I'm hoping someone can help me out....when i make my bubbas formula...there always seems to be little white grains left around the bottle...am I doing something wrong?? (maybe the water is to hot??) I'm doing it exactly the same as how i was taught at the hospital..but I don't recall there bottles having the grains:confused:

Anyone have an ideas on what i'm doing wrong?? (her poops are normal and she dosant seem to have colic or anything like that)

The formula she is on is Nan 1.H.A Gold if that helps?

How are you making the bottle? This is how I did it:
water in bottle
microwave for 30 sec or heat in a bowl of hot water for a few minutes until luke warm
add formula
shake (but not too vigorously otherwise you end up with air in it which caused bub to have wind).
Perhaps the water isn't warm enough and the formula isn't disolving?

ok a few questions ...

a) have you checked inside your kettle?? is the kettle clean?? mind was dirty and causing 'bits' so I had to buy a new one...

b) do you make the bottles up in advance an reheat?? and are you reheating WATER or reheating FORMULA??

I make up Jack's bottles the night before - just with water.. and then zap for 30 secs... THEN add formula..

I dont use the formula you use... but I doubt there should be grains??

I"m with annsam though ... smore shaking and really warm water.. (if you get bubbles.. just let the bottle settle a little before serving... it gets rid of bubbles)

I found I had to shake, rattle and roll the bottle more. I would always end up with undisolved powder if I didn't shake enough. I used Karicare Gold.

I found with Nan 1HA gold that I needed to use water a bit hotter than lukewarm for it to dissolve properly and also that I had to shake the bottle as soon as I put in the formula or it would clump together.

I thought the water was sposed to b cold when u mix the formula not warm  thats what it says on the tin.

I dont recall what the tins say as its been a while since Ive used it but I have always warmed the water first because warming it with the formula in it (especially if microwaving it) kills some of the nutrients.

thanks ladies!!:hugs:

Not sure what the cause was..but its fixed after I changed a couple of things....I was making up a litre of formula (boiling the water then putting the formula straight in, without allowing to cool...)

So anyway now i'm boiling the water and letting is sit for 5 or so mins then putting the formula in....then stiring for ages....and now there is no more grains!

Thanks again for all of your input!:yelclap:

You know not to make formula up in warm water and then cool and reheat it dont you? It can create food poisioning. Either wait till the water is very cold and then make it in bulk or pour the water into the bottle and mix the formula on an add needs basis. Just making sure as I did this for a couple of months before it clicked in my post baby state  .

Sounds like maybe the water was just too hot. Putting it in water too hot kills the nutrients so its good you got that sussed.

Good luck!
