View Full Version : Fairy Garden Tea Party Menu
I need help!!
I have a tendency to get all excited and go overboard sometimes but I just LOVE organising kids parties!!
DD has just turned 4 and is having a Fairy Garden Tea Party on Saturday.
It's kind of a big deal as it's her first real party with her own little friends from pre-kinder so I'd like to make it special.
Invites have been sent asking kids to come dressed in their fairy best.
It's forecast to be a lovely day so I'm going to decorate our pergola area with some fabric and make a little sitting area for them.
Menu ideas are as follows (party is 10am-12noon so it's more a morning tea):
* tea cups (tic toc bikkies with marshmallows and handles)
* fairy bread cut into stars/hearts
* little sandwiches - soldiers
* mini cupcakes with sprinkles (banana ones I'm thinking)
* butterfly cupcakes
* pink/yellow lamingtons
* fairy nuggets
* fruit skewers (fairy wands) with strawberry yoghurt to dip
* jelly
* pink fairy fruit punch (or just some pink lemonade)
* pink meringues with yoghurt, strawberries & kiwifruit
May not choose everything listed, but if anyone has some other suggestions, sent them my way!!
Also, any suggestions for an easy game or two for 4yo's - their attention spans aren't huge!!
I've bought a bunch of wooden fairy want cut outs for them to decorate with paint, glue, glitter and jewels, I figure that'll keep them busy for a while!! :D

Sounds great. I made the teacups for my daughters party too i also had stacks of spare marshmellows so i iced some arrowroots and cut the marshmellows in 4 to make flower petal, stucked them on the bikkie and put a smartie in the middle. They were a hit also.
Sounds wonderful!! We went to a fairy party where they had cut out and painted flat toadstools, (so like stepping stones almost), and then they played 'musical toadstools'. It was great.
Ooo I love that idea sueliz! :yes:
JJ - I was thinking of doing petals on top of some muffins/cupcakes for the kids to take home - that goes down a treat in my house too!

If its practical and maybe you wan ta bit of a healthy option as well get some
platic type wine glasses(so they dont break) fill with some vanilla yoghurt and then add sprinkles(you can get the fairy mix sprinkles that are great for it) on top.
My 4 yr odl loves having her yoghurt like this, looks so pretty too!

My older girls threaded beads onto elastic to make bangles, we hid them around the garden and just before home time the "fairies" went searching for them.

Bubbles - all parties must have bubbles :D
And for twirling fairies get some lengths of ribbon and tie them to sticks or to cardboard rolls so they can have their own twirling ribbons to take home.
Ooh, I hope you're going to put some photos up... Miss 6 couldn't think of anything worse than a fairy party, she's more a foghorn-trash-the-backyard type of girl :laughing:
You could do some fairy face painting. Butterfly wings or even just some swirls and flowers painted on their faces with glittery or pastel face paints.
A fairy hunt might also be fun. Put little doors on the trees in your garden and hide some little fairies around garden beds or in pot plants. If you have a decent sized backyard it is a good way to wear little ones out by having them running around searching for the fairies and their houses! :p
Fairy chasey is another good one. Give one of the kids a wand and they are "it" and then they have to catch another fairy friend and (gently!) tap them with the wand to make that child "it". A sprinkle of fairy dust (glitter) can even be thrown in for extra fun.
Pin the wings on the fairy if you think they will be safe enough with a safety pin. Or pin the star on the wand, pin the horn on the unicorn... etc.
As for food you could do:
Magic pizzas - cut premade pizza bases (or make your own if you are handy in the kitchen) into small star or heart shapes and top with some veg and cheese etc.
Vegetable dipping wands - cut some veg into strips (carrots, cucumber, capsicum etc) and put some dip in a special bowl (a crystal looking bowl or even a hollowed out little pumpkin to stick to the garden theme)
pearl necklaces - thread grapes onto bits of string and tie up to make an edible necklace
magic pink drinks - put lemonade or soda water into cups and then drop some "magic" ice cubes in (make the ice cubes out of some red cordial, cramberry juice or grapefruit juice... anything pink) and watch the drink turn pink!
Oh you've got to top your cupcakes with little sugared flowers (you can buy them at the supermarket in the baking section). I made a double batch of cupcakes for my daughter's first birthday and they looked so cute.

I also had some older kids so I organised a treasure hunt around the garden which I'd set up as a fairy grotto. I hid little bubble blowing pots, little pieces of costume jewellery, little flower shaped soaps & some lip glosses in the garden and the kids had little pink paper gift bags to put their stash in. Just make sure you keep some stuff unhidden so you can top up the kids bags that are a little on the empty side. These doubled as party bags too.
Goodness! So many ideas!!
Too many! What to do?! Brain going into overload!! :laughing:
Streamers idea - I like that - I might actually tie some curling ribbon onto the fairy wands that I've bought (click!) (http://www.oztion.com.au/vshops/item.aspx?itemid=8665530&tid=77527403) after they've painted and decorated them!
The yoghurt/sprinkles idea is great! I could replace the jelly for some little cups of yoghurt with sprinkles.
Bubbles ARE a must! There will be bubbles if I can get my bubble machine to work!
I WISH I could do face painting - but I suck at art in a very tragic way :rolleyes:
I like the idea of a fairy hunt - I have also ordered a bulk lot of kids beaded bracelets (click!) (http://www.oztion.com.au/buy/auction.aspx?itemid=8036727&d=&sort=0&pg=1&cat=3809&view=List&f1=&f2=&type2=&type3=&type4=&type5=tickles&s=&pcode=&dis=0&freepost=) so maybe we can send the kids inside for a game, while someone else hides the things for the party bags (bracelets, mini bubble blowers, balloons etc).
Just Add Water - I'll see what I can do to put some pics up, have to convince someone to play photographer as I think I'll be too busy playing fairy mother!! (Hmm . . . wonder if I should find myself a costume!! :D)
