View Full Version : What can I put on her weeping skin?
DD is going through the process with our docs to try and sort her skin out...could be internal probs but we are also trialling a cream called 'elidel' which seems to be working wonders on the patch we are testing...my prob is that her poor little ankles are so bad from the ezcema that they are weeping and bleeding...what can I do??? Can I put this on the open wound...do I just leave it be??? Do I put sorbolene on it? I have just put her to bed tonight with nothing on it and no sock on that foot to try and let it breathe....but its breaking my heart!! Any suggestions?
Have you got any paw paw ointment. If you have give it a try it is great stuff and it might help at least it doesn't sting wounds. I hope it clears up quickly.

I've used Elidel too and it works wonders on dry, scaly rashes. If it's bleeding and weeping, I suggest you show it to a dermatologist. It will get worse if it gets infected.
I know what it feels like to see your bub so uncomfortable. Hope your DD gets better soon. :hugs:

She will need to go back to the doctor to sort that out, my Ruby has it very bad on her ankle too and is now an antibiotics and antihistamine.
THanks all....just got back from the doctor and he has given her an antibiotic cream which I am not that thrilled about having to use but I guess I have to...if it gets any worse I have to take her back and get oral antibiotics so fingers crossed the cream works....
My DS used to scratch his ankles and feet in his sleep and they got really bad. In the end, we bought some 'compression bandages', I think they are called. We put ointment on his legs before he went to bed and then put these bandages on (they are a bit like long socks rather than bandages that you have to wrap). He couldn't scratch at night and the cream had a chance to spend some time on his skin! It worked a treat and really helped to clear the legs up and stop DS 'damaging' them himself through sub-concious scratching.
Thankfully, he has now grown out of it completely (aged 5)

hi there,
My daughter had teh same thing. she used ELIDEL for quite a while. put it everywere. it only has an effect if used continuasly for 20+ years. i usta bath m,y baby in sorbelene cream until i went to the skin doc and she said hope had an staff infection which is apparently very common with weeping exhma.
y need to go to the chemist adn get a bath wash that has antiseptic/antibiotics in it. and she needs to be on antibiotics aswell.
i was told by the skin specialist that your lungs are inside skin and that she would need antibiotics to help it inside and it would also help outside.
my daughter HAD NO MORE EXHMA AFTER LITRALLY 3 DAYS!!!!!!!! after seeing teh specialist.
I only use GIA moisturiser. its all natural and is great for exhma. all the other products i find do not work. i go through a bottle a week. Oh yah now its settled down i bath hope in coconut oil. i tell ya ita a god send. ill be doing it wil all my kids. (number 2 is on da way). coconut iol is briolliant for bathing, cooking with etc. its the only oin once heated that doesnt loose its goodness. I swear by the stuff. :smiliedance:
she needs to be kept constaintly moist. i was given along with the wash and antibiotics a regume i had to follow. bathed 2x a day and teh skin muct be fully moisturised with in 3 minutes to retain moisture found naturally in skin. she still get s alittle but i find its really only when she's teething etc.
if u want to talk to my specialist etc pls call and ill be happy to refur you.
GOOD LUCK.
I feel for you.:hugs:
My son has severe eczema on his face and feet.
Last time we went to the hospital they were most concerned with it because there has been a lot of young children developing bone infections which as you could imagine is quite nasty.
I wish you all the best with Ruby.
I know it isn't fun, seeing your little one suffer like that.

You can't use elidel or protopic on excema that is weepy or infected. When i had very bad weepy excema i used to put lots of Hydraderm on, and then some wet gauze patches (large ones) and it would soak up any weepiness and the wet gauze helped the hydraderm penetrate the skin.
Also bath in salt water.. it may sound like it stings but it actually feels better than water with no salt.
