Hi guys!
I need some help. I'm not sure if I've posted in the right place or not, but I'm in need of some gluten free dessert ideas ASAP!!
If anyone knows of some simple gluten free dessert ideas, I'd love to hear them. I keep drawing a blank and don't want to do boring old fruit and ice cream!!
I'm after things that would be okay for adults and kids.
Thanks.
Love,
Nan. xx

What sort of desserts are you after? I have a couple of recipe books I can get some ideas off for you!

I usually stick to 'normal' recipies and just swap gluten products (eg flour) for our gluten free alternatives. For instance I make a chocolate pudding and use gluten free flour to make it. Yummo! I can give you that recipe if you like?

Most homemade chocolate mousses would be gluten free.

What about a cheesecake make with gluten free crumb crust?

Pavlova - use white wings cornflour in it if the recipe calls for it, it is gluten free. A sponge cake made with cornflour.

White Wings custard powder is gluten free, too.

A friend of mine uses Orgran gluten free flours for all her cooking, just substitutes it in the normal recipes.

Those ideas sound great!
BB - I would love that choc pudding recipe! Haven't decide if I'l use it this time, but I'd definitely use it!
Thanks again.

Hi Nan.

I'm currently on a detox at the moment...can't have gluten and dairy. So i've trying to find alternatives for everything.

Our local IGA store has an isle with all the gluten free products. In this section there are plenty of prepackaged desserts. Like mousse, muffins, etc.

I have also spent a heap of time on the web finding receipes for sweet things, as i'm a chocoholic and can't have any chocolate at the moment. I have found something called Macaroons....they are with coconut. I love them! There are a heap of receipes on the web for gluten and dairy free foods.

Hope this helps.

BB - I would love that choc pudding recipe!
Ok! Here goes:

Chocolate Pudding:

1 cup Self Raising Flour (I use Basco Wheat and Gluten free multi purpose mix)
1/2 cup sugar (I use 1/4 cup Fructose instead - its an easier sugar for my body to process)
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
60g butter, melted
1 tabs cocoa
dash vanilla essence

Mix together, then place into a greased casserole dish.
Sprinkle with:
1/2 cup sugar (or 1/4 cup fructose) and 1 tabs cocoa - mixed together.

Gently pour over 1 1/2 cups boiling water. Cover and cook on high in the microwave for 8 mins.

Serve with ice-cream or cream. :chef:

Just on the cheesecake suggestion - I make a toblerone cheesecake or mango cheesecake. I use crushed gluten free biscuits mixed with melted butter as the base. YUMMO! :p

Rice pudding is always deliscious. If you can't have milk use rice milk.

Also hot rubarb and custard.

Also.. incase of using cocoa.. be REALLY careful if you are extremely gluten intolerent.
I am pretty sure they have small amounts of gluten in the cocoa powder but don't specify. I know I always react very badly to cocoa powder.
