Hi everyone,
Just took my ds to the paed today for his 6 week check and the dr has written a referral to see a physio. He has put moderately severe metatarsus adductus....he said my little boy will probably have to have casts. Also a hip ultra sound cause it can cause hip issues:eek:
I walked out of his rooms and burst into tears. I know this isn't a life threatening issue but we have been doing passive physio since he was born and now I am being really hard on myself and questioning...was I doing it right, or for long enough and if I could have fixed it myself if I had just spent a little longer every time doing the exercises.
I hate the thought that he may have to be in casts for up to 6 weeks.
Has anyone elses little ones had this? How did they cope and what was the outcome?

I knew a guy who had this when he was younger and he is a great sportsmen now, from my knowlege of it the condition is not uncommon and rarely leads to long term deficiencies. You will get a better idea of the extent of any problems after the ultra sound, they will be able to see if the joints are correctly formed etc. I think it is also a case of the sooner treatment begins the better, sounds like you are headed down the right path and doing the best you can for your little one to me.

I'm sorry I have heard of the condition before and everytime I hear it I think it sounds like a type of dinosaur:laughing:.
