My Ds is now 15months old. When my son was born he had really bad skin. He had milk spots, all so got shocking eczema not long after being born. His scalp had thick dry skin all over it. No cream or any thing worked.

I think he was around 4 months (?) I end up putting him on lactose free formula. With in a week his skin was looking great. Eczema and the thick skin on his scalp and milk spots all went away.

Not long after we introduced solid food (6 months) he started to have up to 10 hold your nose pooey nappies a day but not every day.

Jump to 15months and he has still been having the hold your nose upto 10 pooey nappies a day. I have now worked out it's only around the time he is having fruit. If he does't have fruit for a day the next day only 1 pooey nappy and no smell. When he has fruit again we are back to the all day pooey nappies.

Now his health nurse and pead Dr both think that he all so has fruit intolerance. They said to cut out all high GI fruit, only give him low GI fruit. Keep a food diary and go back and see them next week.

Does any one else have a child who has a Lactose Intolerance and a fruit intolerance?

Does any one know if they are linked in any way?
Any info would be great.

Thanks

I'm not to sure if it's fructose. I don't know much about it. I was talking to his health nurse and she said it was linked? They are worryed about the amount of pooey nappies as he has a low body wight. They are all so worryed about him not getting much nutrition from his food on the days that he has a lot of pooey nappies.

I have been meaning to fine your thread, To say that its great news that your DD started to walk on her own :yelclap::yelclap:

has the GP refered you to a Pead or a Pead GI yet if not I would be asking her to, they need to do stool tests to see exactly what is going on.

If they are woried about weight loss is your little one having a toddler formula, Pedisure is lactose free and is a great weight gainer, Or neocate of elecare are great if he cant tolerate even lactose free milk.

Thanks yer its great im loviing it trying to get her to walk lots lol but it gets her so tired

We are on family care program. DS sees his health nurse and the family care program Pead.

We have to go back next week to see them both. He is fine on lactose free milk. Can have a little tiny bit of lactose just not to much. You can tell by his skin when his had to much then its no lactose what so ever for a week. I have to send Dh out side with his milk drinks and ice cream.

The big one is his nappies that they are worring about. The pead said he will know more next week when I have cut high GI fruit and keep't the food diary. I asked about toddler formula they said to wait a week or two.

I'm just waiting for some thing else to pop up. Dh had a long list of allergies and intolerance when he was a kid. At least DS missed out on the egg allergie :yelclap:. Ds loves his egg. We waited till ds was 12months to give him any egg.

G has LI, CSPI as well as issues with Fructose & Gluten .... It's possibly a malabsorption issue though ( which is what I have ) I dunno, they dunno LOL !

He can have some fruit & some wheat I just have to be VERY careful to keep a watch on what he has had etc otherwise he pays for it in various ways.

He cannot tolerate any dairy at all but seems to be tolerating a little bit of soy yoghurt every week which is great news as it may mean he will grow out of it still

my dd was dairy and egg and fruit.

We went a saw a natropath who put her on pro biotic's had to get special ones that were dairy free after six months on these my daughter is now about to have fruit again

according to the natropath and later the pead she had lost the ability to brake down the sugar in fruit due to being ill (like cold and flu type thing) is something to dow ith the lining in the tummy.

HTH

ps the pro biotic was called tummy alive or something like that.
