Hi Vicki, Cat, Tania and Tracey!
Greetings once more from this part of the world, where things just seem to get busier and busier! It seems that Miss G might be building up to a fully fledged asthma attack this evening, she was wheezing (sp?) at 1pm so she had some ventalin then, then nothing more til 6.30 when the wheezing started up again, she's also had a dose of the steroid now so fingers crossed it starts to work and she starts to calm down, she is quite wound up right now. We had a big day - playgroup this morning then our neighbour niece had her birthday today so there was a party at their place this afternoon. Both the kids had a grand old time and are thoroughly exhausted. I just hope poor old G does just relax, she is in her room leading her daddy a merry dance from what I can work out.
Apart from that Master T has also been a bit off - just not 100%, a bit of a tummy thing. Though you really wouldn't be able to tell, he's still his happy little self.
Thats about us in a nutshell, except that Dh has been far too busy with work, they've just launched the Archibald Prize website so there was a lot of last minute jitters with that. Though I think it is going well live, dh keeps telling me how many people are visiting the site at any given time!
I think I may have to relieve dh from his parently duties with G as it seems she won't stop talking in there.
Hope you are all well!
lol mary isnt this age just adorable non stop chatter and all!
Hope shes not headed for another attack and the steroids etc have done their job
Just popped on to say am having a short net/computer break
Ive my life to sort out and the day care so busy anyhow
Ill pop on and read occasionally and keep a eye on you all though and then when things settled will be back as usual
xx

Hi Mary - is there preventative stuff you can do for asthma? My mother got it as an adult and has never had a shocking attack. I hope it went smoothly.
Hi Vicki - just a few days to go - how exciting! Have you got everything done?
:)
Yep its all good to go! and lucky too cos this separation just got nasty
car is in his dads and his name, his dad had to co sign. anyhow ex was fine with me keeping for 4 weeks till i got another car ( ds1's whos unroad worthy just yet) anyhow, daddy tinkles in the ear and I lose car, monday or tueday he says
HA! not happening, im not letting them take it yet. Leaving me and K car less? how cruel are they.
so i let loose, hes now gone to the flat, fully furnished already by mummy and daddy, this was the exchange for the car. ex gave him the car in return. it has 1 year left payments on it, value about 10k resale
I sent him off with tell your dad can get car on 4th april, no sooner, if he tries to come get it I will sue you for half come divorce settlement..he leaves it with me for 2 weeks, its all his/yours whatever. be interesting how this goes.
I dont think he can force it from me?..got to ring a lawyer monday
wow how evil are they? To leave us without transport, this where no ambo service, no walking distance shops..nothing. I feel sorry for K

Vicki - it all sounds pretty bl@@dy bl@@dy over your way these days. Your in-laws are the pits, its just a shame they can't see the woods for the trees, I always thought they had a soft spot for Katie but that doesn't seem to be the case. Can't believe that car cr@p, that your dh wouldn't leave it for you, full-stop. Its not as though he was going to volunteer to do your shopping, taxi you around etc.
Cat - things are ok with Genevieve, we are just sticking to treating the symptoms of her asthma for now. We shall see how things go in the next few months. We'll see the specialist again in May.
Well, so far this weekend yesterday we went to the beach, I went to a party plan thing for organic beauty products (and bought up big - its my bday next weekend so its a pres for me!!) then we all went over to a party in Balmain to celebrate our friends 10 years in Aus. This morning I went supermarket shopping then down to the preschool to set up for the Fun Day, back home to collect the family and head off to the Fun Day, now we've all had naps, and in about half an hour we are heading over to the neighbourhood sister's place for the family party for her two kids birthday - they are three years and 5 days apart in age, talk about planning huh?
So - all fun and games here, literally!

Vicki, Mary is right about the car. If he's p***ed off with you, that's one thing, but he's affecting his daughter. What is wrong with the man!
Hi Mary - glad to hear that G is better. How did the fun day go?
:)
just a quick one before heading bed
big day ahead
drop k mums then come home ready for licensing officer. FDC came today she says am perfect ready! All but for 3 papers which she didnt give me so email in the am, print and pop in front office on board and done! How easy is that hehe
Apprently though..the officers meet once a week to approve, meetings are tuesdays, too late tomorro so a week before the next meet ! argh. fdc sid to ask her call me asap and then I call fdc and we move swiftly as possible to start the interviews etc. so..3 weeks max, 2 weeks min. Going have head onto CL again just incase fall short rent time :(
cat: how was your weekend??
Mary: as always yours sounds fab! Do you ever sit still woman? lol
Hows Miss G now? Saw the pics fb. lovely!
I blame the ils, everything was fine till got in dhs ear and in the middle, knew it was coming lol
Cat, It just installs in me I did the right thing with everything he says and does now, hes pure venom ( under neath the bull **** disguises )like his parents it seems
Im feeling pretty good already, slept better than have in months last night and chatting to a "old friend" daily does wonders

Hi Vicki - I've been quiet here on day 10 of tonsillitis. Not recommended. Considering I'm rabidly antisocial, I've missed out on lunch at my cousin's new home, brunch with a girlfriend, a birthday party down the coast and had to seriously scale back Mum's birthday plans.
Fortunately, I'm taking them both out to lunch with friends on Sunday so I should be back to normal by then.
Fantastic news about your daycare. Not long to go at all. And for your husband, it seems the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree. It will be easier when he's gone stress wise.
:)
oh dear know that one to well Cat, was hospitalised the last time i had it @ 28 yrs of age..never got it again but do tend to have colds/flus hit my throat worse than others...
Glad your feeling better. was starting to worry so quiet!
The licensing visit went very well, only 2 minor things to adjust, fixed tomorrow AND my 2nd referee they didnt get his forms..im doubting he sent so have asked another to do instead. then i wait...could be 2-3 weeks though she said dependent on few things her end.
back to CL wednesday now hes gone to claim just in case.
Oh and the other man who i got referee , hes a mechanic, only a tad younger, maybe 5 yrs? anyhow always had a soft spot for him and we got on very well so jumped at the chance when asked me over there when the form comes he said " we must catch up and now your even closer to me" and hes now single too lol
hmmm think i might enjoy this single stuff, even if nothing came of it, nice to have some charming and considerate male company!
im knackered, been a long day
oh and 5 years today for J and I...was a hard day all rnd

Cripes, I was just miserable, nowhere near needing a hospital and the doctor said I was lucky because I didn't have a fever. I also had referred pain by way of a tooth ache and ear ache and I guarantee I haven't lost any weight although I ate almost nothing. Very annoying.
Anniversaries are always hard, but look at all the good things that are coming to you!
I like the sound of the mechanic. Pop him over here for the day - my car is due for a service :)

Hello!
Sorry about the lack of news from this end!
Cat sorry to hear you've been ill, and had to miss so many social events. I hate missing things, especially when its with adult friends.
Vicki oh ick to anniversaries, some of them aren't worth remembering. Glad to hear that the potential new fella sounds keen, and also that he is closer to you in age! Plus if he's a mechanic I am sure that could come in handy.
I hope everything comes completely together for your day care sooner rather than later. Best to get things sorted at CL if needed though. Your ex-h would be leaving you both high and dry I know. Enough on all that.
We had a fun day today. Took the kids and our houseguest (who has been calling himself my Manny) into the National Maritime Museum today for a Playgroups NSW event. It was fun, if a bit overwhelming for all of us to start with, esp G who burst into tears in the queue for facepainting - nothing a sandwich, sultanas and rice wheels couldn't fix though. T had a great old time in the toddler play area, fun to watch him having such fun!
Off to playgroup in one of our local(ish) parks tomorrow, G is looking forward to it! She knows exactly which park it is and is already decided that she will be having an icecream "from the cafe in the park" afterwards!
ah Cat ill get my "car" serviced first then send him your way lol
ah always the way , least some weight off after the suffering hey!
Mary, lol @ Manny hehe
The museum trip sounds great, after the starting tears tho, so emotional this age isnt it?

Ah yes, to the emotional landmines that are 3 year olds - G even says, sometimes, in the midst of it all "I just need to have a cry"!

I get " I JUST DONT CARE!" lol

27-03-2010, 11:45
Hi Mary - I love G's comment. I feel a bit that way too! What are your plans for tomorrow?
Hi Vicki, I really need the CAR serviced lol.
:)
lol Cat, sorry couldnt resist
hows your weekend?
This last week has been a very emotional one to say the least, I Sold my ring as I needed finances and it broke my heart at first and set me on a terrible few days
Yesterday I chatted most the day away msn to my male friend, hes very smart and with his advice and encouragement (and telling me I am indeed a wonderful and beautiful woman who ex dh didnt deserve etc) has led me to feeling much more positive and happier to go ahead and he also told me I needed to finalise things more rather than "hang on" to do so with less pain..
So I finally got ex to agree to take K for the day and plans in the making for every 2nd weekend soon as help him set things up over there and Here in house I just finished bedroom and ensuite and whole house of ALL his presence, boxed and ready to go with him and bedroom all girly again lol ( cept for dd's room where pics are of him and her)
Heres to new beginnings and my new happy life.:smiliedance:
off to dinner with ds1 later, indian in the city. K off to mums for few hours then tomorrow ex picks up k for the day..might sleep it away! lol
happy birthday Mary!!!
What was the plans for today? Do hope you have a awesome day lovehappybirthday

We have had a wonderful weekend! Had the family over for dinner tonight, and dh cooked up a storm - had chinese bbq skewers etc and a fabulous birthday cake all out in the garden. Full report tomorrow I promise!

Hello!
Well, we have a very whingey tired little boy tonight. Have just given him some brauers teething stuff so that might just knock him out. Fingers crossed!
Genevieve had her Open Class for ballet this afternoon, it was a hoot, she kept running up to dh and me and Toby and saying "Toby, this is such fun!" - yes, she was meant to be doing something else but it was hilarious! She is still the youngest in her class, though no longer the smallest.
The weekend was lovely. On Friday night, at Dh's suggestion, we went down to the pub in Coogee for dinner - the meals took a while but the kids both enjoyed themselves so at least it wasn't a painful wait. It was a beautiful evening.
On Saturday morning dh and G went and picked up the turf for the bit of garden that needed it, and we end up pulling up some more pavers up the back and planting the extra there. It is so so good to be reclaiming more of our garden.
Then after lunch we packed up the kids and caught the train into town for Baby Loves Disco at a club in Darlinghurst - if you look at my FB you can see the moves that G was pulling on the dancefloor - one word covers it - HILARIOUS!! We all had a ball, such a great thing to do for all of us. The people who run it hire a club for the afternoon, provide snacks etc for the kids, a cash bar for the parents, a great dancefloor and pretty good music, the place is over-run by toddlers and preschoolers and everyone has a ball!! Oh yes, there is also a kiddy chillout area with books and cushions, and a small bouncy castle - all bases are covered!
The kids were exhausted by the end of it and were both in bed before my parents arrived to babysit. Dh and i went back into the city on the train and had dinner at the summit, I love it up there looking out on the world. It was Earth Hour so we got to see the lights go out and come back on again. The meal was lovely! I feel spoilt that dh and I have actually got out by ourselves twice this month. My parents are such sweeties - Dad drives us to the station and picks us up when we come back. Makes us feel young again!!
On Sunday I was showered with beautiful gifts from my family, jewellery, cookbooks, art! Then dh cooked breakfast (which he always does on the weekends anyway!!) and we headed off to a local fair/festival thing to buy the kids some shoes. G went on her first carnival ride - the teacups (with me)!! On our way back we did the shopping for the party, and once we got the kids down for their afternoon nap it was action stations with the prep. Dh did lamb and chicken skewers with X'ian style seasons - which is what you find all over china in the summer time, so it takes me straight back there! He also did a cucumber salad, a green salad and rice of course. We sat out in the garden and enjoyed a late summer evening!
So - that, my dears, is the full report!!
Vicki - I am sad to hear that you had to sell your ring last week, though it was what you needed to do. So so hard. I am glad that K enjoyed the day with her Dad, and you are right to feel strange that it has come to this - all those months of him doing zip with her on the weekends and now he will be looking after her every second one. On the plus, at least you will get some time for yourself. I would imagine it will be much needed once the FDC is underway and you are over-run with kids!!
Cat - what else is news with you?
Other Mummies - what is happening with you too?? Would love to hear some more news of babies, pregnancies and all things mummy-esque, or whatever!!

Hi Ladies,
Mary - your weekend sounds fabulous, but I still don't know where you get the energy. I saw the video of G on FB and she was having a wonderful time. What a terrific idea to entertain children. Is it a regular thing? If so, I'll tell my girlfriends. Was that you laughing in the background?
Hi Vicki, it must be odd J taking Katie, but it's such a great thing for everyone. You have some time to yourself and Katie gets to see her father. You'll be used to it in no time.
I haven't been up to anything much. Mum and Dad's birthday lunch went well and we all had a lovely time, but wrangling 10 giggling oldies is like trying to lasso a cloud. Seriously, 5 year olds would be easier.
I'm supposed to be studying, but again I'm perfecting the art of procrastination. Some dvds have just arrived in the post so I think I'll delay a little longer... lol
:)
lol Cat, hope you enjoy the dvd's, what are they?
Mary: aww i so love reading your posts. Glad you had such a lovely time and yes the G dance is adorable!!! loved it.
fil taking car Sunday night, so am aimlessly running round trying to do what can in 3 days! Got to ring fdc later and hope can get me in for accounts this week while have transport or delayed for 2 weeks till ds's car all done :(
no amount of asking got me another week. even though he has 3 cars and a bike *sigh* really are horrid people and so glad to be out of it

Cat - sounds like you organised a good party for your parents! The Baby Loves Disco thing is run probably 4 times a year, google it, and of course there is a FB group!! Oh yeah, and that was me, laughing my head off in the background!
Vicki - errghh, I really can't believe your situation with the car. So pathetic. I am not going to say any more.
Went to the gym this morning for the first time in a fortnight. Am sick of being overweight so have decided to start the C25K program this week, which I suppose should mean today. I don't think I can take the kids out with me though (its a running program - Couch to 5km) so it will either have to be early in the morning or in the evenings when dh comes home. I think it will have to be mornings for safety. We have a few parks around and bike/walking tracks so it won't just be the footpaths.
Plus if we do have another bub I have to get my a into g and get on with losing weight, can't be putting off ttc for toooo long. But would much rather get down to where I was when T was conceived than where I am now. Ohh, too much to think about.
Suppose I should get on with a few things. This place is a complete shamoozle and both the kids are in bed - no time like the present eh?

Hi Ladies,
Mary you made me laugh with your planned exercise. I used to be incredibly fit and sporty when I was younger and I remember years ago when I was on holidays and had met some nice people, we would meet each afternoon around 3 for a coffee. There was always a battle about who would pay and one day it turned into a sprint to the bar between me and one of the guys (on sand) and I won by miles, but had pulled a muscle in my groin, another in my calf and sounded like an asthmatic train. Never been tempted since lol. Does it literally mean you have to start running immediately or do you start walking first? That would kill me.
Mum and I are starting not so much a diet, but trying to be conscious about what we are putting in our mouths. Today, we are very proud that we walked past the cafe after lunch and didn't dive in for cake. See how long that lasts.
Hi Vicki - I thought he would be more reasonable after Katie's visit about the car. How many can he drive at one time???
Is the accounts bit with the fdc showing you how to keep your accounts?
I'm backtracking on Lost. I was an ardent fan for the first few years and they they started mucking around with the time it aired so lost interest (pun intended). I've just finished season 4 and am starting on season 5. I've gone all supernatural of late, filling up on Dr Who and Torchwood as well. I should actually suspend my account when I have uni work then I wouldn't be a Last Minute Larry getting assignments done.
Ciao for now
Cat

Cat - I crack myself up too with the thought of the C25k program. You start by doing intervals, more walking than running I suppose, and its meant to be 20 minutes 3x a week. Rest assured I'm not starting today!
My parents came over this afternoon to drop off some more furniture from my Aunty's place. My Aunt and Uncle are moving into an apartment after being in the same house for about 30 years, so some serious ditching is going on. We have a new bookcase and small kitchen(esque) table, which won't be going in our kitchen as there is no room. So we were moving furniture this afternoon, clearing out one bookcase to move it and getting the new one into place too. Dh and I will be putting books on shelves tonight I feel! Exciting huh?
Oh yeah, Cat - good on you and your Mum walking past the cafe!! Your description of racing on sand makes me wonder whether I am doing the right thing! Though I am so sick of the extra weight so I know I am!
oh i did same with lost..lost interest somewhere along the line, lol never did get back to it though
yes, i buy my paper work supplies like sign in and outs, enrollment forms, etc and they show me how to do the day to day "books" and weekly or fortnightly CCR forms so I get the $ back
cat good idea for not so much a diet but reform what you eat etc..is how lost mine, plus parked further away so made to walk..now i actually park away not even thinking as its the norm..ds informs me loads more from now on as his car too low for speed bumps!! so must park out of car parks with lol
have you seen in on FB?? quite a rev head car and as I have always been one im looking forward to it
mary; lol wow 30 years one can only imagine the hidden treasures? lol
ive just got home, been CL arranged payments YAY confirmed and back paid from 9th! day of seperation. so enough to get ds car on the road that week ! ds took me and K out to dinner to celebrate my independence
off to bed, am pooped! out all day
oh K is well, adapting quite well after a couple weeks of upset ( grumps, tantrums) today she was her wonderful 100% self, so am sure me less worried and my new dont care good riddance to bad rubbish attitude has helped

I've just canned the food deprivation as I've realised that Easter is upon us. I really need to go back to work if I don't know a long weekend is looming. So after all the anticipated chocolate consumption is over, I'll start then.
I've also decided to cheat. Mum's given me some diet pills which she can't use because of her blood pressure, so I'll have a crack at them as well.
Mary, that sounds like a sensible way to do it by walking to start with. I had visions of you leaping off the lounge and charging out the door.
Have you had high tea at any of the city hotels? I'm going to a play on Saturday and we'll get out around 3.30 which is too early for dinner so we're looking for a nice place to scoff. Another reason to start next week...
Vicki, you'd have a fit if you saw what Lost was up to. How they are tying up loose ends is amazing.
I'll have a look on FB.
I really should go swimming. I love it, but never get around to it and these days I tend to play around like an otter rather than swim laps. Fun, but not effective.
See you later.
:)
yes Easter not a good time to start Cat.
Are they duromine tablets cat, used before and do work long as mind set there as well.
Ds1 wsa a avid lost fan too, he told me it was a bit all over the place the ending?
NO easter plans here much as no $ yet, due tuesday...ah well need majority for ds car and to see us through the weeks till more on feet so probably best not over a weekend lol
Though am itching to get out more, cant wait to get established and if any energy left off out all the time am sure
Only thing planned is ds tomorrow to clean car in and out and fix his dash lights etc. (ds2's job) though im sure to get in there so can learn more
Such a tomboy still lol
happy easter all

Hi Vicki - they're called Reductil. I'm also having a go of a trial of natural pills from the US so I'll start on those first. It's for 60 days and allegedly they will pay you $1500 at the end if you provide a testamonial. I'll believe that when I see it. lol
Has ds seen the ending? I saw an interview with Jin and he was giving hints for the ending, but I thought it hadn't screened in the US yet.
:)
Cat, Not sure if hes seen end or not..never asked
Hope everyones having a great Easter!

Hello!
Happy Easter!!
Trust you've all been fine on this long weekend! We have been busy, as per the usual I suppose, with a few more Easter style activities thrown in for good measure - a trip to the Royal Easter Show on Friday, and of course the Eggs on Sunday. Genevieve is being administered her eggs on a one a day ration as the girl is Mad for chocolate, and I mean crazy. The flip she does is quite amazing. I know why we never give her lollies etc. She only got a few little ones but thats enough for a personality change it seems, even without being given one the thought is enough for her to begin screaming and crying. Nice huh? Bet you all wish you were at our place!
I have been diligently doing my C25K program as an antidote to my eggs! Also cause I want to get into the habit of actually doing it. This morning dh and the kids came down to the park and had a breaky picnic whilst I did my walk/run. I don't imagine they'll be accompanying me three times a week but you never know.
Oh, we went and ordered a new sofa bed today, and a new stove!! So exciting. The sofa should arrive in about 3 weeks but the stove will be months apparently. Nothing like a bit of Easter Monday family shopping!

Hi Mary - isn't it amazing how children will react. I was at a lunch the other day having a chat to a male (childless) friend and we watched in amazement as another friend gave his child 4 Fire Engines (red drink).
Progressively the little boy's behaviour got worse and he was getting into more and more trouble with his parents. My friend and I just shook our heads and he said that even 'we' know the effects of it. Consequently, the child was in serious trouble when we all left and really miserable.
Glad to hear that your exercise is going well. I've decided to wait until I come back from uni to attempt to be good. The friends I stay will pile on the food, wine and cheese when I come and stay and I always come home happy and heavier - lol. Wonder what the next excuse will be :)
How long does it take you to do?
Your shoppng sounds like fun. I've lost interest in getting my wardrobe, so I'll have to get to that eventually.
Cheers
Cathrine
oh lol Same her with K, complete character change, almost feral! last about a hour then sad then happy again lol. lucky only once a year

Vicki - I am so glad that things went well, in all areas! "Date" for a while, your little girl needs her real Daddy Bear in the passenger seat! Ah, so happy for you!
In comparison nothing much to report here! Went out to dinner at our fave in Chinatown with our "houseguest" who is now minding my big sis's place whilst she (and her fam) is in Spain. We had a lovely meal. Forgot Toby's tot-seat (cloth thing that almost fits in your pocket and turns any chair into a "highchair") so the poor lad was in the little stroller almost under the table - he didn't seem to mind as long as the food kept coming! Busy day with gym/creche in the morning and the horrible rain here, then out to lunch at mother's group friends place - another "mum" was down from the Gold Coast with her fam so it was so so so good to catch up again.
Apart from that, just married sex going on here!! So pleased to hear that J was up to tricks Vicki!

Yes they are good, very good! Must say I feel like those new days when you first fall in love? terrible way to get here but obviously what we both needed to wake both of us up.
I needed to accept it was also me, I didnt put him first enough, he also felt unloved, unappreciated, hence his throwing self into the comp as he knows no other way to deal with it..Even now his parents had nothing to say at split or reconcile! Just "oh ok" lol He knows he needs to change that for us to work though, to communicate to me, and I need to learn to not act like a Single mum. :ecomcity::ecomcity:
Mary:
I now also have a fav chinese! ds1 took me there and weve been going weekly since , sooooo yum and one of the best ever had, and the girls there love K, now calling them selves Aunty to her haha
Imagine you have your usual fun packed weekend started? I dont know where you get your energy hun!
Cat:
What are you up to this weekend?
We are waiting on a call back from mil, to decide if can work it to take K tonight so he and I can head out dinner, if not no biggy as ds2 ( whos 18) will stay here with her while she sleeps and we will just go up the road to dome cafe for coffee and cake or something..

Ah Vicki, I am pleased to hear that things are working out. More than pleased actually. I can only imagine that after all those years of being a single mum it would be hard to stop acting the same way - dare I say it esp with a young husband who seems to have spent a great deal of your married life sitting around whilst you did everything for the household. But he sounds like he doesn't have the best role model for balanced family life with his Dad. Enough on all that, I am pleased you are both working it out!
Yay to your own fave chinese! Now get dh there too so he can get stuck into the old faithfuls - I've never known anyone who wont eat sweet and sour pork, or beef and black bean or stir-fried rice!
Today we are having a quiet one (believe it or not!) til later this afternoon when we will trundle around the corner for dinner with our houseguest who is now my big sisters house-minder. G has a bit of asthma again, so we are medicating and monitoring her, it is under control which is great.
Tomorrow we are going up the mountains for A Day Out with Thomas at the Zig Zag railway. G is going to be so so excited - I just hope she is so so better! We'll pack a picnic and just take it easy getting there etc.
Last night dh's work had a party to celebrate their first year of business. It was fun to be out amongst it - drinking champers and chattering away to friends. Have to say I'm a little tired today!
Cat - what are you up to??
Mary, oh wow tomorrows day out sounds fabulous! dont forget the camera. Sadly dh is not a asian food lover lol hes a hamburger or pizza etc :( Ive improved his taste somewhat but just wont extend there haha. Always have fish n chips, etc there for those inclined anyhow lol
Ive aquried a new tastes since going ther too , schezwan ( spell?) beef, its to die for there..so yummy and comes out all sizzling
oh how I want right now lol

Hi Ladies,
I'm just doing some washing and packing because I'm heading up to uni tomorrow for a few days.
My friend where I'm staying rang me yesterday and asked me to go to a gallery to buy a print for his wife's birthday. The plan is that she would be away for a few days with the boys and that would allow me to smuggle it up there and give Tony a couple of days to have it framed in time for her birthday on the 19th.
He's just given me a ring (he's whispering in the laundry) and his wife is now not going to Brisbane - he is - on Monday! So now he's having a fit about how he is going to get it framed. He is a such a girl - lol.
Such great news Vicki and there are often two little culprits in domestic matters so it's wonderful that you're both talking to each other and listening. Well done.
Hi Mary - congratulations on dh's milestone and what a nice way to mark it.
Tomorrow's plans sound nice particularly if it's weather like this. I still haven't been on the zig zag yet (what a disgrace). When my cousin was over from Ireland, he wanted to see the Blue Mountains and we had a go on a train??? Not really a train, but it takes you down the side of a very steep cliff. Good fun.
Hope you have a lovely day and G is feeling better.
Better scat and get cracking, I still have some chapters to read before Monday afternoon.
Have fun
:)
Oh, have a happy break Cat. Hope all goes well for the present.
forgot to add hope G feeling better soon Mary and feeling good to fully enjoy it all tomorrow x
Hi there!
39 weeks now, sorry I haven't been here for so long.... Just wanted to let you know all's well so far.
Hope you're all ok.
Will let you know how things are after the birth...:fingerscrossed: Hopefully things will be ok.

Hi Tracey - thanks for dropping by!! Wow - won't be too long and you will be nursing your little one, how wonderful!! Lots of safe labour vibes coming your way!
Cat - have fun doing your week on campus! Trust the Art Mission was successful and framing will take place! You are right, it was a lovely way to celebrate the company still going strong - I think the first year can be one of the hardest.
Vicki - your dh is far far far too young to be stuck in his (food) ways! Get him out amongst it, even if he only eats the white rice!! I am so glad things are going well, it must be so good for all of you, esp that Katie-girl!
Yesterday was a hoot. Genevieve was pretty much recovered from her asthma - so glad we know how to deal with it at home when its mild - or halt it in its tracks I suppose. Genevieve was so so excited, she even guessed in the morning that we were going to see Thomas - don't quite know how she worked that one out! We had been doing a bit of G-lead chatting about Thomas and trains etc but I hadn't mentioned anything to her about seeing the trains. Both the kids had a ball! The Zig Zag isn't quite as thrilling as the Scenic Railway (the "drop" one at Katoomba, Cat!) but its fun to be in a steam train with all the other little people and their parents!
Today we are having a completely lazy day - I was going to take the kids out shopping this morning but G decided against it (I let her call it), she is still napping and T is back in his cot though I don't know whether he'll crack another sleep today.
Am trying to work out what to give my dh for his birthday - he went for it this year for mine so I think I have to make a goodly effort to get him some nice gifts. Have arranged a family dinner this saturday and my parents will babysit on his actual day - so, so far so good!
Mary, lol he wont even eat rice! Hes from the UK originally but I swear he has typical aussie man taste buds lol hamburgers, steak, chips you know.
His Mum spoiled them all, catering to every whim, even to the point of making 3 different dinners, etc!
but ill keep trying! Since hes been with me he east a lot more than used to, his mum was aghast at him having a lettuce and tomato in his fridge apparently lol
Ah so happy to see looks like G asthma is getting under some sort of control. Sounds like getting it sorted well x
cat; hope your enjoying yourself
Jariah! wow not long now love, make sure pop on let us know wont you, tis lovely to hear from you
well things are still wonderful. I know now all will be okay
even to the point of mending things between the out laws lol

Vicki - the typical UK food is so so bland from what I can work out. Crike - get him eating rice, thats ridiculous! If its a choice between eating what's in front of him and starving, I'd hope you'd find he'd eat what's in front of him - eventually!! Thank goodness there are no food issues here with my dh!
I am so glad that things are still going well, and that even the out-laws might be coming "around". I do remember that they were very supportive of you and Katie way back in the day.
I have just come in from Story time at the local library with the kids and I think T is asleep and fingers crossed G is soon too. She was just "reading" me "Maisy goes to the Pub" - its seems there is a gaping hole in the Maisy canon! We had borrowed "Maisy goes to the Library"!! Perhaps we take our dd to the pub too often!!
One of my friends is coming over with her son this afternoon - he's two - so that should be a lot of fun! She was one of my bridesmaids (I had 5!!) - and my longest friend - we met in first class!

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to have a chat and see what people think. (Hope I've posted in the right place).
My partner and I used to live in Sydney for 13 years and then moved to Brisbane, and have been living in a semi-rural small town just outside of Brisbane for 3 years in our own home. However, I am wanting to move back to Sydney - I miss the vibe, the food, I want to meet new people and try to get a paying job again....
I have a 5yo DD just started prep year at school and 20 month old twins (DS & DD). I have family 1 to 2 hrs away and I did have close friends down the road from where I live (until they disowned me because I was suffering from post-natal depression and they didn't understand) (so the small town has just got smaller!)
My dilemma is am I crazy thinking to uproot my family from sunny laid-back Brisbane to go back to renting in Sydney, no family there - only friends, and looking for daycare, work etc? I don't want to be selfish but I am slowly going crazy here and need to make some positive changes.
Thanks for listening xxx

Hi Chillimum - just read your post, I think that there are other places here that you might want to post it too. (moderators can you help??)
I am a sydneysider through and through so I can understand why you would want to move back here, but there seems to be some very good reasons as to why you would want to stay in QLD. Arrgghh, what a dilemma! Come down for a holiday and a look around with the kids in tow! That might be enough to put you off moving! I find that although I love holidays and visiting different places I am always pleased to get back to my own home!

Thanks quitecontrary, I wasn't sure where to post, but I was reading an earlier post of yours from last year mentioning the Coogee bay hotel and it got me thinking! Thankyou for your thoughts, maybe a holiday is all that's needed.
HI chillimum, i agree with Mary, a holiday to see how you feel before making the move.
oh lol @ G's interpretation to the book title! thats just so cute n funny.
yes with all the talking dh and I have been doing I must be honest and say ive not helped the situation re: inlaws. I need to accept that that is just the way they are with no communication, advice, help etc unless you ask outright. The do not show feelings and god forbid talk about them..
Dh knows he was the same and knows he must correct that though so as long as he does im happy, Im loving this new side to dh, hes really opened up and its just beautiful! Mind you i did ban the words " I dont know" from responses as that was all he had to say previously..lol we laugh now if he does say it and i give the knowing look for him to correct it.
Mil taking K on the weekend ( thanks to dh calling her to ask and arrange!) so totally looking forward to that. Have a few cafe's and choc factory planned for us to visit alone  and the following weekend will go back for more with dd. there is the wine vineyards just 10 mins away and the whole road is full of these things for tourists, lush restaurants and brewerys, cafes, choch factory, icecream parlours, oh and nougat factory! yum
2 yr anniversary next month so have found a lovely place that does wood fire pizza etc which dh loves! frankly so do i. Was thinkn more posh al'carte but thats rly not us and am sure given right atmposhpere the pizza and a few wines from the area will be perfect, will check it out on the weekend to make sure its just right
Where are you all, of enjoying the weekend i hope!
I have some wonderful news, mil came to get dd and she went to walk away so i called her with open arms for a hug, she broke down and cried and of course then so did i! Said a bit about it all and how her whole family is silly to bottle things up and she was sorry she was not there for me etc and all she wants is for us to be happy. So! It may have been a terrible 3 weeks for me but it was all very well worth it, no regrets what so ever as has made everything much much better everywhere!
Im so gloriously happy again!
am currently touching up my roots, enjoying the quiet after a total house clean, and relaxing while wait for J to end work and come get me for dinner :)

Vicky - so glad that things are fantastic. Its good to hear that you and your MIL have had a reconciliation! I am sure you and J are having a great night out as I write this!
We have just come in from a Caile (sp?) at the Gaelic Club in the city. Dh and I actually got up and did a set dance, thank goodness two of the other couples in our "set" had some clue as to what to do. It was "called" but that doesn't help us much! The kids had a ball, G ran around with her cousin and they danced and danced on the sidelines, T just was his usual charming self! My b.i.l is on the board at the Club, which is how we ended up there, with my little sis, parents and a few of their friends. So funny to be having a night out on the town with live music, dancing and the kids in the phil and ted!! I am glad we went!
Apart from that, we had a dinner party last night for dh's birthday (which is on tues) - 12 around the table and I did the cooking!! That was fun too, and the food was great, if I do say so myself! I did a keralan prawn curry, v simple and effective, lemon rice and salad, and a honey semifreddo and birthday sponge cake for dessert.
Today we took the kids for a swim at Bondi, as G announced the other day that she had never been to Bondi - not entirely true but we hadn't ever taken her for a swim there. So the kids loved the surf and G asked if we could go there every day! We usually go down to the Bay or the beach near my parents so it was a great expedition for us! To think for years I used to do the Coogee to Bondi walk every weekend with my (then) best friend - that was living in the East for you.
Enough on all that, its late here and I think I must away - our children have no respect for late nights it seems!

Hi Ladies,
3 different dinners Vicki??? Your mil is a loon! Glad to see that everything seems to be humming along nicely. Well done and glad to see your mil has cracked her veneer, hope she keeps it up.
It sounds like you and J are dating again - yay!!!
Hi Mary - the framing has been deferred until after Rae's birthday. We had the best time, she has been grizzling all week that Tony won't let her buy any art and in Brisbane she bought herself some birthday earrings because Tony will forget to buy her a present and best of all on the last night, she and the boys were moving their pictures all around the living room because she wants to buy a striking piece for the feature wall. But of course Tony won't let her... She will feel like such a goose tomorrow.
The night at the Gaelic Club sounds like great fun and the birthday menu sounds delicious.
Hi chillimum and Jariah, hope you're both well.

Mary, the dance night at the club sounded fantastic all round!
Cat, Hows your week been so far?
Dh work is mucking him about new car so not sure when will see him..Hoping alls well for move back over the weekend. We are confident it will work now he knows to listen and talk to me, which hes been doing with no prompting from me! Im sure he will feel so much better for it too, not good hold things in as we know..
ds car also taking longer than expected as well so have been rather house bound of late. really need to get out and visit etc. walking shops is quite a hike and more so loaded up pram up hill on way home lol
other than that all going smoothly.

Fairly quiet here, my stomach has finally stopped gurgling and now I'm in panic mode for my first assignment - how unusual !

Hello Cat!
No, I haven't run away!! How are you?
We are all fine here - busy as usual. Am now into my 5th week of c25k - can't believe it really. I seem to be turning into a running machine (hahaha - you wouldn't say that if you could see me I'm sure). Definitely getting leaner, faster and thinner.
Genevieve and Toby are both great. I started them both at swimming lessons (again for G) last week, and things have improved this week in that regard. It is hard work getting two kids ready for lessons at the same time. I am in the water with Toby and G is having her class with another teacher at the other end of the pool. Tobes is a whinger about it, but he loves swimming with us so I think its a case of separation anxiety from Genevieve!!
Our neighbourhood houseminder ex-houseguest has just arrived so I will leave this here for now. More news soon I promise!!

01-05-2010, 21:15
How are you Mary? Is the family all better? I can't believe it's 5 weeks either. I should do some exercise. I went to Curves for a while and it wasn't so much the weight dropping off - it was the inches disappearing that changed my shape. Alas, I'm too lazy - lol.
Not much news here. I'm purchasing a new family member on Monday - the furry kind. He's very cute with short black fur and white socks and a white blaze on his chest. He's a stray someone handed into the vet, so as long as he's reasonably well behaved, he has a new home. He also has a quirk - when he's sitting daydreaming or watching the other two kittens in the cage with him, he puts a paw into the water bowl and leaves it there. Not sure what that means - perhaps he will be the Forrest Gump of the feline world - ha.
Better scat and talk to you later.
:)

He is Forrest Gump... We're contemplating bubble wrapping his head before someone reports me to the RSPCA. He's been here for about 5 hours and has head butted the coffee table about 30 times. Maybe it's a sleep remedy.

Hi there Cat - sounds like your kitten has the same kind of spatial awareness as Toby - though 30 times is more than our lad bumps his noggin on the same thing, in a row at least!! How lovely to have a new pet!
All is well here. Genevieve was back at Fairy Ballet this afternoon after a 6 week break, she was absolutely exhausted by the end of it, thats for sure! We have a new babysitter in the form of a friend, which is great, she looked after T whilst I did the ballet run. So much easier than lugging the boy around as well. Tomorrow I have a 20 minute run straight out - eek! I wonder how I will go - it will be challenging to say the least. As will getting up early to run before dh has to head out to work. Plus it's "school" photo day at G's preschool tomorrow, and I have booked both the kids in for a sibling photo before "school" - so it will be a busy morning here before 9 I feel.
Vicky - married life must be treating you well again - thank goodness!!
Hope the rest of you are going well too! Be lovely to hear some news!!
Cathrine
05-05-2010, 11:40
Hi Mary,
Poor Toby, but they say drunks and babies feel no pain - lol. I always love the sound of fairy ballet. How many in the class and is it a little bit ballet or just swishing around looking sweet?
There is no way I could run for 20 minutes. Well done, you must be getting incredibly fit.
Boots is slowing down on the head butting, he's probably just concussed. He discovered this morning that he can meow. Up to now he had the mouth action, but nothing was coming out. He'll have to practice a bit because it sounds like his voice is breaking. Very squeaky. He's a cute boy.
Glad you're well.
Cheers
:)
Aw Cat boots sounds adorable! Got any pics yet?
Mary, hope the school photos went well
Just popping on to say am here still lol
Ive been in out in out since the car so when do go to post there is always something to do / go.
Apparently the day care still stalled, now telling me J's child check not back!! Its been over 2 months..his dad did have issues re " police check due to someone with same name and as they share same name father / son am assuming same issues. :( Nothing can do but wait, they wont talk to me to find out

I was bullied this afternoon and now Boots is Bernie. My great uncle would be rolling in his grave if he knew a cat was named after him. I'll send you some photos.
Police checks in NSW can take forever and unless your name is John Smith or Michael Johnson it takes ages. You really need to be Mustafa Vittorio O'Hara to get it through quickly - hahaha. You must be getting excited!

Hahaha Cat to the fabulous name in order to get a police check through quickly - when I used to work in childcare admin it did take ages for us to get the checks back on our potential workers.
We are fine, just breakfasted and wondering what on earth people wear to run in in this colder weather - I was too tired to go out for my run this morning but half of it was a fear of freezing til I really started moving! Week 6 is just about to be commenced, then its only 3 more weeks til I'm running 5km every run - apparently!
Everyone have nice Mother's Day plans? We are going to the science and technology museum and chinatown for lunch I think! And I'm going to push for a pub dinner tonight, I'm sure there won't be any complaints from anyone.

Bernie has had another name change - he's now Tosca. I know it's a girl's name, but he will be girl like shortly...
Mary, you are doing so well with your running, but you're right about these cold mornings - it's freezing. You'd have to be wrapped up like the Michellin Man to get started and then when you warmed up, you have too many clothes.
Mum's opted to have a BBQ so you've just reminded me to get some bits and pieces. I bought them a little BBQ for their birthdays so we can christen that. Hopefully it's another beautiful day like today.
I'm just drooling over a ridiculous movie called 300. If you want to see some stunning looking torsos, I highly recommend it!
An early happy mother's day wish to everyone and I hope you have a great day.

Hi Vicki,
We were discussing the missing guinea pig from next door called Napolean and I said it was a dopey name for a rat like creature. Then Dad suggested Puccini and I thought of Toscanini and then just Tosca. Poor little bugger is very confused.
How was your mother's day?
lol least didnt make mistake i made and let K choose, ours is called sweatpea which dh says is way too feminine for himl being a pure black male cat lol
M day was ok. I hinted often to all but still got none. I think Ill give up. They did try to help out with K a bit so suppose that something?
went to mils for lunch and we girls got stuck cooking, setting up and dishes while the men sat couch wtf? anyone would think was fathers day..Least my hubby took his plate out and cleared a few dishes,,the other 2, bil and fil never moved. so mil says next year we land the kiddies to the men and we are off out to a BOOKED lunch lol.
I also got dh's tummy bug day before! the sharp pains and dizzy spells along with itching? all very odd..told him when I said I wanted a mothers day gift i didnt want this lol

Hello!
Ah, Vicki - sorry to hear that you felt like the team let you down a bit on Mother's Day - poop to having to do all the cooking etc at your in-laws.
One thing about G being at preschool this year, the anticipation for Mother's Day was amazing! Tomorrow morning is the Mother's Day morning tea at the preschool and I can't wait to get my special present and cards and paintings!! Yesterday she thought we were all going to go to her preschool, just not quite grasping the concepts of celebrating something on another day/date. She has it down pat for her birthday though, as more often we have had her big party in Feb after being away or other family members being away during January!
Anyway, yesterday dh cooked breakfast and fended off the kids to some extent. They gave me an amber bracelet and flowers and a plant - all very lovely! G announced that she wanted to get me the gold bracelet - I tell you what, the kid can't keep a secret! We went out to darling harbour and chinatown for lunch which was great! Came home, the kids napped and I went out and did my run. Dh cooked us an early dinner - it was a nice day!
So, that is the Mother's Day Update!
I am looking forward to tomorrow's morning tea at the preschool - it will be a lot of fun. Apparently its all about hair, nails and accessories!! And cake!!
Mum tells me girls are much better when comes to mothers day etc so guess will have to wait for dd to help dh and her brothers do better.
Hope you enjoyed the pre school day, sounds fab with hair, nails etc?!!
lol @ G spilling the beans re: your gift haha they are so excitable they burst to tell dont they.
K has been wonderful! Sleeping through for over 2 weeks now and dry as well so the night nappy can go soon. DH - mothers day, doing well too lol. I forgot say his excuse, " your not my mother..." I tried explaining until dd can take it up he must AND also shows me he appreciates my "mum" job I do for the kids yaknow? Hopefully sunk in for next year lol
Going buy his 2 year annivesary gift thur, a hands free for his Iphone, which I know hes wanted since got it so a welcome gift...
oh speaking of, see if I got my gift sussed out , sitting here one night, holding hands he slips off my ring and pops my wedding ring onto his little finger, i asked what was doing and says ah nothing and puts back, wondering now if was getting size? LOL

Congratulations Tracey - that's wonderful news!!! A great present for mother's day! :yelclap:
Hi Mary - sounds like your mother's day was lovely. How did the morning tea go and what are the boys going to do - lol. I love amber, such a rich colour.
Hi Vicki - seems some more training is required with dh. It always annoys me that when there's a lunch on regardless of the occasion, it's always the women in the kitchen. I think it's a great idea next year to have a nice lunch out somewhere. Hopefully you were being sized up for a ring...
Tosca unbelievably has a fetish for water. We have to keep him out of the bathroom now because we have a small bucket that is filled from the shower to use on the garden and last night I found him completely saturated as he'd been for a paddle. This morning he was sitting with a paw in his water bowl. He thinks he's a duck.

13-05-2010, 14:37
Hello again!
Cat - I've been chuckling about your new kitten and the water fetish. I thought it was meant to be quite the opposite with cats - but nothing like nature to throw a curve ball every so often! We have to keep Toby out of the bathroom too, more a desire to stand up holding on to the toilet that does my head in!
Vicki - I think you should mention to dh, next time he uses the "your not my mother" line (must've been saving that one up, do you think he'd heard it throughout his own childhood from his Dad?) that he wouldn't be a father if it wasn't for you! Fingers crossed he was thinking about getting you a ring, esp since I remember what you had to do with your own rings not that long ago.
The Mother's Day morning tea at preschool was a hoot! Yes, I got my nails painted by my dd - what a scream! We do our nails at home sometimes, but I do all the work!! We did some art, played in the "kitchen", that kind-of thing, and had morning tea outside. G was telling her Grandma all about on skype the other day (my parents are driving around the west of the USA at the moment) - "We had a picnic for morning tea!" - the children were on the mat with their usual morning tea and the mums were in a circle around them having cuppas and biccies!
Last night we went on another epic adventure with the kidlets - out to pick up our Melbourne friend for dinner, he's working at Olympic Park this week and will be staying here on the weekend again. So we had turkish food at a restaurant out that way, and it was delish. The kids were remarkably well behaved, especially seeings it was so late for them. Oh yes, and G has asthma again, but we are on top of it. So I felt like a bit of a silly mummy dragging her out in the cold night air. We are having a day at home today.
The other news is our washing machine died, and has been replaced with a great big new one, which is quite lovely, and the plumber came around today and hooked up the house for gas, so we can get new heaters and our stove can be delivered as it is now in stock. Exciting huh?? Dh is so happy about the new cooker, he's been dying for a fancy one ever since he saw my Mum's huge italian double oven thing - nicknamed "the battleship potemkin" by my Dad. At this rate we will have a newly fitted out kitchen in about 2 more years!! We just take it bit by bit it seems!
So there is all my news for now.
Hope you're all well, and that Master Jake is loving his new life in the outside world!!
Tracey! Huge congrats on the arrival of little Jake Robert Ronald
Any chance we get a peak with a pic?? :yelclap:

Fantastic Vicki - that's wonderful news. Have you told your prospective parents? Well done!
I'm pleased to hear that your cat likes water too. I was beginning to think Tosca had suffered a little brain damage from always running into things. He needs to learn how to brake.
Hope you have a wonderful dinner tonight:yelclap:
Hi Mary - the morning tea sounds brilliant. Have you got a post pamper photo of your nails - lol :)
The Turkish dinner sounds delish. Now I'm instantly hungry and will have to go and forage in the kitchen. Is is similar to Lebanese?
How is your parents trip - are they having a ball? I was have a giggle when people (and me) get so excited about appliances. I'm sure I never admired a washer or a stove when I was a kid - ha.
Cat
Hey Cat!

You could be interesting and wear one of each...
I had to have some blood taken this morning and I swear that the pathology people also dole out methadone. Everyone in there had mental health problems or were drug affected. I especially liked the guy who had his backside completely visible and I don't mean just a bit at the top. I wasn't getting into the lift with him!
How was your anniversary? Great news about the children. When will you start?
Tosca hasn't hit anything today - so far.

Cat - I love where you went to give blood - makes it sound interesting!!
Vicki - YAY YAY YAY to your FDC opening oh so soon!! Trust you had a lovely night on saturday, saw the pics on FB and it seems that you had a great weekend!
All's well here, late again and not a proper catch-up yet again. Had a busy busy weekend (oh really, I hear you say!). Cat - turkish is similar to Lebanese, but different - suppose Middle Eastern covers it, we had some great food - really fresh and tasty. We went out to lunch for our "manny"s birthday (our now-houseguest again pal from London) on Saturday right on the beach at the Bay - a really great choice, the location was gorgeous and the food great too. Then on Saturday late afternoon we had people around for his birthday cake and drinks - talk about making sure he didn't feel too homesick! The Melbourne friend was in the neighbourhood too.
This is all over the place! I should really post before 10pm I feel!
Back tomorrow I promise.
Oh yes, and our Little Fella is almost walking - he stood up (nothing unusual there) danced and took two steps this morning!! So so cute!!

Oh Cat, you should've seen him laughing at his Mama this afternoon - I was having a private disco in our lounge room and he thought it was wonderful! Can't wait til the next baby disco - he will be bopping like an old hand! Genevieve truly will have a partner in crime!!

Sounds like great fun. When you take them next time and film them, make sure we can hear you laughing in the background. It cracked me up.

Hi girls,
Will get photos organised when I get time (and figure out how to do it!!) Not on here much lately too busy!
Thanks heaps everyone for your congratulations!

Good to see you here again Tracey. I bet you are just a little busy!!! Trust it is all going well!
We are fine! The kids are meant to be napping (just removed a pooey nappy from Master Tobias - he should be asleep soon) and then we are off to swimming lessons at 3pm. Playgroup was this morning, so Thursdays are just a tad too busy in my books! I twisted my ankle on Tuesday afternoon getting Toby into the car to go and get G from preschool, thought it wasn't too bad but spent yesterday with my feet up and Dh at home to do domestic duties. It is a lot better today, but I don't think I'll risk doing the swim class with Toby in my arms - we can just observe Genevieve. I decided to can lessons next term as we will be away for 3 weeks in July/August, and we've decided to keep up the family swim sessions on weekends over winter at the various heated pools around!
Cat - I will make sure that we do vid both the kids dancing when we get the chance - and you can basically guarantee that I will be laughing in the background!!
Hope you're all doing well!

Hi Ladies,
Are you getting any sleep Tracey?
Mary, I'm just looking out at all the rain and I couldn't think of anything worse than putting on a cossie even if it's a heated pool. That's no good about your ankle - is it better now? Where are you off to for your next holiday?
:)

Hi Cat!
I suppose I'm just used to pulling on my cossie twice a week all year round now! So on the weekend for fun wouldn't worry me!! Plus we get to check out all the kidlet pool wonderfulness if we head to the newer pools around!
Oh god, on the subject of injuries, my ankle is much better - but - I went out for my run on Sunday (the first since my ankle incident) and I did my warm up walk and got about 7 minutes into my run and my calf muscle "popped" - talk about ouch! Luckily dh was able to come down and get me in the car, and I wasn't too far from car access. So, I'm back to resting the other leg now. On the subject of this I will call dh soon and remind him to come home early.
My little sis picked up G for fairy ballet so I don't have to go up all those stairs with Toby in my arms. Our sitter is unwell today so I've got to drag him around on the G-runs. He is in the cot but singing, the silly duffer will probably fall asleep when we need to go and get G!
We are going to a wedding in Rhode Island at the end of July, and will stop in San Fran for a couple of nights on the way over there, and then we are tagging on a quick visit to England to see Grandad (and dh's family). I'm sure we'll stopover on the way home too, can you tell who hasn't booked their tickets yet??
So, there you go - an update from here!
Hope you're all doing well!!

Cripes Mary - you're in the wars! Is that leg better now?
Sounds like a lovely trip and the family catch up which reminds me, how is your brother-in-law going?
I'm supposed to be studying for exams, but I'm dithering and have a snoring kitten on my lap. He's really turned into a terrorist. I think the few days he was stuck inside with the rain has made him crazy and I'm running around trying to stop him destroying furniture and the screen door. I'm rethinking the acquisition...

Hello Cat!
All is fine here leg-wise. It feels about 95% better but tender to touch, so I'm giving the running a miss at the moment. I did go down to the gym for Aqua on wed, and yesterday when I was down there I used the exercise bike for 20 minutes, then got in the pool and swam for 30 minutes.
I think it will be a lovely trip. I am trying to accentuate the positve, poor old Dh is quite upset (in his English mustn't grumble way) about seeing his Dad again - but I think its very important for us to go for the kids sake (& dhs for that matter). So the wedding is the impetus for the trip! Our b-i-l is apparently feeling aches and pains again - not sure whether this means the radiotherapy didn't work or what - he's off to see the specialist again soon apparently. They (sil and bil) have arranged for a year's leave without pay - so fingers crossed this means they come out here for a few weeks.
Toby is very busy toddling around the kitchen, he is very funny to watch and so proud of his new skills! Genevieve is in bed and asleep already. We had a big day today, it was our niece's 5th birthday party - so lots of playing and suchlike for both the kids with the cast of thousands who were there. Thank goodness the rain basically held off - it was so nice to be out in the garden at their place I must so!
Get on with your studies Ms C! Enjoy the new kitten!!
Hope the rest of you are going well too!

Hi Mary - if your leg is stilll tender, should you see someone about it?
I think it's really important for the UK visit. It will be upsetting for dh, but I think it would be worse for him if he avoids the situation because it's distressing and there may be moments of lucidity which would be just wonderful. Brilliant for the kids too!
Like Toby, a friend's toddler has discovered his feet and I've never seen more bruises on him - lol. They've tried to child-proof everything, but I was watching him the other day and he just launches into top, unwieldy speed and it's all hands on deck to try and 'pad' him before he hits something. His father is now sporting a spectacular mark on the back of his hand from the railing on the verandah. I think they all need to be bubble wrapped.

Hello (hello hello hello>>> trying to do an echo!!).
Thought it was about time I gave this a Bump!!
Alls well with us. Just plodding along in the usual kind-of fashion.
Cat - you are right, the UK trip is a necessity. Poor old dh still doesn't want to talk about it but its going ahead. Genevieve is looking forward to seeing "Old Grandad who lives in a nursing home"!
Toby's walking is much much better, still pretty funny to watch though. He has taken on the desire to feed himself dinner which is a messy affair to say the least. It seems all the lad wants to eat for dinner is pasta - plain that is, with perhaps a little cheese. Not exactly balanced, but he seems to get through the food groups over the course of the day. Luckily he doesn't mind being fed breakfast cereal!
Well, its not much news really, but its a start! My leg is well and truly mended so the running program will restart properly on Friday. Have been using the exercise bike at the gym instead but I really want to get on with running in the great outdoors again. Can't believe I even write these kinds of sentences!
Hope all is well with all of you - come out, come out wherever you are!!

Ahh that's good to hear about your leg and about Toby's eating. Apparently I was a very fussy eater and my dear old grandmother would make me something new that I liked. I have slightly improved with age (food wise).
I've decided (I think I've decided) that I will study full time. I'm already ruined in the work sense, because I couldn't think of anything worse that going back full time. However, I will have to hone whatever time management skills I have left and be far more organised. Then again, I may change my mind again - ha.
Glad you're well.

Hello Cazzerpuss!! How nice to have another 40-ish friend in our midst! Your ds is just a few months older than my little one, aren't they funny at this age? Good luck with the trying (or ttc as they call it around here) - in my experience frustrating but fun!!
If you've trawled through here you can see that we are a quiet (at the moment) but friendly mob!
I suggest that you join your little ones "birth" group - may be a little chattier, and there is also a section for Newbies to introduce themselves - have a look around, there are probably other threads that will interest you too!
Looking forward to hearing from you again!!

Hi Quitecontrary, thanks for your friendly reply and helpful info. Yes my little man is constantly amazing me with his spirited antics and intelligence. Aren't childrens' brains and the unfolding of their little personalities incredible?
We say the same thing as your signature about our wee man - 'you're not a little baby, you're a little boy now!'.

Cazz - spirited antics is putting it lightly around here!! T has full-on dummy spits about just about everything, throws himself to the floor, kicks like a madman. I think though half his issue is his big sister, she must frustrate him no end without even trying! It was G who told us that he was a little fella, back when he was really tiny. Now she calls him "My Baby", go figure! They love each other most of the time, and thats the most important thing!

Aww so sweet. That sounds like fun! We get a bit of that too, but only when he's super tired and overstimulated. We get the 'arsenic hour' thing, but in reverse - K thinks everything is at least 50% more hilarious than normal and is utterly manic, leaping off tall couches in a single bound. Wonder if I have cocaine in my breast milk or something? (JOKE). I'm doing Pump classes so I have a bat's chance in hell of physically controlling him as he's getting so strong now.

Hello again!!
On the subject of Arsenic Hour - I've been sitting at the other end of the table watching dh feed the kids, Toby is blowing non-stop raspberries and I think he is actually ready for bed, as is his big sis.
Cazz - I reckon wrangling these little ones is more exercise than we actually need in a day! Tobes is a climber too, I do find it funny to watch. He's getting better at not falling off quite so much, which is a good thing.
Suppose I should get up and give T his pre-bed mothers milk - he's showing no real signs of self-weaning!

Hi all! We have had the running-commentary tired raspberries too. Re the climbing, I turn my back for 1 nanosecond and he's up the slippery-dip ladder, which freaks me out. He falls off things when he's tired so I need to be super-vigilant.
Cathrine - not so tired now but the other night Keir woke when I went to bed and didn't fall asleep till 4am. Talk about knackered! Teething, bit of an earache... permanently attached to mum's boob for comfort... also not nearly ready for self-weaning. I call him Junior Boob Enthusiast. :)
Having said all that, he is sooo much fun - he's such a little communicator with a ripper sense of humour (not speaking yet, but trying) and he's just started grooving along with music. Love it all!

Dear Cazz,
Sounds like a lot of fun, but no wonder you're weary.
Mary has a very funny video of her daughter at baby disco. All the little people are finding their groove.
They say drunks and babies can take a lot of knocks. I remember jumping off the garage roof with my brother wearing sheets we'd pinched off the line and taking the Superman dive - lol. First bone I broke however, I was 30 :)

Hope you're all doing well!
I think it must be time for a new thread, but I'm only going to start it if I'm not going to be talking to myself!!
Hello, hope I can join in, not due until June 2011 over 40 and in shock, lol I have 3 others all boys all way older and my last was off to school next year and boy did I have plans! But the universe had other plans and now I am wishing I didn't sell all the baby stuff 3 months ago!

Hello Imarni! Good to see you here! I kind-of wish we'd have a "oops" baby - we were wanting to have 3, then decided against it after our last trip away (we travel a lot as dh's family are all in England and his Dad is in a home with alzheimers and dementia) - jet lag and babies ain't fun!
Enough on that!
I look forward to seeing you here, and have a chat! Stick around!!

Hi Gals,
I am new. I have been in Older mums in birth.com.au for over 4 years - but they have had tech difficulties, and its been so slow and my comp is a slow old dinosaur as it is - so I am looking for a new place to play
I havent read too far back, I will try to over the next few days to get to know you all a bit better.
I have also joined the due in Feb group as I am expecting boy #5 in Feb. I will be 41 in the March. I had my first at age 32. DP had a vasectomy nearly 3 years ago, but we changed our mind had a reversal and fell in on the 2nd cycle after that - was a huge but pleasant shock. I had gotten rid of ALL our baby stuff - so am starting from scratch!! Its expensive but fun lol
I have been a SAHM since having kids, but was a teacher (might go back to it one day). DP is away with work - has been gone since mid August and not 100% sure when he will be home. We are most likely moving in Dec ---- so our house is for sale......so I have ALOT going on - so if I dont make alot of sense, that is why lol
Looking forward to getting to know you all (I have a close friend from births who used to post in here, but was stalked and had to leave - but she said to say hi...;))

Hello MummaofBoys!! Never a truer username!! Good to see you here!
I am 42 - had my second at 40, then promptly turned 41 three weeks later!! I've got the "pigeon pair" and they are generally delightful.
We are taking them away again in two weeks time (eek!), this time its India for one of our groomsmen's wedding - it will be the Whole (Monsoon) Wedding Experience - except its not monsoon season, and we will be up in the foothills of the Himalayas - 2000m above sealevel and counting!! I am so excited. Even more so after todays little trip into the city with the kids and dh to put in our visa apps. Major traumas getting that organised, and by the skin of our teeth we will have our passports with visas in place a day before we leave!!
G and T are a great little pair. I just love spending time with them (well, mainly!) - and I know I am very lucky to be able to be a SAHM. I also count my blessings having met dh at a stage where babies mightn't have been a possiblity, and not only to have married the most wonderful man but to have two lovely children is indeed amazing.
Enough on all that!
Looking forward to some more chat!!

Thank you M2Bs - I do feel that way!!
The funny thing is the year before I met Dh I taught English in China at a college - kind-of like TAFE except all the students lived on campus and it really was like high school here. I got thin and fit, and when I was finishing my teaching I was telling my classes that I was returning to Aus. The first class I told their response was "Why are you leaving China?", my first answer was "I miss my friends and family" and they were like "We miss our families - China is the best country though" then I thought I'd pull out the big guns "Well, I have to go home to meet my future husband, get married and have a baby" - the class cheered!! I then realised that this was the right approach for young Chinese people - all my students cheered and gave "Best Wishes to You"! I had over 500 students and it ended up that random strangers on campus were congratulating me on my engagement - jumping the gun somewhat! So, within a week of getting home I "met" Dh on RSVP - we met in person 6 weeks later, were married within a year (just!) and G arrived less than a year after that!! Lovely huh?
