I was just wondering for those who have girls, when they were little did you bother putting headbands on them, or didn't you bother because you knew they would come off???

I love em!

I dont use the hard ones tho just the nice stretchy fabric ones

You can get cute pinks at Best and Less

They look absolutely adorable in em :smiliedance:

I didn't because I don't like the look of them. DD also hates anything around her head so she would scream the place down if I even tried.
I'm not a fan of headbands on babies.

i did once for a photo but 2 seconds later it was off. i don't really bother anymore. it is enough of a struggle to keep a hat or beanie on her head.

I tried once and dd just kept pulling it down onto her eye's then screamed cause she couldn't see anything.
I put little clips in her hair now, as long as I show it to her first and tell her she's gonna look pretty, she leaves them in. :D

I wouldn't wear one myself, so saw no reason to put one on DD.

My girls have always had very long hair, so yes, once it was long enough fabric headbands were used to keep it away from their face.

whenever is see a practically bald baby /or toddler wearing those plastic headbands i can only think about how uncomfortable the poor girl must be, and try not to whack the mother over the head and remind her its a child not a barbie doll lol

The fabric bands from an early age on the other hand, (i think) can help when it comes time for sun hat tantrums. once they are used to wearing something on their head they are more likely to not even notice the hat while playing.

I had some for Tilly when she was really small, the lace material type ones with the flower on top. She was almost bald, but I put them on her anyway, although not very often as they would slip down and cover her eyes  after 2 boys I have always got a bit excited about anything girly  Cant put them on her now though, she wont leave them in, ditto for clips or anything like that, and she actually needs them now to keep her hair out of her eyes!

Hats are awesome! DD has no problem with them and loves her little beanies, her hair growing tho, thank god. :smiliedance:

Nup. I hate em.

Unless there's a good reason to put em in a baby's hair (ie their hair is too long and gets in their eyes and they actually need a headband), I wouldn't do that to my DD. And she still has short hair!

Yes I did. She was only 3 days old when she wore her first one. I only put the small lacey ones on her though.

After having 2 boys I couldnt wait to use all the girlie things.:D

I have tried putting headbands and clips in DD hair. It is getting to the length now where it is starting to look untidy. (That lenght where it won't sit behind her ears). Her hair is so fine, she can pull them out and does all the time.

There is nothing worse than a tacky bit of elastic on a cute little fuzzy head.

You guessed it, my girls never had them.

I have one for Eliza it looks really silly but I love it and she doesn't mind it she wears a hat all the time sun/warm hat outside so she's really use to wearing thing on her head.

My DD started wearing them from about 2 months - from 4 months she wore them every day because her head looked naked without one!! Everyone was so used to seeing her with something on her head, whether it be hat, bandana or headband, that she looked funny when she wasn't wearing one!

I don't like the skinny lacy ones, i like the thick fabric ones from pumpkin patch and best and less, DD has about 50 of them, but she doesbn't wear them anymore because i can finally get her hair into 2 pig tails.

And she has NEVER had a problem with taking them off her head, i think she was so used to wearing one from such a young age that it felt normal for her.

i don't like them. the frilly ones remind me of garters! lol

i wear one all the time coz i need to keep my hair off my face, but until Q. has hair that gets in her face she won't be wearing one. & even then it won't be one of those lacey/ frilly ones! not sure how we'll go with keeping it on tho - atm she's fine with keeping beanies on (tho they r all too big for her, even the 'newborns,' & cover her eyes:rolleyes: )!

I think they're cute, especially on the little baldy heads. They make me laugh.

It always makes me think their mum is doing it so everyone will know its a little girl.

But I love little girls wearing pigtails and bobbles and all the paraphanalia in their hair anyway.

I'm having a boy, so no hair paraphanalia for us, but he does already have a collection of funky hats. I love babies wearing cute and silly little hats. I have knitted a couple of quite ridiculous looking ones. My poor baby.

Yep, I put them on my DD, she didn't have much hair (still doesn't) so I wanted everyone to know that she was a gorgeous little girl. DD has never had a problem wearing hats, beanies or headbands (until now, she likes to pull her headbands off & throw em away) & you can get some cute matching ones from Pumpkin Patch. I never saw a problem with a little bit of accessorising :D
Ciao,
Brooke.

I've never liked them (esp on baldy babies). I agree with Kaz Cook, who thinks babies in headbands look like demented Easter eggs

both my girls were headbands, from pumpkin patch, i lovee them :D so pretty :D

DD1 has a LOT of hair so needs them or she has to have it clipped back or tied up even tho shes only 12 months!

And DD2 has a bit of hair so it just looks so cute :D

Two girls here and NOT ONE HEADBAND !!! Don't like them. Think they look odd, especially on babies with not much hair !!! But don't know if it because I didn't fuss on their hair when they were babies, but now both girls hate having stuff in their hair ... won't wear clips or bands and hate having their hair up - although I make Ellie wear it up for school. Dunno, perhaps I should have been more adventurous when they were bubba's !

I have to say that before I had kids I thought they looked ridiculous. I used to swear black and blue that I would NEVER do that to my poor baby. Now that I'm a proud Mummabear I would have to be totally honest and say that there's a pretty good chance that I would whack one of those on my daughters head if I had a girl - I'm just a sucker for anything cutesy now!

Totally agree - I think that bald bubs look just like easter eggs when they wear them.. having said that, they dont look so bad later on when bubs has more hair and the band is actually serving the purpose of keeping the hair out of their eyes

The only purpose I saw for them on a baby with no hair is for strangers to know that the baby is a girl. As I didn't care if strangers knew if DD was a boy or girl, I didn't bother with them.

DD only likes wearing her bright blue beanie with a rectangluar blue tag on top that sticks straight up and makes her look like a tellytubby, her very cute floppy black velvet hat or my highly unfashionable brown itchy beanie that goes with absolutely nothing.

Headbands look absolutly rediculous IMO. I'm a huge fan of beanies though :yelclap:

DD has one headband...and I only bought it because one of my friends kind of pushed me into it. It's a cute headband, but it looked weird on DD.

Babies with headbands, IMO, look pretty silly. There's no need for them...and they look kinda awkward considering a lot of babies have no (or very little) hair.

I also found that when Newborns have them, they're always laying down, so if they so much as move their head to the side slightly, the headbank wriggles it way off or down.

However, when bubs are old enough to sit up on their own (or have enough hair to warrant a headband), they generally try to pull them off. DD won't even wear a beanie or a sunhat...she'll do her best to take them off.

When we have a girl (well, if...), no way. I think they look ridiculous and uncomfortable and serve no purpose. I feel sorry for bubs whenever I see them on.

I didnt cause I think they look really silly, now shes older and has longish hair I use them, but their serving a purpose now.
