Hi all

Well i have decided to travel to either mater or RBWH to have the twins as the both have very good NICU if needed etc.

However i am leaning towards the mater, but want to know what it is like. What are the rooms like. I have read about the birth suits being lovely but cant find anything on the rooms. how many to a room? and above all is the old rooms still in use as i have heard they are a hovel and have shared bathrooms with everyone in maternity :barf:

So pls can you give me the low down, as I dont want to choose something that is awful IYKWIM. Like i dont wanna go there if any of the old mater mothers is still in use....

Thank you:hugs:

They are only using the new hospital, honestly the old one wasn't that bad, but the new one is very nice. As far as I know the rooms are singles or doubles.

Hi,

I had my dd at the Mater private in aug 08 , the hospital is just beautiful, i found the birthing suite to be spacious they are fully equiped with everything you need .

Private and public patients use the same lot of birthing suites . As for the rooms for public i heard they are nice to, two to a room for public sometimes you get lucky and my score a room to yourself there are two floors for public patients. You may get your own room . Also you can take tours of the hospital so that is something to consider as its always nice to know in your mind where you will be going:goodvibes:. Hope that helps.

Best of Luck with everything .

The old hospital is only being used for staff now. The new hospital is beautiful, 2 ppl to a room and 1 bathroom in room and yes old one was a shared bathroom but it was still ok, just not very nice wen u need to pee! I have seen mater NICU first hand and it is fantastic.

Thanks ladies, your advice is very much appreciated

I called the mater yesterday afternoon and they were just so so lovely and really went beyond what they had to in order to help me :cloud9:

Kirst85 - What do you mean they only use it for staff. Like prac etc?
