Does anyone have any tips as to where I could get hold of a sun hat for my little man? I've looked and looked but none of the shops seem to stock them in winter (despite the fact that we live in Queensland!!!)

I know what you mean! I want to encourage the nugster to wear a hat from a very early age and I can't find any at the moment  maybe I'm not looking hard enough

I've checked Big W, Target and Pumpkin Patch - to no avail. The lady at PPatch said they wouldn't have any in until their summer range came in... It seems like nobody realises we live in Australia. I wear a hat and sunscreen all year round...

I find most supermarkets still have a small selection, our local Coles has them all year round :)

i'm from sydney but i've seen heaps in target. But they are girls hats sorry i just read you were after a boys hat. Do u have a cancer council shop near you?? I know they sell hats all year around or try markets.

DD's current hat came from a Life Line store :) It's a Pumpkin Patch one, only cost me $1.50...so if she pulls it off her head and looses it I'm not too worried.

Places like that have hats all year round...my local ones seem to already be putting a small ammount of summer stock out too...so is Target now that I think about it...

Not sure how old your bubs is but I was looking and found caps for 6-9 month olds at this site: http://www.motherandchild.com.au/product-browse.asp?cid=10004&sid=10003
Hope that helps!

Ive seen loads in Target as well as Best & Less.
I cant get Boof to keep his on but im not too worried atm its just when summer hits that ive got a problem !
Also remember they are advising parents to allow their kids to be without hats during the winter months it allows them to get all of the good stuff without it being harmful ! Kids are actually getting sick from being well protected funnily enough.

I have heard this too
Both my kids have hats, but we seem to be in the car alot in the middle of the day, thats when they wear them the most...sunburn on the top of your head is not fun at all.
I'm do make sure my kids have hats on when we are walking somewhere or in the car...but I'm very slack with sunscreen in the winter :o so at least I know they have some protection.

I'd rather my kids played in the shade without a hat than in the sun with one, especially in QLD summers.

I needed to find one for DS and had the hardest time. Luckily he had a second hand one given to him, that is so cute.

I'd try Target or second hand shops. Good luck!

Thanks so much for all the ideas. I'll do some more looking... With a surfer daddy, our little guy will be spending lots of time at the beach and I don't want him to ruin his beautiful skin!!
