does the morning after pill work

i was with a guy wed before last (5th Aug) and we used a condom. but i think it broke. so i took the morning after pill the next day as the pharmacist told me. my last period was on the 19th June, about 2 weeks before i was with the guy.

i am scared that i could be preggers. does anyone know how reliable or effective the morning after pill is? i have been feeling nauseous the last 2 mornings and i am too scared to do a test.

Speaking from experience 'no'. I took the morning after pill and still became pregnant. Looking back though i remember having the 'runs' the day after i took it, so it obviously didn't work. If you are feeling different go and get tested even try the doc you went to that gave you the script for the morning after pill.

I took the morning after pill once when i was a teenager it worked for me. Maybe the nauseous is just stress. I would relax and wait at least week. Did you mean 5th july?

I'd say no too. My friend has a 5mth old son who is the result of the morning after pill.

oh yeah 5th july. silly me. maybe it is just the stress of maybe being preggers that is making me scared. my period is due on tues so its not late or anything yet. when should i test?

I'd say Thursday to allow a couple of days just in case it's stress.

It can be scary doing that test, but the earlier you do it, the easier it will be to work out what you want to do.

Some tests won't show if it is too early cant remember though how far along. I wouldn't stress too much yet wait and see if it comes during the week if not then it cant hurt to try a test next week. Just relax and try not to worry too much:)

There are some home pregnancy tests that work 10 days after the deed as i am to believe, but not 100% sure on that one. Also, generally it's better if you just wait till Tuesday and try not to stress about it too much or this could delay your period and make you even more stressed! :) Goodluck either way.

Thank you for the help. i am going to wait until tomorrow and then use a test. im also really scared cause i cheated on my bf. not cause i dont love him, but cause he wasnt there when i needed him. to fall preggers right now would be the worst thing that could happen. im still scared, but those stats are making me feel a little bit better.

Worked for me the one time I took it, but if I remember correctly it bought on my period the day after taking it. Good luck

Just wanted to say that just because you don't get a period straight away doesn't mean it hasn't worked. It sometimes happen and sometimes not. So don't stress if you have not had a period straight away.

In my one off experience it has worked. I felt a bit nauseous and tired but apparently that can be the effect of the morning after pill. My period was brought on the day after but its not always the case. Apparently if you have diaroeha or vomiting within 24 hours of taking it you have to have another round of it.

About pregnancy tests you can buy ones that test from 10 days but i recommend not taking one till 2 weeks after as its more accurate- theres no use getting stressed over nothing. And most of all Goodluck :)
