you dont have to pay upfrount they offer a thing like HECS but its called Fee-help.
check out the seek.com.au site the trainign part for tafe courses off campus :)

Charles Sturt University also does a lot of distance courses - I am thinking of doing a DipEd with them part-time over the next two years.

It is possible to study through TAFE externally as well.

It is a bit cheaper than uni.

I think it all depends what you interests are.

Hi

I started a long distance course last year with http://www.thomsoneducationdirect.com.au/ who are a reputable and long standing company. However, it's slid this year as I had horrible morning sickness, then my sister came over for 3 weeks, then .... and here I am 3 weeks from having bubba #2 so the slide will continue for a little while. Anyway, they are good, have a great range of courses and you can pay in monthly instalments.

before enrolling in a thomson education course make sure its actually a nationally reconginsed one and not a statment of attainment or just a piece of paper saying you did the course.they dont actually have many nationally recognised courses but alot of statment of attainments i found out the hard way :(

I am about to start doing my accounting degree and I am doing it by correspondence and it is with open education where u can study at uni and pay for when you get a job.

depending on what you are studying i know that the police courses for goulbourn police academy are quite cheap. and they do it distance education.
