With winter deffinatly apon us.. the question arises :gloomy:

How much do you rug up bub at night ??

With Dakota i put a singlet on and a grow suit with pull-over mitten thingy's. Then i wrap her up in a thin wrap and double up a thick baby blanket put it over her and tuck it in tightly...

Is this too much or too little ?!?! What do you do ?

i don't think its too much
that sounds pretty similar to what DD has at night.

During the day she is in a allinone with short sleeves and no legs, with a two piece outfit and socks

Thats what I do too... Don't the "EXPERTS" say to put them in one extra layer than what we would have?

Lauren - not sure if I've complimented you before but your kids have lovely names

Last night Kade went to bed in his singlet, wondersuit, singlet-style sleeping bag, sheet and blanket. I am trying not to wrap him anymore but he woke up soooo many times last night! I think he may be teething though.

I live out near Mt Dandenong though so it is FREEZING here!!

Mitchells Mummy - I am planning a walk for sure! It's soooo nice today. I am trying to stop wrapping Kade now (5 months) but so far it is a disaster! With his hands out he pulls out his dummy but then can't put it back in so cries for me to come and do it!

I thought u had to try and stop swaddling once they could roll cause if they do that swaddled they can suffocate cause their arms aren't free to push them up/back. But I don't know where I got this from!!

Thank-you.. i like them to :D

We're in Bayswater, so almost near the foot of Dandenong hills.. You could seriously go ice skating in my backyard of the morning that's how cold it is.

Mitchellsmummy - Thank-you also hon ;) Dakota is 9 weeks now and i still wrap her at night she's most settled like that and will sleep through the whole night. I did however make a huge mistake when Calista was a bubby. I wasn't going to stop wrapping her until she thought it was time to. She was extremely small and still is. Her first birthday was arising and she was still being wrapped so i had to break her out of it which was extremely hard :o Never will i make that mistake again.. so i will stop wrapping Dakota when she's about 4-5 months and if not sooner.

Lauren - based on your experience with Calista then should I keep trying to stop wrapping him? It's so hard!! He is waking all the time.

I am in Montrose and my grass was white this morning - frozen I think!

Does he move his arms and legs around alot when he's wrapped ?

Yeah, heaps which is why I thought it was time to stop wrapping him. I'm not sure if the timing is just bad cause he seems to be teething. Should I wait a week or so and try again or just persist? Do you remember how long it took Calista to get used to it?

It took calista a fair while because she was much older then your bubba. By memory a good 3 weeks. Have you tried tucking him in tight with just a blanket ?

OMG - 3 weeks! I must have got up 20 times last night and I'm exhausted!! He is tucked in sooo tight, but he is so strong and the arms always come up and out and that's when the dummy gets knocked and it's all over! Maybe if I wait another month or so he'll be able to pop the dummy back in himself.

DH has broken his leg so he can't help me at all at the moment so I am feeling it! 3 weeks seems completely not do-able!!

awww hon.. sorry to hear about your DH :hugs: I do not what you mean though because my DH had a pilonidal sinus and couldn't walk for a week and a half  and doing everything for him was tiring. Thank god he's better and back at work now

I would say hold off a little longer unless you're willing to try CC. Yes i know ppl are against it but IMO it doesn't do any harm.

We have singlet, growsuit, swaddled in a thin blanket and then she has 2 big blankets folded a few times on top of her... she likes lots of warmth and I think the snuggness of having so many layers or she wont sleep!

Yeah I took my girl to school and was amazed by the icy grass. You could skate on it. But I like having the sun out - at the very least I can get some washing dry!:smiliedance:

at the hospital (and consequently last night) we have Cobey in a singlet, wondersuit, hands covered, then double swaddle wrap him. Our room is heated so it's a nice temperature in there. :)
