A broad area, I know... the problem is, I don't feel I know where I 'fit in' and would like to move somewhere there is some kind of Single Parent community / a sense of community, and a relaxed place to live. I'm keen on Sydney/surrounds, would consider Canberra or Central coast....
I'm currently in Blacktown, Sydney, and moved here from the lower North Shore to live in Supported Accomodation. I had a career in advertising before becoming pregnant, my partner couldn't be supportive and fled to his parents in New Zealand when Maya was 6 months old. I have a couple of friends in North Sydney, but that's it really, as, since giving birth to my (gorgeous) 2 year old daughter, my relationship broke down, I had developed severe PND and have since been diagnosed with Bipolar. I have found it hard to maintain friendships and have felt ashamed. I have had a lot of support in the accomodation service where I'm at, but it's time to move on and I feel a bit lost.
I'm from the UK (family dysfunctional so not keen to go back), have a cousin in Canberra but she has found it hard to be supportive so we have drifted.
I'm a strong (have come through a lot - Severe PND is disabling), resourceful, likeable and well educated individual, but do feel vulnerable and lacking in social support and enough friends. Looking for somewhere friendly, peaceful, relaxed, green, preferably near water, with good services, and good community... somewhere I could go to live adn feel 'safe' and connect with like-minded people -become included. I used to be a writer in advertising and that is what I identify with - I'm creative. I'm not conservative - interested in alternative healing, practice meditation and yoga, and my values aren't in line with conventional material values.
This sounds a bit like a personals ad, and well done and thank you if you've read this far!!
