Hello lovely people,
We are moving and will need to buy a few of those baby gates to stop the dude from taking his explorations to the moon. Can anyone give me an idea of what to look for in a gate?
Thanks...
We bought a couple of gates for our place when Liv started exploring & found the best of the lot to be the Safety First gate which can be pressure mounted or fixed to the wall with the accompanying hardware. Its really easy to use & was reasonably priced @ $90.00.
Good luck
Ciao.

Definately a swinging door gate. Not just a fence type safety gate. You want to be able to walk through the gate and undo it with ease, or at least when holding bub!;)
we have all ways used the wooden ones they start from $20 and fit any door as long as u dont mind lifting a leg over them and unlike the other ones u can buy extentions for them if youve got a big area to cover
Definitely get ones that fix to the wall!! We started off with a pressure mounted one and Andrew just stood at the gate and pulled on it back and forth and it does eventually come loose - not good! The ones that affix to the wall are FABULOUS, especially if you have stairs, for that added peace of mind. They are also clear perspexy type stuff, and Andrew loves being able to peer through and see whats going on over the other side.
Our are 'the first years' brand, about $90ish at Target, but often on special. :)

Hey there,
We've bought two recently - we have a wood fire in a corner of a room, so sectioned of the whole corner with this (http://www.babybunting.com.au/product_info.php?product_id=b2eb7349035754953b57a3 2e2841bda5) type of dealy, and have one across our open-plan living kitchen entry way that's kinda like this (http://www.babybunting.com.au/product_info.php?product_id=22fb0cee7e1f3bde58293d e743871417)
The top one is fantastic because when we move house in a couple of weeks, it can be used as a play pen. There are 6 sections, and any one of them can be removed to make the gate, if used that way, shorter or longer. And it looks pretty snazzy too!
