Hi Ladies
Just after some advice on what to do...

so here's the situation...
We were invited a couple of weeks ago to a freinds 1st Birthday party but DD was sick so didnt go, but I have the gift ready to give but havent seen the family yet...
then i saw that the older sister was having her 3rd birthday party the weekend just gone and we werent invited so wondering what do I do when I see them and have a gift for one and not the other?

It doesnt really seem right to get a gift if we werent invited to the party (by the way we know both kids as equally) but then will be awkward giving to one and not the other:rolleyes:

At this stage I havent made plans to see them so maybe by the time i do it might not be necessary to still give a gift im not sure..

what would you do?

I'd buy a gift for the other child and drop them both of. There's any number of reasons why you may not have been invited to the second party but it's not the children's fault and seems rather petty imo.

Hmm tough one ... I think I would end up buying the 3 year old something small like a book... but then I have always been a sucker for these kind of situations :o

I dunno.. it's a bit wierd that you would get invited to one party and not the other??? although your DD is 1 so got invited to the 1years old i spose..

I would either

1. give none of them a present

2. get something small for the 3year old - she is old enough to know it was her birthday and i think it is not nice to miss out on a present when the other kid is getting one..

3. give one gift for them to share (is that possible?)

My DD is 18mths so a bit older than the youngest and interacts more with the older child...

They didnt give my DD anything when they missed her party which I just remembered...

Im a sucker too normally but with Christmas coming and lots of parties spare cash is needed as much as poss...

Thanks heaps for your replies I appreciate it. Will wait and see if I see them soon or not i guess...

Follow their example. If you feel really compelled give them both a card and some hair clips ;) You will be astounded how much kids love hair clips even the gaudy ones for dress ups ... that and a bottle of bubbles. Woolies sell a bubble solution that smells like chocolate or strawberries for $6 ;)

well in that case, i would hold onto her present and give it to someone for christmas...

thanks ladies:)

missiemack great idea! I should get some to have on hand anyway...

the present i had already wasnt that cheap or able to be shared so would feel bad if i didnt give something as equally good either...
