Hi Shelley,

I am in exactly the same position as you! Actually I have my IVF interview with the nurse on 8 Aug so I don't even know when I am going to start so I am probably more clueless.

But you are right - you are not alone and you can join the thread

" First IVF Cycle in a Few Days Part 2 " where there are so many wonderful, helpful ladies who have been and are going through the same thing. I have already learnt so much and gained so much strength from all the posts and support.

I look forward to hearing from you on that thread as we go thru our journey together.

Hi my name is Jodie & I am new to this site. I have just completed first round of IVF & got back negative result this morning. I was under a false sense of security - my husband has had a vasectomy (previous marriage) & all went pretty smoothly. Deep down I knew that I wasn't but I was praying that I was wrong. I know it is first go, but how do you move on, any advice?

Jodie

Hi Jodie,

Firstly welcome to the site .So sorry about your negative result this morning . As you said even though you had a sense that it didn’t work it is still so shattering when your worst fears are confirmed.
Hun, you are right, I think we all put so much hope in IVF that when we get negative results we get so disillusioned.
How do you move on? The only advice I can give you is what I have told myself from my own personal experiences ( 2 failed IVF attempts ). Firstly, try and remember that in a “normal” situation of a young, healthy couple trying to conceive the chances every month of being successful is only 20% .Usually, the 1st IVF cycle is something of a learning experience for the couple and their doctor and that for most couples it wont work on the 1st cycle - so you are not alone there.

Hun, as long as you can do it financially and emotionally, you have to look forward to trying again. The pain of the negative result is still fresh so don’t expect to make any decisions just yet on what to do next. Take care of yourself and when you are ready make your next move. Read through the threads here and you will find many success stories to give you hope.

Take Care
Donna

Hi Jodie,
I know it is really heartbreaking - as you'll come to see, so many of us have been through what you are feeling right now. Advice? Take some time to be angry, upset & sad and then try to look at the big picture.....the chance to have a beautiful baby. I know it may seem a dream but it DOES happen. As Tonysgirl mentioned, it is a learning experience between yourselves and the doctor...try not to give up hope.
