Whats your Gender old wives tales people have told you...and were any of them true to what you had?

My Baby's gender is unknown

1. I have heard that if your low its a boy and if your high (just under boobs) than its a girl
> I am currently low (boy)

2. I have heard that if your carrying out in front its a girl and if your belly spreads around to your sides its a boy
> I am carrying a basket ball -so out in front (girl)

3. Then theres the ones about craving certain types of food; sweet or sour.
> Now I can't remember which is which. but for me I have craved oranges and salty things like chips, popcorn and crisps, and sweet things as well (both)

4. Than there is the theory of heartbeat. I think the higher it is its a girl and slower its a boy?
> For me it was 158bpm (girl)

So it looks like if these hypothesis are right than I am probably having a girl...I will know In about 8wks.

So what are some old wives tales your have heard? What do you think your having. Do you have a 'feeling' because I can't feel if its a boy or girl???

mmm, i also did the chinese calander thing which i thought was going to be a boy but because i am after the chinese new year i needed to add a year.. so it was girl.

craved sour at the start and sweet at the end....

i carried ou the front and ended up losing weight everywhere else.

fyi - i thought i was having a boy -wasnt til i was on the way to the hospy i said "its a girl" and it was!!!!

ALSO the best old wives tale i was told was heartburn=hair.... i had preventative zantac and still heartburn and dd had a full head of hair!!!

Its the other way around, the basketball is a boy and the spread weight is a girl ;)

I have heard it you put a fork under one cusion on the lounge and a spoon under the other and invite the pregnant lady to sit, if she sits on the fork its a boy and the spoon is a girl

And also one that i wouldnt recommend, if you tip some draino in the toilet and pee without flushing the draino will turn blue for a boy and clear for a girl, no doubt nothing will happen and it will stay clear pointing to a gilr every time :laughing:

I have a 2 year old DS and everything with him pointed to him being a girl :yes:

I am pregnant with another boy and my pregnancy has been 100% opposite to that of DS's pregnancy.

i think thats a definate GIRL by most accounts - however i swore black and blue last time i was having a girl but at 20wk scan we found out it was a boy so who know - but looking back on some of these questions i would have gotten a boy result LOL - 5wks and we'll know i guess

I found out tomorrow :)
So far all tests point to Girl, 80% of people think its a girl. I feel that its a girl (but maybe coz I really want a girl).
Either way, Ill know tomorrow (or at least get a better percentage).

My first was correct in all the things for a girl, my second following all the old wives tales should have been a boy as everything was completely opposite but Nope I have both girls. This one is different again a bit of a mix of both so in a month we will see what it is, I'm secretly hoping for a boy

I got told if you carry all round and looks like a watermelon then it is a girl..
Turns out i was like that with dd and shes a girl.

Also for a boy i got told your belly is up high and carry like a basketball.
Im currently carrying a boy and thats how i am this pregnancy..

I know its a boy as got the ultrasound to comfirm it lol

Soooooo everything pointing to a girl for me. But I have had 2 u/s and a 4D scan showing Im definitely having a boy.

Therefor all those tales have been busted on my side :D

My bub is most definitly a boy..

I was carrying high, before bub dropped (really really low now) so that one is false for me

2. I have heard that if your carrying out in front its a girl and if your belly spreads around to your sides its a boy
I am so much out the front that I feel I may burst any second :laughing: so false for me

I have craved mostly sweet things

Hi everyone,

Has anyone done the needle and thread or ring and thread test? I did last night and then again this morning and it was the same both times! :)
You hold the needle and thread over your palm or over your belly...but make sure your palm is facing up...look on this great website mommakath.com? I think thats it...and she tells you exactly how to do it.
For me...the needle and thread started swinging in circles...indicating a girl first, which is correct as my firstborn was a girl, Jessica, born 18.7.03, then it stopped. (moving onto next pregnancy)...then it started swinging back and forth in lines, indicating a boy for my second child, which is right too! I had a boy, 28.9.05.
I am not preggy with my third child...and it indicated I am having a girl as the needle went in circles! I trust it so much I am going to buy pink! Then the needle stopped and started swinging back and forth again indicating a boy for our fourth child! then it stopped moving after the fourth time.
4 is enough for me anyway!
Do I believe it? YES! It has been right the first 2 times...and I will let you know if it is right the third time (and fourth!)....very exciting! We have a girl and boys name picked out already so its all good!
Let me know your stories out there about this and we will see how accurate it is!

I have done the ring test, and mine said Boy! :thumbsup: My girlfriend who has had eight kids now pregnant with her 9th lil bubba, has done it for every one of her babies and has never been wrong :wizard: Weird hey. Ive done it over and over to double check and it keeps swinging back and forth. I have a feeling it will be a boy !! We would like a boy first so that as the oldest he can look after his younger siblings - however we are hoping for a girl next ;)

Most of the old wives tales I had with my daughter Pia were right!

The Chinese gender chart was correct!

I was carrying her high and with the 'watermelon' shaped tummy lol

I had real bad morning sickness for 18 weeks, and at times kept re-occuring.

Her heartbeat was always over 140+

Those are just some. :)
