Good luck hokey. Do you think you got the timing right?
I am going much better today. Feeling positive and looking forward to trying again in a few months. Had a scan today and think it might be clear which is good as it means no d&c
Glad you don't need any intervention :hugs:
I think I did ok :fingerscrossed:
Mummylip - sorry to hear of your loss xx
Hokey - Goodluck have my fingers crossed for you. I'm in the TWW but we weren't trying this month so as soon as af arrives it's all systems go.
Not sure if I have asked this before but is testing urine the same as testing cm??
So we are soon to start trying for real, going to be a little hard to judge the timing given my cycles aren't the ususal 28days. I'm trying my best to eat as many girl friendly foods as possible but I have to admit i have been naughty here and there. The closer it gets to us trying the more DH turns into the food nartsie, questioning the sodium levels etc in everything I serve up!!

Unfortunately no, you need to test your cm and not your urine.
Bugger I've been doing it wrong then. Do you need special sticks for that?? Back to the drawing board.....

Nope just the ones you have are fine :)
Ok well i tried testing with the sticks I have and nothing happened then I read on the box for urine or saliva only so I might have to get some different ones, will check ebay later when i get a chance.

No they are the right ones, as they all say that ;) You may have low ionic strength, like me and in that case you will need a digital tester.

Was wondering how can the ph of my saliva & urine read at a good alkaline level, but when testing my vag ph its so much lower, it hardly changes any colour, so does that mean my vag is quiet acidic or do I also need the digital?
HPokey did you notice a difference in your reading after purchasing a digital one?

They aren't cheap so I won'ty lie, I got mine from **** Smith for $85.00 I think.
I'm not sure how much they are Scorpio - i've looked on ebay but I can only find ones for aquariums! Will have to try my local chemist...

Mods, am I allowed to post links of some or not?
If that's the case Hokey they have them on ebay for around $15-$20, might do a little more research before I buy. Would like to see your links if you're allowed to post...

You could do that but bare in mind it is better to diet and supp for a few weeks to alter your inner pH

Yes your right & I have been doing the whole diet and supp thing & still am, going to start trying in August, its meant to be my boy month.
Does anyone else believe in the boy/girl months? Cant remember what website I went onto but you type in your date of birth & time of birth & it then calculates and tells you which month is best for a boy/girl (something to do with lunar)

I agree, Im going to just give it a shot this August & if I dont fall prego then Im going to toss the lunar boy/girl months out the window, cant keep waiting for particular months to fall pregnant.
Ive decided not to purchase the digital ph only because I dont really want to spend that kind of money, seeing this is going to be our last child & I'll never use it again.
If by doing the diet, supps, ions & eggwhite dont work and I end up with another girl then I guess Im just not suppose to have a boy, awwww I really wish I had my husbands attitude he wouldnt do any of this if it was his choice, he has the attitude, 'what we get, we get, who cares' BUT I do :frustrated:

Hi Scorpio - nope I haven't purchased one yet, I wasn't sure what to get and I really don't want to spend too much $$ on one that will be probably thrown in the bin once we get a BFP. This will deffinately be our last baby. In saying that though I tried testing DH's swimmers on the strips and it turned really dark green straight away which means hes levels are way to high - we were starting to ttc this month so that's not good - he's been doing really well with the diet too so i'm not sure what else we can do...
Also with the chinese calendar thing, I don't believe in it - if it were true our second would have been a girl :)

Yeah I was saying the same thing Me33, about the expense of the digital, cause I also know I wont be using it again, Im sure they are worth their money, but Im giving it a miss. So your trying for a girl Me33? How many boys do you have Me33?
So you have 4 girls HPokey, Im one of 4 girls, had such a fun childhood & even now me and my sisters are all great friends, actually they are my only true friends.
I tested my Husbands semen PH, he's 8.5 thats the highest reading my sticks go to, so Im soooo happy about that, only thing is I wont know what mine is, bummer :(
Im going to go to the health shop today & ask them if my saliva & urine ph is reading 7.5 can that mean my vag could be the same?? seeing the sticks dont seem to work for me.

Hi Gals
DH & I are looking to start TTC in Jan when DD is 1. I would love a little boy next so have started to look at the gender sway threads (Hokey Pokey I am reading your TTC diary with great interest and :fingerscrossed: for you!) So I have a few questions if anyone can help....
1. I currently use the Mirena coil as BC at the moment - can I start to track my ovulation with this? I think you still ovulate with this?
2. How long do you think you need to track your cycle before you have a good lock on the dates to DTD?
3. Did anyone buy an books on the topic? I have found three on book depository - Choose the Sex of your baby - Hazel Phillips
- How to choose the sex of your baby - Landrum Shettles
- Guarantee the sex of your baby - Rosemary Weissmn
any recommendations?
Thanks for you help and good luck to everyone!

I agree with HPokey, I would forget those books & just stick to diet, supps, ions & timing, I personally think its more to do with the supps & diet, but what the heck I'll throw in the other things to, the more things to sway the better I guess, & then I start feeling a little like this :freakingout:

Hi everyone!
Friends of ours just found out their having their fourth daughter! She's upset cause she had just started reading up on swaying & getting to know when she was ovulating and then accidently fell pregnant, I dont beleive in accidents, I believe she was meant to have this girl!
Anyway Ive been a little slack lately with my boy diet, naughty me, Ive still got till August until we start trying so I think I'll be safe.
:fingerscrossed: for next month HPokey
Im a big believer of timing in life, our babies are coming to us when they are suppose to
I've MIA lately, it's been a busy week for us plus the two boys have been sick with the youngest teething as well, now i'm coming down with the flu to! Scorpio - we have 2 boys. I have one younger sister, she has no kids but DH has 2 brothers - one of he's brothers have 2 boys and the other brother has 3 boys so I know the odds are against us for having a girl but you don't know if you don't try!! I've also been a little slack with the boy diet, i'm getting tired of eating the same stuff all the time!
Hokey - fingerscrossed next month is your month :)
Welcome MJ, PG and Angel
So this month is the month we start trying, I'm just waiting for O day (i have long cycles so ususally around day 21). We were planning a 5 day cut off for this month but am now starting to think we should try 4 to give us more of a chance of a BFP....

Good morning all :)
I have a quick question about the gender diet that I cant seem to find the answer to. Do I have to be on the diet the whole time im ttc, or just around ovulation time, or from the end of af till ovulation etc etc. I imagine if it takes several months to conceive the diet will get boring and hard to stick to if ive got to be on it the whole time.
Also does DP have to be on the same diet or is it just me??
TIA

You need to be on the diet ideally for a few weeks BEFORE you start TTC :)
DH can also join in, it will help but it isn't as neccessary as the mother :)
I everyone I'm hoping I can also crash your thread...I'm on CD2 of my first month TTC #3. Hoping for a girl but happy with a healthy bub at the end of the day. I have a DH, 3 year old girl and 16 month old boy. I'm a pretty big believer of Shettles - it's worked 2/2 times for us. We've fallen pregnant in the first month both times so I'm preparing myself for the potential of a wait this time round...
I've started taking calcium/ mag tablets and then we'll follow the Shettles advice on timing, position and diet.
I've been tracking my cycle for 6 months now, 2 months with a ClearBlue Ovulation Monitor. Love the monitor! I'm a fairly consistent 28-day girl, OV day 14/15.
Best wishes to everyone in this thread! I look forward to following your stories :-)

Welcome Amy!!
Where do you get the cb monitor from and how does it work?
I bought mine off eBay (from UK) as well as the test sticks you need (you use 10 sticks per cycle). Worked out a lot cheaper. I also bought mine 2nd hand. Sounds gross but there's nothing (like wee!) that actually ever touches the monitor so it didn't bother me...I saved quite a bit.
I have found it easy to use and I love knowing exactly where I'm up to in my cycle.
Hope that helps :-)
Sorry - forgot to add the bit about how it works.
Basically, you press a button at the start of each cycle and the number 1 appears. You then check the monitor each morning (by just switching it on) to see if a 'test stick' icon appears, which means you need to pee on a stick and pop it in the monitor. For me, the stick icon doesn't appear til day 9, then it tells me to test for 10 consecutive days (so til day 18 of my cycle). When you've inserted the test stick, it gives you a reading after a couple of minutes. It's either a low (1 bar), high (2 bars) or OV (3 bars) reading. The rest of the cycle (non test stick days) is deemed 'low' (1 bar). Does that make sense? When your AF appears, you just reset the machine to day 1.
Hokey Pokey
27-06-2011, 19:52
Ah I see! So how did it know you needed to start at day 9?
I think that it was set that way for the lady who used it before me...but if you bought one brand new you would be asked to test on day 6 and it would require you to do 20 tests for that cycle. It then works out your average length and works out the day to ask you to first test...so if you're a regular 28 day girl then it would probably ask you around day 8 or 9. Hope that makes sense!
BTW - Read your blog/ journey thread...love it!

Hi Girls,
Hoping to join in on your thread! DH & I decided tonight after many discussions & number crunching that we will TTC bubba no 2 at the end of August.
The light of our life is our 27 month old DS so we would love a little girl to complete our family.
I've done a little bit of reading & vaguely understand that for a girl you need to conceive before ovulation & need to up your calcium levels.
I see that this thread is full of pro's on the topic & would love it if someone could answer a few questions for me -
1. Do you stop trying once the day of ovulation hits?
2. What vitamins/supplements are best for trying for a girl? Do you still take elevit as well
3. What is the best (& reasonably priced) ovulation kits you can recommend.
I have AF now so not going to start taking the pill again, just use condoms for a few months.
It took us 4 months to fall with DS & ironically he was conceived quite late in ovulation. I don't want to go into this too full on but will do our best to sway slightly.. :) would be happy if we had another boy - I'd just be out numbered!
Thank you in advance ladies & I look forward to following your thread. So exciting (& scary) to have finally made the decision to go for it! I had convinced myself it may never happen again!

Welcome Kobi :)
1. Do you stop trying once the day of ovulation hits? I dtd once just before O but am swaying for a boy. For a girl it is actually better to try an O+12 but that can be tricky!! Timing is the least important factor despite what shettles said ;)
2. What vitamins/supplements are best for trying for a girl? Do you still take elevit as well Magnesium, calcium and I have been told that cranberry is good.
3. What is the best (& reasonably priced) ovulation kits you can recommend. The best by far are clear blue digital you get 7 tests for $55 BUT well worth it! Although you can use cheap ebay ones too early in your cycle so you do not waste the good ones.

Hi all,
I purchased the "Conceive the gender of your choice" online book as we wanted to try for a girl ( my partner already has 2 boys from a previous relationship). I found the "girl baby diet" quite restrictive, so gave that up after one cycle. (The book gives a list of foods and a suggested diet as well I think, if you like the Facebook page you can also get updates)
We then kept to the stopping 2 days before ovulation method (this is slightly problematic for me as the OPK's dont always show me clearly when I am ovulating and the SFK's dont work for me at all) also book suggests positions with shallow penetration and for the woman not to orgasm (helps the boys along and changes the PH to more alkaline which the boys also like).
We did this for 2 cycles but it wasn't much fun for either of us and we haven't had a BFP yet, so on the most recent cycle we just decided to go for it as the gender selection stuff was just making it more stressful in general. Decided to try for a baby first time and if we dont get a girl first time, we will try the gender methods again for the 2nd one.
It is of interest to note that we are more likely to conceive a girl as the girl sperms are stronger than the boy ones. The boy ones are faster though, hence why you would probably conceive a boy right on O.
Cheers ;)

We are going for it next month, I think we've done all that we're meant to do to sway for a boy, well I hope so anyway & if not well then what ever gender we end up with I'll feel content knowing I tried my best.
Prettypetal79, it does get stressful I agree & can make you feel a bit like this :freakingout:

Hi I'm new here. I've just joined up. DH and I are TTC a DD using the gender swaying techniques of diet, supplements, timing BD to O etc and I have a question about the diets.
I know to sway pink means low salt/sodium, but is it ok to have one small meal a week that is high in salt, with garlic and olive oil?? You see we go to MILs every weekend for dinner and she cooks mediterranean style with a lot of salt/stock powder, garlic, onion, olive oil, red meat, red wine, bascially everything blue (no wonder she only had boys). I've tried to ask her to change the way she cooks when I was BF (DS would get an upset tum something chronic whenever I ate chilli.) and she didn't ("No there's no chilli in it" she would say, but it would burn your mouth when you ate it) So would it be OK if I abstained from salt all week and had a (small) meal once a week? I'll avoid going there around time of O, but I can't avoid her for 6 weeks/3 months or more. What can I do??

Also, its great to have an Aussie forum. I've been looking at other forums from the US and they talk about brands that are not available here. Like Reverse Osmosis water, does anyone know any brand names of RO water here in Aus, preferable WA? Evian is a good alternative but is very $$$. Thanks.

That would be fine :) Does she cook up a variety of foods so you could bulk up more on something else that is better suited for you (like a salad, lol).

TY tested today 10dpo and bfn.
Hokey - crossing my fingers that it's just too early to test yet! I remember with DS#1 I didn't get a BFP until well after AF was due.
Happy Jan - welcome to the thread, I too am swaying for a girl
Scorpio - how are you going?
I can't read any further down the thread so sorry if i've missed anyone. AF arrived today (3 days early!), I was fully expecting her to arrive as I got my O dates mixed up so O'd 2 days later than I thought i would so i'm not too upset about it - just going to try harder this month - just wish i didn't have such long cycles it's another 3 week wait for O time again, DH & I went a little crazy on the diet this weekend and ate all the things we haven't been able to so i guess it'll give us a couple of weeks to get back on track :)

Hi Newbies
Hey Me33, sorry you missed your O, Im going good thanks, we are going to start trying next month, we've 'fallen off the wagon' a few times with the diet, but its now or never!
Fingers still crossed for a bfp HPokey, maybe Me33 is right, maybe a bit early to test.
Sometimes I think maybe I shouldnt have another, so comfy with my girls being 8yrs & 6yrs, but Ive always wanted 3 kids & I think I'll regret later on if I dont, has anyone else had this feeling?
Or is it because Im so scared to get another girl? I know that sounds bad, cause honestly I would be happy but I really want a boy.

Hi Talez,
I tried the baby girl diet for about a month and found it quite restrictive, have added foods from the E book I purchased, tricky to find foods high in calcium and magnesium that arent also high in potassium or sodium. Hope this helps :):)
'In order to greatly increase your chances of conceiving a girl, you (the
woman) should eat plenty of foods that contain calcium and/or
magnesium. You should begin this diet at least six weeks
before you plan to conceive your baby girl.
Here are some foods high in calcium:
● Vegetables – bok choy, broccoli, Chinese cabbage,
collard greens, kale, mustard greens, turnip greens,
and white beans.
● Diary products – American cheese, cottage cheese,
cheddar cheese, ice cream, pudding, and yogurt.
● Orange juice (especially fortified orange juice)
● Tofu (if processed with calcium sulfate)
Here are some foods rich in magnesium:
● Buckwheat flour
● Raw oat bran
● Wheat Flour
● Dairy – canned condensed milk, low fat yogurt
● Unsalted nuts – almonds, brazil nuts, cashews, pine
nuts
● Beans – black, navy, white
● Artichokes
Boy foods
Foods that are very high in potassium include:
● Meat and fish
● Fruits – apricots, avocados, bananas, cantaloupes,
honeydews, kiwis, oranges (including orange juice),
and prunes
● Vegetables – lima beans, potatoes, spinach, and
tomatoes, and winter squash.
● Vegetable juice
● Milk
Foods that are high in sodium include:
● Meat (including some fish) – anchovies, bacon,
caviar, dried beef, chipped beef, corned beef, ham,
bacon, Canadian bacon, canned meats, lunch meats,
pepperoni, sardines, and smoked salmon.
● Cheese
● Canned and dried soups (including broth)
● Tomato products – tomato sauce, tomato paste,
tomato juice
● Snacks and party foods – chips, dips, salted nuts,
salted popcorn, and salted pretzels.
● Vegetables – lima beans, frozen peas, pickles, olives,
sauerkraut, and any other vegetable prepared in
brine.
● Chinese food prepared with MSG
As you can see, some of the foods from each category are very
similar. Sometimes the similar foods work toward the same goal and
sometimes they work toward different goals.
For example, orange juice is both high in potassium and calcium.
Therefore, it would theoretically work toward helping your egg attract
both male and female sperm.
The key is for you to find a majority of foods that only help you toward
one goal – with attracting male sperm or female sperm, but not both.
Otherwise, what you eat may not have any effect or it may actually
have the opposite effect from what you’re looking for.' (How to Conceive the Gender of your choice Ashley Spencer)

Hey PGirl, what gender are you swaying for?
Im trying next month for a boy, already have 2girls, Ive been doing the boy diet & supps for the past 4months, so I think Im ready & basically its now or never, so I really really hope this whole swaying thing works & I also really really hope I fall pregnant straight away.
Hokey yes I had been testing quite regularly, we were about to embark on our 1st IVF cycle so I was checking all the time! I thought i wasn't pregnant so we started IVF and then a couple of weeks into it I felt something wasn't right so I tested and bingo I got my BFP! How are you doing?
Scorpio - I sometimes have little freak outs about having a 3rd - and it was me that always wanted 3 - DH only ever wanted two! But as you and my DH have said if we don't do it we'll end up regretting it later in life (DH is happy to have a 3rd now as long as we have bubs before he turns 40 late next year otherwise i probably would've put a bigger age gap this time around!) Good luck this month!!
Talez - welcome to the group, if you have a 31 day cycle then u should O 14 days prior to AF so day 17 would be O day for you - have you tried charting?? I've been taking cranberry, calcium & magnesium. I've been trying to stick to the girl diet as much as possible but I find it a little restrictive so I just make sure i eat as much as possible on the diet list and if I do waver a little I make sure the food is as low in sodium as possible.
Petesy girl - September will be here before you know it! What are you swaying for??

Hi Me33, yeah it has been really quiet in here.
I bought a digital ovulation tester, they are so great & easy, no guessing games, so Im just waiting for a positive LH surge and then we are going for it - nervous & excited! :fingerscrossed:
So how are you going Me33?
Goodluck Scorpio hope you catch that egg! Do you mind me asking how much the O tester was?
I'm all good, i'm currently 3dpo so just waiting to see what happens this time around, fingers crossed we got our timing right this cycle!
SCORPIOGEMINI
04-08-2011, 15:50
It cost me $53, yes expensive considering you can only use it seven times, but if you can work out your cycle then you wont need to use all seven strips in that one month. Ive tried the usual strips without the digital reading, I just found them a little hard to determine yes or no & the digital one recommend you use your first morning urine, which is very convenient, so the digital gives you a smiley face if the lh surge is present and a circle if not, real easy.
Goodluck Me33 fingers crossed for you.
Im still waiting, I'd say I'll be ovulating in 3 more days.

hi, im not yet ttc but thinking about starting in dec and thinking of trying to sway for a girl. we have a gorgeous little boy who is nearly 14 months old. he is such a bubbly, outgoing and happy wee fellow that part of me wouldnt mind if i had another boy, but the other part of me would like a girl next time. im not sure if we will try for a 3rd baby hence why im thinking of using gender swaying techniques next time around.
for those trying to conceive a boy, when i fell preggers with my son we didnt intentionally try for a boy (i just wanted to be pregnant!) but we did dtd on the day of ovulation and the next 2 days after, and before ovulation but 3 days prior. im thinking i will try time dtd around ovulation but for a girl which i understand is up to 24 hrs prior to O?? also i took vitex last time, just the month i was ttc and fell preg. im thinking ill take this again. does anyone have any stories about vitex and it favouring one or other sex?
also what supplements are supposed to help conceive a girl, and what lubricant, i think i remember reading there were certain ones that favour girls :)
ps thanks for letting me pick your brains!!:goodvibes:
I hope you're feeling isn't right Scorpio!
I was feeling a little confident but not so much today, my temp has dropped a little this morning and i'm getting some cramps - i'm feeling really disappointed as I thought we were in with a good chance this month, it took us 18 months to TTC DS1 (only 1 month for DS2) and even though it's only been a couple of months this time around I'm starting to remember just how horrible this TTC thing can be :(
I too was wondering where Hokey had gotten to - hope you're doing ok x
Tren - welcome to the thread, i'm also swaying for a girl, sorry i can't give any tips on vitex as i really don't know much about it but the supplements i've been taking are cranberry, calcium & mag and of course the preg vitamins. I have read that some lubicants can favour girls but i'm not sure if they are only available in the US? I'm sure one of the other girls might be able to answer that one - maybe I might give that a try next month too.
Ok well i've decided to skip the gym this morning and have some retail therapy - although not sure if it will be very therapudic with two kids in tow??

Aww, still crossing my fingers for you Me33. Yeah I hope Im wrong also. Im a strong believer of our babies coming when they are suppose to, I really think they are already chosen for us, they're birthday's are already in print before we even know it.

thanks me33, ill go look at the health shop tomorrow :) i havent started the diet, am still trying to decide how far to go with it all  are you? what children have you got already? we have a 14 month old boy, he has been just wonderful. i wouldnt necessarily care if we had another boy but i think we will stop at 2, which is why i will sway for a girl :)
Hi Tren, we have two boys - one 4 year old and one almost 2 year old. We started off doing really well on the girl diet but as time has gone by we've gotten slacker and slacker! I was just getting really tired of eating the same stuff for months on end. Now i just try and limit my salt intake as much as I can and then if AF shows up I getting a little stricter between AF and O. DH's family history has strong boy lines so i'm not sure how successfull our attempt is going to be but I figure if we at least give it a shot we won't be wondering what if IYKWIM?

Hey everyone, thought I'd join. I have three boys trying for girl and sending you all my boy dust ......
I have a very paint positive today so fingers crossed my sway is perfect :)
Hope my post made sense - faint positive :)!
I have bought cheap internet tests and they come up really faint so I might need to go and buy some from the chemist today just for fun. I did I pretty good sway for a girl I think lol, our last dtd was 5 days before O so that's a good sign and I even used a douche which I thought I wouldn't but DH's ph was too high so used a lime douche. Really hoping for a girl so I can buy some girl clothes and use a girl name for a change

I will also be swaying for a girl- I am not going to be doing it too seirously...only taking the vitamins etc- I am on a Swisse pregnancy multi, Blackmores (i think) cranberry 15,000 and natures own (i think) calcium and magnesium (I take 2 tablets a day). I also heard that artifical sugar (so equal tablets etc) help sway for a girl, buut who knows lol.
We will be TTC next month (eeeek!) and will be DTD 5-2 days before O.
Good luck with getting ur little pink bundle- Man I would love a little girl sooooo much! x

I commented on here ages ago. We were swaying for a girl with a low effort Shettes method. We have previously fallen pregnant first go so we timed it to dtd 9 and 7 days before O, missionary and no orgasms.
We had our scan last week and it's a GIRL. :celebrate:
Good luck to all the swayers out there!!!

Hi Pinkisthenewblack - I would so love a girl bub too fingers crossed you fall easily and get the pink result
I'm so excited to be pregnant but the waiting game till I find out the sex is going to take forever. I am tempted to buy one of those intelligender things but hear so many bad results I wanna know now lol
Hello to everyone trying - good luck to all xx
HimherandHe - congrats on you're good news - wishing you all the best for a healthy pregnancy.
Muls - congrats to you too. I hate all the waiting games you have to play while TTC! We tried one of those intelligender tests with our last boy but I probably won't be wasting my money next time - the results weren't clear at all and left us more confused than ever!!
Pink - welcome to the group - we're also swaying pink - goodluck x
Bambinos - hoping to log on here tomorrow to read some good news from you also :)
Ok now I think the rest of us in the group need all this good news to rub off on us also

HPokey, Ive been thinking long and hard this past week about how important is it to me to ttc another child regardless of gender and I always seem to go back to the thought of if I knew that I was going to end up with another girl I wouldnt want to try. Im really not ready at the thought of I could possibily conceive another girl, therefore I shouldnt want to bring another child into this world knowing that I will have huge gender disappointment if I end up with another girl, I know that sounds terrible, but Im being honest.
I know natural gender swaying is not 100% guaranteed, and no one has ever said it was, but I guess it just gave me hope. Ive been on other forums where women have done hard core gender swaying and still end up with the undesired gender, this is why I dont feel confident in the whole concept of it anymore. And Im just not willing to take a 50/50 shot.
Good Luck to you HPokey and I really hope you get your boy and if you dont I hope you can be happy regardless. Enjoy your girls, life is too short, no one knows if tomorrow is coming.
GOODLUCK EVERYONE & bye for now :goodluck:

Well that didnt last very long now did it, cause Im back only this time Im back cause I got a :bfp: I really thought we missed the boat this month, but obviously we didnt, I cant believe it.
I was wondering why AF hadnt arrrived yet, so I had 2 prego tests left over from August, so I tested yesterday and yep 2 strong lines, tested again this morning just to double check and yep 2 strong lines again.
I got to tell you I was upset, I started to :crying: cause Im just so scared of a failed sway. And also cause I really started to reconsider the whole idea of a 3rd child because I dont want to have gender disappointment, but obviously someone above had other plans for me.
Now Im on a new journey in my life, one that I now need to quickly learn how to accept possibly having another girl, Im so hoping for a :malesymbol: but I guess I cant do anything about it now, its no longer in my hands.
All I know for sure is that this little bean was meant to be.

Hi Ladies,
I havnt come in here lately, I've been trying to not think about TTC or Gender as much (Still taking vitamins etc)
Well we got our positive test on Saturday! We are excited but very shocked as it was our first month of actual trying (after being off the pill for 4months) soooo other than the dreaded 12 week wait the next exciting thing will be the gender scan!
We did time sex with pink swaying do who knows we will see, either way a healthy happy baby is all we need! Thank you for all your advice when I first posted & I will keep you updated...

So much great info in this thread - and Scorpiogemini, I know how you feel. I REALLY want a girl and would be disappointed with another boy, but am thinking I'd be more disappointed I didn't
Dee25 posted some great links but they don't seem to work anymore! Help!
I have tried testing my CM ph, but can't seem to get anyvreadibg. I Rhinocort maybe because I can't get enough to wet to sample paper? Anthills girls? Otherwise, what did you guys use - anyone use a digital phvtester? Where dud you get them, and how much do they cost - and ate they easierbtonuse?
Everything about my other children indicated they should be girls - drink lists of milk, eat stacks yoghurt, take cranberry tabs, no tea/coffee/coke, only BD on the last day if my period, etc so I'm not sure where to start, hence I guess I'll check my ph first!!!
Hope you guys that have had success can help me out and send me some pink dust!

We want to TTC next year, for a winter baby during the following year.
We're both desperate for a boy; we have a little girl who is five now and she is just...the best thing out there. We hoped for a boy the first time, and even though hubby was happy it was a girl, I was quite upset. Most of the little girls I know are Jersey Shore drama queens in three foot high bodies, and I didn't want that. But she's been a big surprise! If she's even half this polite, quiet and intelligent as a teenager, I'll be the luckiest parent alive! :)
We want a little son, and our daughter has proclaimed that she wants a little brother. The actual "trying" isn't an issue...7 years into our relationship and it still goes on every night :highfive:
Now I just have to figure out all this boy-swaying stuff..my head, my head! It aches! So many different methods out there! Eat bananas...eat dairy...supplements....tablets:freakingout:
High dairy can actually sway boy
Man - really??? Do you know why? So am I actually better getting the calcium via supplements?
Still need to find a way to better test my ph though. Just can't get it to work using the test strips

Hello again
I participated in this thread before my last pregnancy and swinged for a boy and we got a boy!
We also got placenta previa. Boo. Turns out placenta previa is more common in boy pregnancies because of the timing of implantation so...
I'll be swinging for a girl when we try for a third in just over a year.
Any pointers?

Hi everyone! Mind if I join in? We are TTC#2 now and I would love a girl BUT in saying that, would love my son to have a brother. We will be 'swaying' for a girl. Any tips/tricks would be appreciated :)I am yet to scroll back through the thread so will do that when I get a chance.
Now, I am off the pill this month just to see if I ovulate which I did :smiliedance: Hopefully I will next month too. Am I meant to DTD before I get a positive OPK or as soon as I get one, in order to get a girl? I'm confused lol

I believe girl swayers aim for either a cut off or an O+12.
Thanks Hokey Pokey - but another question. They look like that need to be held in water (particularly the deluxe one). What if you don't have a lot of CM? How hard is it to get a reading with only little samples?

Can I join in please ?
Trying for another bub - already have 3 boys so would desperately love a little girl :) this is our last bub !!
Things I am doing to sway - cutting out a lot of my normal diet :( taking equal tablets, drinking water, yoghurt, cranberry tablets, still have to get the calcium and magnesium tabs. Will be testing my PH and DH's PH. Will probably DTD every second day with a 3 day cut off. I don't do any charting ! DH will be taking supplements too. Determined not to drive myself :freakingout:
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and everyone has a great new year ! :D

Hi all,
I've joined a couple of threads and thought I'd join this one too as we are TTC and have been since we lost our first daughter at 37 weeks. Due to a low fertility test result, we are just desperate to fall pregnant again, so are happy with either a boy or girl. But I think in my heart, I really want a girl - not to replace Lexie, but I just feel that's what would work for us. It's strange because initially I would have preferred a boy first, but was over the moon when we found out we were having a girl... so I guess it doesn't really matter.
Anyway, I started from the beginning reading all these posts but gave up at about page 24... it was lovely to see people leaving the thread when they got pregnant though - and seeing whether their swaying worked. As I've only just gotten on to this now, I haven't changed my diet in anyway, although we did pull up BD'ing on day 13. With Lexie we BD'd on Day 13 and 14 and I o on day 14, so don't know what will work?
Anyway, good luck everyone, I have 4 days till I test and if it doesn't work this month, I think we will just BD on every day near and around o, as I'm starting to stress we won't be able to fall pregnant again.
:babydust1: for everyone!! :fingerscrossed:

Hi :)
Got my diet cranberry juice today - chose diet cause it doesn't have sugar - has fake sugar :) hope this is right... Got some lime juice just incase. Am wondering about the equal tabs I am using - I have only been having 1 a day and thinking this probably isn't enough ? TMI warning :) tried to test my CM last night - couldn't even get enough CM to do a test :/ don't know what to do there...also looked on the calendar and the new moon is due when we are due to dtd - this is all good as long as my cycle plays the game ;)

Hi Ladies!
I have been following this thread for a while, and this cycle will be our first try for baby #3. We have two gorgeous girls and we thought it might be fun to try for a boy to finish off our family. SO, I thought i had it all worked out until i got my positive OPK this morning now suddenly i feel confused! When should we DTD? If i ovulate within 12-36 hours after my positive OPK, should we DTD tonight? Or in the morning? or Tomorrow night?? Ahh! I would really appreciate some help!!

Hi Lollie !
I have 3 boys ;) and according to my diet I have the perfect diet for making boy babies - lots of bad food - chips, lollies, biscuits, veggies, cups of tea, soft drinks, orange juice, meat, tomatoes etc. I am finding it really hard not to eat all the food I love :( hoping the supplements I am taking will get me over the line !
DTD on Ovulation or as close as possible !
Do you do charting ?
Good luck !

Thanks girls! I found it hard to follow the diets, a little pre seed and baking soda has been recommended to alter ph. I do chart my temps & cm, all indications point to today as well as a pos OPK! I had a family wedding over the weekend and i had two late nights, sleep ins and a few champagnes! So I'm sure my temp chart is a little out of whack this month, typical hey, right when I need it!! Oh well! Tonight might be the night!!

Good luck !
Yes I am charting. I am using opk's and temping. Thanks for the advice. Yeah I love all those foods as well. Fingers crossed. :-)

Woohoo ! Congratulations 4 little monkeys !
So pleased for you :)
We are at the pointy end now - its dtd time (sorry tmi)
Have done all I can -
Struggling to test my cm - when I actually tried again the other day - it just dried on the test strip. I can't seem to get enough to test properly. I guess that's part of girl swaying, the less cm the better ;)
I hope I get a bfp this 1st cycle cause I will really struggle to keep this up much longer !
Am due to "O" on Thursday I think. We are having a cut off day though.
Take care !
Shall be back in a few days :)

Hi !
I cut out alot of meat - still ate chicken. Didn't eat alot actually ! I took calcium, magnesium and cranberry supplements. Drank lite cranberry juice, took equal tablets, used aci jel the day of dtd and half an hour after dtd, drank more water and caffeine free diet coke. Dh took the cranberry, calcium and magnesium supplements and drank cranberry juice and lowered his coffee intake. That's about it really besides dtd in a new moon phase.
I just hope it's enough !
Got a BFP at 9dpo this morning !
Pretty excited !
Nervous as anything ! Have had 2 miscarriages in the last few years so I am a bit worried about that and of course I can't help wondering if the swaying worked !!
Of course it has all been decided now ;) I am not confident though - wont surprise me if I get told its another boy....

Hi everyone
I'd like to join in too, we would love to sway for a pink one.
:cheerleader1:
We have two beautiful boys and would love to have a baby girl to complete our family.
I have no idea where to start and have read through every page of this thread in the hopes of getting as much information as I can.. my two boys were surprises and we never planned around ovulation or anything it was a case with both if it happened, it happened ;) so I have no idea where to start with figuring out when I'm ovulating or any of the other technical stuff....
I want to sway as much as I can so that I know I did my best to try for a girl..if anyone can help it would be very much appreciated!!
Thanks Marnie

Hi marnie- there is a thread on here somewhere that is called low tech gender swaying - have a read of that - I got lots of tips from there :)

Dear Marnie, I, like you and many others have 2 beautiful boys. With baby #3, we swayed for a girl. I found the diet info on the internet to be confusing, so I didn't change my diet- just ate normal meat, veg, fruit and dairy. Not much junk food or processed food. I didn't give up my daily coffee and drank alcohol moderately (a few glasses every other day). DH gave up coffee for 1 week. For 2 months, I used a saliva ovulation device from the chemist and worked out I ovulate regularly at 9am on day 14! For 1 month prior, I took 1 x ultra calcium, 1 x magnesium 500mg and 2 x cranberry tabs. DH took the cranberry. for the 2 weeks when we were trying, I took 1 x sudafed per day (real sudafed with pseudoephedrine- you have to sign at the chemist to buy it). We had sex twice a day from day 5 to the evening of day 10. No O's for me, and shallow penetration only. I ovulated as usual on the morning of day 14- 3.5 days after we had stopped. Low and behold, we were pregnant. Just confirmed girl this week via cvs. Not sure if it was sheer luck, but I think the timing must have made a difference as 3.5 days is quite a long time. I wish you all the best:)

Hi all :) we are going TTC from October and really want a princess. Should I be taking calcium, magnesium and cranberry now?

Dear Plan2bamummy, I don't think it can hurt to start the suppls soon- I did a 2 month campaign- 1 full month of suppliments and then into the cycle when we ttc a girl. You can see from my earlier post that I stuck to a healthy diet and stopped dtd 3.5 days out from ovulation. I recommend going to Chemist Warehouse or somewhere like that to buy your suppls- I went through them so fast and DH also took them. Good luck!

Thanks Littleton, I'll go check it put on the weekend.
I've started to track and planning to not DTD too close to O day.
Did anyone else track PH levels?
littleriv
10-05-2012, 08:51
I tried to track PH levels, and DH's too- they were such 'boy' readings I just stopped in the end. I took sooooo much cranberry and also drank cranberry juice, took pseudoephedrine ech day before DTD, shallow penetration, no O for me and immediately went to the toilet afterwards. I thought 3.5-4 days out was too far out to even get pregnant but I reckon that is what worked for us, so don;t be tempted to bring it closer to ovulation, at least for a few months.
Hi all been ages since I've been in here was in here way back towards start/middle somewhere lol. Short intro I have 3 boys swayed back in 2009 and was successful getting my long awaited girl. - lost a baby in 2010 been TTC ever since, whole heap of complications & now on clomid. Been swaying for a girl again not sure how swaying while on clomid will go but worth a try, clomid naturally sways girl anyway (tho of course boys are born regardless nothing is a guarantee) but any lil help will be nice, right now I'm just praying to ovulate getting pregnant will be a bonus as I was told I don't always ovulate. Been trying to stick to a girl diet & still eating a lot of calcium & taking calcium tablets & drinking cranberry juice etc also will time DTD with ovulation like I did with my daughter. So we shall see. Congrats to all BFPs and babies born :)

Hi thought i would join in, I mostly will be just keeping up to date with things and occasionally comment or even ask questions. We are TTC a girl. My most fertile time is between the 20 - 24th May so for a girl. Would it be best to do the baby dance the 18th or 19th? or any other suggestion
ANGELBUTTERFLY: do you know when you'll be ovulating? Are you using opks or temping? If you know the day you'll ovulate helps. I DTD everyday once AF stops no orgasm and stop 3 days before ovulation. That's how I got my lil girl. Pink baby dust hun xx

I'm using the maybe baby saliva test and that starts changing 2-3 days before ovulation day. For some reason the OPKS don't ever come up with a complete positive test for me but saliva tests do.

Angelbutterfly- I tried something similar to BB78. I would DTD every day from finishing period, with no orgasm, shallow penetration only and toilet straight after, then stop at least 3 days out. I stopped 3.5 days out (actually, it was 3 days and 16 hours) before ovulation. Good luck :fingerscrossed:

That's a good way too I used it all when TTC my girl I say once it looks like O is 3 days away DTD without orgasm & then sustain from sex. My hubby had a hot bath b4 sex too.

Hi littleriv: :) I also recomend lots of dairy & cranberry in your diet what do you think littleriv? I was on calcium tablets with vit D and eating yogurt daily green leafy veg & cranberry juice I was also taking cranberry tablets from start of AF upto ovulation. I stopped DTD 3 days to my O but found out I ovulated later then I thought when I had my date scan so in the right PH environment girl sperm can live a long time waiting for that egg. When i look at her & think about the whole amazing journey it's really mind blowing to think it worked & that sometimes natural swaying can & does work :)

Ok so I've purchased some test strips online, I'm still thinking I want a saliva one too any suggestions? Also with the strips do we dtd when a faint positive comes up ie ovulation could still be a few days away? Just don't want to "miss the boat".

Oh another stupid question when we are going to start ttc we are actually going to be on holidays, just planning itinerary now and we want to do the hot springs ( I think they go up to 40c) just wondering should we go at the beginning (near o week) or after (hopefully during implantation week)

Hot springs well girl sperm
Handled heat better then boys so I would go during ovulation week. :) sounds lovely have a great holiday!
With opks a positive isn't until it's as dark or darker then the test line, but I would DTD daily up to just before it's +. So 3 days before O. Best wishes on getting your princess xx

Just commenting on here, so i can come back & read it at a later stage.
Quick question though... Does anyone have a summary of topics from this thread to help me when swaying for a girl?
How early before Dancing should i be doing these things (eg. cranberry juice). And any tips for the dad too?
Any help is appreciated! :)

Stupid question, but I've seen that when you're trying for a girl, you should not orgasm.
We're hoping to sway for blue, but I still wonder.....how exactly do you NOT orgasm?!
I thought I'd try last night during DTD and I couldn't stop it any more than if I'd tried to stop the earth spinning.
I'm so curious, how do you stop it?

Well for trying for a boy you want to orgasm before during & even after would be great.
For me it's easy to have some control
But it helps if hubby gets himself or you can help him to point of just about to come then he slips in orgasms & pulls out. So you wouldn't get a chance to be stimulated to come. This is what we did & we got our girl.
Best wishes on your blue journey
