View Full Version : Could a Diaphram or menstrul cup work to keep sperm in?

We are about 4 months off our first IVF cycle, and, I would obviously LOVE to avoid it totally and be able to fall pregnant again naturally.. We are doing all the regular stuff, OPK's, BD'ing at the right times, Pre-seed.. You know the drill..

I got to thinking, (as ya do, with your legs up in the air and pillow under your bum!) I wonder if a Diaphragm or cup would hold the sperms in!? (without killing them!) and thus give possibly a higher chance of them still being around at that all important "Soft, High, Open" Cervical moment.

Could it work do you reckon? or am I clutching at straws?! :detective:

Yes.

I was told to use my menstrual cup to keep it in when ttc, using a gender swaying technique.

You could leave one in place all day.

Just make sure when inserting it, a lot comes out and you get that inside the cup.

to be totally honest hun - while it might keep them inside you, the ones that are that far down that are likely to come out are not the ones that are going to make it to the fallopian tubes ....

The journey the little swimmers has to make is an incredibly long one (relative to their size) so they have to be the fittest, strongest swimmers ... and have to have a good head start.

Gravity (legs in the air, pillow under bum) may assist .... but keeping in the excess generally wont.

Here is some special sticky bubby dust for you :babydust2::babydust2::babydust2::babydust2::babyd ust2:

you've probably heard this one but i've read a couple of people have recommended lying on your stomach. can't hurt to try and your feet won't go numb from all the blood leaving them cos they're up in the air

I used a tampon  and then lay on my back with legs up for half and hour, worked for me :)

what do they say about wives tales

katiesmum is right, if I can get up and go after a IUI then I don't think this idea is going to work

if a BFP did happen it was not due to using one save your money

Thanks for the info baby dust and support guys.

I totally get what your saying logically Katies Mum! But if it wont "hurt" the fast swimmers! I think I might still try! - was worried the cup might change the way the mucus/acidity works, or cut off oxygen to the little fella's! (still not sure on that one)

I think We might have a try, but I wont pin tooooooooooooooo much hope on it :goodvibes:

:hugs: and good luck to anyone else who may try! (keep me posted if you succeed!)
