HI
I was just wanting to ask of the experiences any one has had at John Flynn. I was thinking about going there with my next baby.
Any stories or info would be great.

Thanks

Hey Kristy,

I went and had a look at the birthing ward and everything today, the lady was really helful on the desk gave my hb and i a guided tour of the birthing suites which are reasonably big although i have nothing to compare to went out of her way to show us rooms everything, suggested ob also some points all birthing suites have spa s in them, and rooms have the option of a double bed, two singles whatever is comfy so patner can stay as well, they have guided tour every sat, thought it might help.

Hi Kristy,

I had my bub at JF last December. I can't recommed the hospital, the doc's, and the midwives highly enough! See here for another thread talking about time after bub was born: http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=30087&page=2

I attended the antenatal classes there as well and found them to be interesting, relevant and just the right length. We still keep in touch with the people from our class, and the midwives who ran it.

The midwives were fantastic, helpful, yet VERY unobtrusive. I had Motzart playing on a CD player and just the soft light of a touch lamp in the bathroom with me when I had Blair and the midwives helped make it a warm, friendly environment for bub to be born into. It was nearly a romantic experience (strange, I know. but that is the best way I can describe it!)

The thing that I liked best was that hubby could stay with me for the 5 day stay, and nothing was too hard or too much of a strange request for the midwives.

The baby blues hit me the day after I went home and poor DH had me in one room crying and Blair in another room crying. We rang the ward and they told us to come straight back and they would help. They helped me fed him when I got there and then booked him back into the nursery for the night so I could get some much needed rest. They were willing to come and sit and chat with me as I blubbered through what must have made little sense. Aren't hormones wonderful things???!?! After what we call our 'false start' :o , we returned home and have been fine since. The midwives have an emergency 24 hour number that they encourage you to use as well. Brilliant!

Hope this helps in making your decision. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Good luck on the birth of your bub.

I cant give you personal experience but I can tell you that its fantastic! My DH cousin had her bub there in March this year and said it was a fantastic experience. She saw an obb called Dr Dutt and highly recommended him. He room was like a hotel room and the staff were lovely!

Good luck! I would go there if I could afford it, think it cost them around $5000:eek:

Hi Kristy1979

Just wondering how you have gone at John Flynn? Are you still going to have your bub there. What doctor are you using?

Good luck with it all
