I have a 6 month old who was on Karicare AR formular, Karicare have since discontinued the line. I have gone to the Chemist to get professional advice where they put me onto the S26 gold (6 month progression). I have fed bubs this new one for 2 days. The first few feeds he was fine with minimal reflux, but last night and this morning he is vomiting the formula - i would say about 2-3 tablespoons. I understand that there would be some reflux however a little worried about the vomit. What should i do?

Maybe try the s26 reflux formula or buying the Karicare food thickener and using that in the s26 gold.

I tired DS on S26 AR, while he didnt chuck or reflux. He did refuse feeds after 1.5 days. Which he does on any thickened feed. Its a James thing, that he has always done.

I'm a fan of the S26AR formula.

My daughter was a BIG chucker and had really bad reflux. At three months we put her on the S26 AR (anti reflux) formula after she stopped putting on weight while breast feeding. She had no reactions to it, no constipation (which some AR formulas can do) and immediately began putting weight back on.

She was still a spewy baby, although it was much less than she had been while breast feeding and with the weight gain, we had to just live with having a chucker

Good luck!

Thanks ladies. I bought the Karicare thickener yesterday afternoon and mixed it with the S26. Bubs didnt seem very happy with me or the feed and paid me back for it. He has always rejected the s26 range right from the beginning. So i went back to the pharmacy and bought the Karicare 6 month follow on formula and mixed it with the thickener. My mother inlaw was looking after him today and she rekons that he wouldnt keep it down, but then again she plays, and carries him around right after his feeds (however the think they no better). I guess i will wait and see till tomorrow. Night times is easy - he falls asleep on the bottle. I fed him tonight after bath, and he really seemed like he enjoyed it. So i think this is a thumbs up....i guess you learn to know what works and what does not.

Life was so simple with the Karicare AR formla. I thought i was doing so well, from a really bad reflux baby to no reflux at all and now i have been thrown back right to square one. Story of my life.

Thing with reflux bubs is they need to sit to let a feed go down. Play/feed/sleep routine is good for them, their tired after a feed & most of the time will sleep through a reflux episode.

One thing i found with thickener was not to use as much as they say. I add 1/4 scoop for every 100ml's of milk & add it as you need to. Its not something you can make in advance, it thickens as it stands. You'll possibly need to go up a teat or 2 as well to get the same flow. And the warmer the bottle the better, some times i had to warm it a second time.
