For those who had bubs born when it was really hot what did you use to wrap bub in?

Can't beat the good old muslin wrap. Can get em at Woolies/Safeway, for $10 for 3. Very very lightweight, no added heat AT ALL, and they kinda stretch a bit, so they were ideal.

You can also get em at Spotlight, and I recently saw and ALDI catalogue that had them.

Thanks for that. Cause Ozzy was born in February and looking at all the wraps we had for him they look like they would cause bub to overheat if used in December.;)

if bub is quite big, then you can't beat the duck home wraps from babies galore. they are huge and really light weight muslin. brightly coloured unisex (red, blue, green, yellow) too and only 25 dollars for a pack of four. i still have mine and use them for light weight covers when it's hot, change table covers and floor covers during mealtimes (one for each different thing)

Like the other girls have said, a great big muslin wrap is the way to go  On really hot nights I just used to put Tilly in her nappy and singlet, and maybe some little shorts and then just wrap her up :)

Ella was a december bub. I wrapped her in just a cotton cot sheet. I still wrap her in that as it is actually big enough for her. I found she wiggled out of the muslin ones too easily.

On the really hot days I would just dress her in a nappy. And had a fan blowing on her. No dramas.

DD was born in November. I got some muslin wraps from Big W, they are a bit bigger than the Woolies ones. I think it was about $12 for 3 wraps.

DD decided after about 2 weeks that she didn't need to be wrapped so I just used them as sheets over her at night, thru the day whe slept uncovered in the bassinet, I did have a mozzie net over it which kinda kept a little of the heat in...not that you needed to keep warm last nov

I got a pack of three from target really cheaply and they're huge! I use them over the pram to protect from sun also but lets air in too.
Perfect.

I second the muslin wraps. Go for anything 100% cotton only. Love the duck wraps it's all i have ever used. I'd have about 20 of them now!!!!! Their so big and dont stretch when wrapping bubs which is essential. I still use them to wrap Oli and he is 6mths old. Just fold down one corner.

Oliver was born on 16th Jan and i would just pop him in a singlet and nappy for bed and wrap him up.

This week is the first time Oli has gotten out of these wraps:thumbsdown: My wrapping technique must be swindling becasue he is waking twice a night to be re wrapped.

Also the duck wraps are great because i use them as a shade cloth on the pram and in the car, as a change maat if im out and about, as a porta cot sheet- obviously thats why i have so many:rolleyes:

Here's an idea...when my nephew (now 15, mind you) was born, my mum made half a dozen wraps, just by hemming some lightweight cotton sheeting...got it from spotlight or the like, all sorts of patterns and made a couple quite large, so much so that once when I was out with my sister when he was about 18 months, we managed to wrap him when he was upset and he went to sleep in my arms!! When my neice was born, 2 years later, mum added a few pink ones to the collection, and I have just passed them on to a girl friend due soon, after using them on all five of my kids, 3 of whom were middle of summer babies, and loaning them to a few people along the way. Cost bugger all to make and a few mins to zip up on a sewing machine, and if you don't sew, maybe mum or mil might do it for you?
Nothing wrong with muslin either, just find the store bought rugs seem to get smaller and smaller....
Enjoy your summer bubs.

I cut a single sheet in half and used that, but I only dressed the kids in a singlet and nappy.

This is for a 1yr old BTW, lol. For a small baby, I used anything a muslin wrap thing too.

Muslin wraps here too - November baby in Brisbane...she didn't actually need wrapping much but they were good to cover her in the early morning when it was cool.
Cept now I have to buy all new ones for this summer bub because hers are all PINK! :banghead: doh.
