View Full Version : Teeth and Babylove book
OK now I have a memory of I think Draught telling me she loved the book babylove but not the bit about teething. I already don't agree with whats in the book!
Now I am pretty certain Eliza is having some teething iss-ewes
signs are
slight temp
Tugging her ears
rosey cheeks
red gums
Fussing like crazy at feeding timesSo I tried offering her the other boob, different holding positions etc, then I put SM33 on her gums whooo happy baby, but then still got all other signs bar the red gums, then full scale screaming at feeding times not wanting to feed at all, so buy cooling gum teething ring, chomps on this before feed this works for a while then hmm that stops working, so I resorted to baby panadol volia perfect feed and a decent sleep. I do understand they could just be causing her grief and not come up for ages, but are these some of the signs or could it be something else?
Ah yes, is that the book that says teething doesn't hurt?
My wisdom teeth move around and it bloody hurts! My dentist says there is no doubt it hurts (a father of 6 younguns himself). So I too dont agree with the teething component of this book.
If you think its teething, it probably is but the signs you said are also signs of ear infection and cold/flu.

I agree with loving the book except the teeth part.
Tender gums are usually a good sign of teething. Is she drooling a lot more?

Yes i find it rather interesting when people say it doesnt hurt & it doesn affect the baby !
Yeah ok then come to my place & i will show you how it doesnt affect DS
He was teething at birth & is obviously still going through it his symptoms include :
Rosy red cheeks
Slight temp
Runny poos
Grumpy
Pulls at cheeks or scratches mouth
Bites anything in site ( lounge & cat included )
Goes off food especially chunky styles
Small bumps under gums
The best thing you can do is keep them happy in any way possible.
I find DS prefers mushy purees during this time so thats what we do until he is happy with chunks again.
Just keep feeding her when she wants it & using the panadol or teething gel as needed.
Otherwise stick to your cold teething ring.
The best things i found were Brauers Teething Relief & the "Gummy" its a dummy that has a little teether instead of the teat & i found especially when Boof was little this was much easier for him to munch on than a teething ring which he never really liked.
Fun times are ahead unfortunately but its bearable :hugs:
OK it's defintely not a cold or ear infection
Ally yep she tuggs at her mouth and rubs her cheeks heaven forbid you touch them when they are rosy she cries!!
Thanks guys

If it seems on going & she isnt her normal self besides being grumpy. So say she becomes disinterested in her normal "fun" things & sleeps more then i would get her checked but its mainly watching out for a temperature spike that could mean an illness.
We get the tender cheeks big time i cant wipe his face when he is teething without a massive tear-fest & if you accidently touch them you are the meanest person in the world LOL !
Oh fun fun fun for you now you will know whats hit ya :p
Im so mean arent i lol !
honestly every kid is differant ds1 his teeth came so fast with no pain the rest were differant ds2 rashes runny poo dd her teeth went up and down ds3 hed get fevers of 39 for 3days then teeth would brake through ds4 pulling on ears rashs and the poo prob and all of them had tething colds there all diferant good luck with it

Ah, yes. I love Robyn Barker, but she doesn't know the first thing about teething. Since I've been an adult, I've had 8 teeth come through - and let me tell you it BLOODY HURTS! And I understood what was happening and why and it still made me miserable. So how anybody can think it doesn't affect babies is beyond me!
Sounds like Eliza has all the classic symptoms of teething, Mouse! Good luck, poor bubba, hope she feels better soon.

Just thought I would mention that Brauer makes a really good 'natural' teething relief.;)
ohh thanks is that one of the natural remedies? I hate giving her the panadol

Yeah, all the Brauer relief mixtures are homeopathic. There's also a homeopathic remedy called Hilands Teething Relief tablets - apprently the tablets disolve on the tongue. I've heard other people say they're really good, although we haven't tried them. We used to use the Brauer Colic Relief mixture and it was brilliant, although we haven't used the teething relief, so I don'tknow what its like!

Just wanted to put in my 2c, I have the Babylove book, and when it came to teething time with Vallerie, it happened with her just how Robyn describes it in the book. I guess each child is different - which makes perfect sense really, we are all individuals :D It didn't hurt me to get my wisdom teeth.

They are good also, but I found them really had to give to Ozzy he would just spit it out. Brauer was easier to give to him and not unpleasent to taste either.;)
Brauer make a range of different products check out their site:

Just gave her some hmm well tried she took half she's chilling on my lap now
They have the whole range at priceline but quite a few of them are for 6mths and older but the teething one can be used under 6mths:smiliedance:
