Help! The warmer weather in Melbourne seems to be causing havoc with my baby's sleeping patterns. She was sleeping through the night (10 hours or more) but is now waking and unsettled.

I was wrapping her but it seems she no longer likes this as she's generally quite a warm baby anyway and just gets too hot and sweaty. She'll wriggle out of the wrap in warm weather and kick off any sheets/blankets, but then wake when it cools down later in the night.

Sooo .... I have moved her into a baby sleeping bag which she quite likes, however I have been noticing that while she is quite comfortable and goes to sleep in 22C weather at night, wearing say a short or long sleeve body suit in a 1.0 tog bag, later in the night when the temperature cools down she wakes up cold.

Has anyone else found this? What have you done to help this situation and get your baby to sleep through changing/dropping temperatures in the night?

we use a 1 tog seeping bag too. at 22C she's in a long sleeve cotton flannel top and a nappy, but nothing else. if it drops below 20C and she wakes then we ad pj bottoms, but if she dosn't wake we put the oil heater on at it's lowest setting. if it goes above 22C then she's in a short sleeve top or onsie. on really hot days we have a portable aircon and keep the room at a constant 23C. anything else plays havoc with sleep and it's just not worth it.

We used to do the same re clothes, put on what was appropriate for the temp when DD went to bed and then if she woke up cold put on pj bottoms or whatever.

My DS wakes up anyway for feeds, so I add bottoms, socks etc then. At the moment we wrap him in a cotton cot sheet as his wraps are flannel so too hot and his muslin wraps are too small.

Same problems here in Melb! DS 4.5months is still in a muslin wrap all night, so I just change what he wears underneath based on the temp. Tonight he is just in a singlet and a short sleeved/leg onsie thing and then wrapped and tucked in with a thin cotton blanket and sheet. I cant unwrap him or he wont sleep, so on really hot nights we will just have to leave the aircon on all night.
