This is probably a stupid question, but does anyone here know what age babies eyes change colour (if they are going to)? My DD is only almost 3 weeks old, and like most babies she has blue eyes. Her dad has dark brown eyes and so does everyone on his side of the family, so I think they will probably change, but would like to know when that might happen.
Thank in advance :)

tyler's took about 4weeks she had grey eyes when she was born, they started to go brown at around 3weeks, but took about another week or so to stay brown, i hope that makes sence:confused:

I've hear that it can take up to 2 years for the colour to be final. That being said, it's usually around the 6 month mark that you'll be pretty safe in saying that what they've got then is what they will have for life

I'd say they'd change around the 6-month to a year mark...they'll probably change before a year, but will intensify, IYKWIM.
I thought DD would end up with brown eyes too...I have brown eyes and brown hair...as do my parents. DP, however, has hazel eyes and blonde hair.
DD has brown hair (not nearly as dark as mine...which is nearly black, but darker than mousy brown), has weird eyes. Her left eye is dark hazel, and the right one is half brown (up the top...and a little fleck down the bottom) and half hazel (but a darker hazel than the other eye...but not freakishly darker...only a bit).

Don't expect her to have the colour eyes of the parents as sometimes they can be throw backs like my DD. My DP and I both have hazel eyes and (before dying) blonde or fair hair. DD has blue eyes and red hair. My mother and brother have blue eyes adn the only other red head is my maternal grandmother!

Yep as everyone has said they can start changing early but usually its around the 6mth to 12mth period but they can still change up to 2yrs if that makes sense.
Totally agree with Chelle though your lo may not have the same as you or her dad but be a throw back. My DS is blonde at this stage which is like my DP & myself as babies so i expect his hair to darken like ours as he gets older. His eyes are a bright blue which he gets from my dad his maternal grandfather, mine are a hazel that often go green whereas DP has greenie/hazel eyes.
I expected a dark haired baby with darker eyes so was rather shocked at my nordic looking bub hehehe.

Thank you all! :)
At the moment her eyes are a very dark blue, I have been told they will probably change to brown because brown is the dominant colour in her family, but I know they could be a totally different colour. Mine are blue, but not as dark as hers and most people on my side have blue or brown.
Here is a picture - does anyone think they will end up brown by looking at them now?

DD had dark blue eyes when she was born, we thought they were going to go brown (like my DBF's). Her eyes have just gotten brighter and bluer. They're still changing at 7 1/2 months but she definitely has blue eyes.
I had blue eyes until I was 20, now they are green!

My DD's eyes changed when she was 12 months. They were blue like mine, but now they're green, and the left one has a ring of hazel around it! :D
I would have thought EJs would change by now as all my family have Hazel eyes and my BF has brown. Her eyes are still blue - Her grandfather though has blue eyes so if she keep the blue i gather its skipped a generation?

Oliver had slate grey eyes when he was born...they changed to brown within the week, and now they have a slight green tinge to them.
But Ive heard that eyes and haircolour can change up until 12 months or so.....my hubby had blonde hair for ages as a child, but he's as dark as me now!
My daughter had very dark blue eyes when she was born 12/03/06.
They are green now with flecks of brown around the iris.
I have green eyes, dad has brown, Charlotte is 17 weeks.

My DS#1 had his hazel eyes by 6 months. DD had blue eyes until she was three then the also turned hazel although a lighter version than DS#1. DS#2 still has vivid blue eyes at 6 1/2 months.

my DS gad blue eyes untill he was 3mths, then they turned green. He is now 17mths and they are still changing. They have a dark blue grey ring around the outsidethe rest is green and then there is hazel around the pupil. I think they will eventually turn hazel because every day the green seems to be fading. The only time they look really green is in the direct sunlight.
I have green eyes and my DH has brown.
So as a few have said, I guess it can take up to 2yrs.
My DH has very light baby blue eyes and I have dark brown eyes. DD's eye color seems to change a fair bit and no one can quite pick out the color as yet. Initially at birth it looked like dark grey eyes, then in sunlight it became a light grey, then under downlights (and in lifts in shopping centres) there seemed so be a green tinge, other lights it looks more hazel-brown. Hmmmm...... I have no idea what her eye color is really - she is only 5 1/2 months old so maybe I'll have a better idea in a few months.

There must be some gene in my family that is green cause both my brother and i have green eyes but dad has Brown and mum green.
My son has blue eyes mum said mine changes as I got older, from blue to green. My DH has slate grey blue eyes. I just hope my babies don't inherit my bad eye sight as well.

I have dark brown eyes but my DS has blue. He was born with brown eyes and they changed within a few days of birth. Here's a link that may give you some idea as to what colour your babies eyes may genetically come out:
