For those that would like to hear more from blokes on forums like this - I stumbled across this one.

http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054899493

It's amazing how different the language is. Quite entertaining actually. It will take me a few days to get through all the posts.

But if you want to read what actual blokes think about circumcision - it may well give you an insight.

Ok so what is the purpose of this? Some men who actually have a problem are discussing their experience. How is this different from finding the best dentist for your root canal?

ETA: oh and here are guys here. Such as you and me.

Of dubious relevance to this forum, since it's basically a few dozen Irish blokes sharing their experiences (with a few blow-ins spraying some rhetoric around) -- nothing to do with RIC or parenting.

The message is: if you've completed puberty and your foreskin is not easily retractible, do something about it; where something spans the range of stretching, steroid cream, frenoplasty, partial circ or full circ, depending on the nature and severity of the problem.

I agree.

I really like your link Father. It is indicative of the role that circumcision should play. Adult, consenting men chatting about some problems they are having and the best way to sort them out. Their penis, their choice. I notice that the tone of their posts in relation to their issue is more discomfort and annoying, and none of them seem to say they should have been circumcised as an infant.

Well done on finding a fabulous link indicating the main thrust of what I have been saying all along. I am not anti circumcision, I just think that because recurring issues with the foreskin are rare, the choice to circumcise should be left up to he with the penis.

Yay to circumcision. One of a myriad of options available to men that have issues with their foreskin.

:iagree:
It's fantastic that these men had the choice to circumcise their penis.

If someone were to describe this section of Bubhub it would sound pretty similar.

"Basically a half a dozen strongly anti-circ activists who repeatedly share their opinions about circumcisions (with a few blow-ins spraying some rhetoric around)"

One of the interesting things about that Irish thread is that they seem as ignorant of penile anatomy as the majority of Australians. Doctors who have never heard of Betanovate (first line of treatment for non-retractile foreskins), doctors writing referrals for circumcision without even doing an examination, doctors who should be writing circ referrals (since the guy clearly has BXO) but don't, guys who figure they've got a problem after seeing someone else's penis in a porn movie, guys who don't know what a frenulum is ...

It's all there and hauntingly familiar.

We should be doing a better job in PD class in high school, which should be sex-segregated to avoid the embarrassment factor that can be acute during adolescence.

(ps I try to leave my rhetoric out of this section of the forum :D)

That's a bit harsh. So these doctors got their education in a wheeties packet? Just like the ones in Australia that perform circumcisions???

You have an opinion. These doctors do too. They also saw these penis' and made a diagnosis based on what they saw = grown men with problems. Men that put up with issues for many years.
