what could be wrong with him?

my ds has been trying to sleep all day but keeps waking up screaming, he is refusing his bottle now and screams if it goes in his mouth. and just before he spewed up a tonne of spew on me (sorry tmi) i reckon it was 4 bottles or there abouts worth lol
anyway i am at a loss, at first i thought maybe he is teething. but his face is really red and has pimple like dots on it and now he has covered my dressing gown in spew :(
he doesnt have a temp
any ideas?

Has he eaten anything or played anywhere different in the last few days? Could be a reaction to something he has eaten or brushed against. Tha would explain the redness and dots.
Could be an ear infection. My DS usually gets a temp of 40+ but once he had no temp, just refused to eat and slept alot.
Definatly go to the dr. Hope he's ok :hugs:

Perhaps he has a bad sore throat or similar which could cause his restlessness and not wanting to have his bottle near him.

Call the Dr even if it's just to get someone's advice. I'm not sure what the rash could be so it's better to be safe than sorry.

ds just spewed before and it was like clear mucus(sp?) TMI sorry but at the moment he is just laying there :( he hasnt been pulling on his ears so i dont think it would be an ear infection.

hi jessgray, my DD did the same to us last night.Have you called 13HEALTH??They were excellent when I rang last night.DD's doctor seemed to think it's probably the start of an ear infection and she hasn't been pulling at her ears at all.In fact she was perfect all day until around 6 last night.

Have you checked his temperature?
I hope he gets better quickly!

whats 13health? :confused: is that like nurse on call? his temp isnt high its in the normal range. the poor guy was just starting to get over his chest infection too :(


edited to add at 5:48pm: his temp was 37.3 under the arm.would that be classed as fever?

back from dr's. the dr said its just a viral infection and to see how he goes with just paracetmol but if he isnt better by monday to bring him back for antibiotics.

Good on you for taking him to the Dr.

If you have any concerns don't hesitate to take him back in there.

Re the fever, my DS had severe ear infections at that age when his temp would spike straight to 38.5 (once to just over 40 whilst we were in the waiting room). It's not so much the fever but how well they cope with it. Some bubs can play happily at 38.5 and you can bring it down quickly with Panadol or Nurofen. Some though become floppy and limp by then - if you see that, go straight to emergency.

rynosmum- yeah my ds has a fever right now he has had it all mornign after the paracetmol brought it down last night and he was jumping around like he was high on red cordial lol

he got restless at the dr's so i took him to the chemist next door and let him pick out a teddy,he now owns a bright green bear that has a sling on its arm lol the dr said he was pretty sure the spots on ds were related to the viral infection but if ds shows signs of mengitis to go straight to the hospital.
